Moldex Respirator Cartridges and Filters
Best Overall — Moldex 7300 OV+Acid Gas Pair ($18.73) — the 7300 covers both organic vapor and acid gas hazards in a single cartridge, making it the most versatile choice for paint booths, labs, chemical handling, and general industrial use where hazard profiles overlap. It costs less per cartridge than buying OV and acid gas separately and fits every current Moldex bayonet-mount respirator.
Moldex Respirator Cartridges — Complete Lineup
Moldex respirator cartridges and filters are NIOSH-approved air-purifying elements designed for the Moldex 7000 Series half-mask respirator and Moldex 9000 Series full-face respirator. All cartridges in this collection use the same proprietary Moldex bayonet twist-lock interface, so any cartridge or filter listed here mounts directly onto any current-generation Moldex half-mask or full-face facepiece — no adapters required.
The lineup covers six distinct chemical protection families: organic vapor (OV), acid gas (AG), combined OV+acid gas, ammonia and methylamine, multi-gas with Smart ESLI color-change indicators, and P100 particulate filtration. Cartridges are sold as pairs (two cartridges per order, designated by model numbers ending in 00), as singles (one cartridge, model numbers ending in 07), and as combo sets pairing one cartridge with one P100 filter (ending in 67). Browse the full Moldex half-mask respirator collection or the Moldex full-face respirator collection if you also need the facepiece.

Which Moldex Cartridge Is Right for You?
- If you work with solvents, paints, lacquers, or adhesives and there is no acid gas component in your environment, the Moldex 7100 OV pair is the straightforward choice at the lowest price point in the gas-cartridge lineup.
- If your environment involves acid gases — chlorine, hydrochloric acid fumes, sulfur dioxide, or similar — and no organic vapors, the Moldex 7200 acid gas pair provides dedicated AG protection without the added cost of a combination cartridge.
- If you face mixed organic vapor and acid gas hazards — common in chemical manufacturing, paint booths, and janitorial chemical use — the Moldex 7300 OV+AG pair covers both in one cartridge and is the best-value pick for most industrial users.
- If you work with ammonia, anhydrous ammonia, or methylamine — agriculture, water treatment, cold-storage refrigeration, or livestock operations — you need the Moldex 7400 ammonia/methylamine pair. Standard OV cartridges are not rated for ammonia protection.
- If you want a visual end-of-service life indicator so you do not have to guess when to change cartridges, choose the Moldex 7600 Multi-Gas Smart pair. The built-in ESLI turns from yellow to gray as organic vapor capacity is consumed. See the full guide: Respirator Cartridge ESLI Guide.
- If you only need P100 particulate filtration — grinding, welding fumes, lead dust, silica, or other particles with no gas hazard — the Moldex 7740 P100 pair delivers 99.97% filtration efficiency at the lowest cost in the P100 category.
- If you need simultaneous gas and particle protection — spray painting, chemical processes with aerosols, or operations that generate both vapors and particulates — reach for the Moldex 7367 OV+AG+P100 combo set, the 7467 AM+P100 combo, or the 7667 Multi-Gas Smart+P100 combo depending on your gas hazard.
- If you need a single cartridge rather than a pair — for fit-testing, field replacement of one side, or budget-managed stock — the 7107 OV single, 7307 OV+AG single, 7407 AM single, and 7607 Multi-Gas Smart single are all available individually.

Understanding the Moldex Cartridge Numbering System
Moldex cartridge model numbers follow a consistent logic that tells you the chemistry, pack format, and whether the cartridge includes a P100 filter stage:
- 7X00 — Pair (2 cartridges): The base model number — 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7600, 7740. Ordering one unit gives you two cartridges, one for each side of the facepiece.
- 7X07 — Single (1 cartridge): The 07 suffix indicates a single cartridge with the same chemical media as the 00-suffix pair model. The 7107, 7307, 7407, and 7607 are individual cartridges from the same product families.
- 7X67 — Combo Set (1 cartridge + 1 P100 filter): The 67 suffix indicates a combination set containing one gas-rated cartridge and one P100 particulate filter, designed to be used together on one side of the respirator for simultaneous gas and particle protection. The 7367, 7467, and 7667 follow this pattern.
- 7740 and 7740 IonicAir — P100 filters only: These are pure particulate filters with no gas-protection media. They do not protect against organic vapors or acid gases.
- 7760 — P100 + nuisance relief: P100 filter with a nuisance-level OV and AG layer. Not a substitute for a rated gas cartridge in environments above nuisance concentrations.
- Smart Cartridge (7600 / 7607 / 7667) — ESLI indicator: "Smart" in the model name denotes the presence of Moldex's color-changing End-of-Service Life Indicator. The indicator window displays yellow when the cartridge is fresh and transitions to gray as organic vapor capacity is consumed.
Compatible Moldex Respirators
All cartridges and filters in this collection use the Moldex bayonet twist-lock mounting system. They are designed exclusively for Moldex bayonet-mount facepieces and do not fit 3M, Honeywell North, MSA, or any other brand of respirator without an adapter — no cross-brand adapters are currently NIOSH-approved for these cartridges.
| Respirator | Type | Mount System | Compatible With |

Moldex Smart Cartridge — ESLI Explained
What Is the Moldex Smart Cartridge?
The Moldex Smart Cartridge is the brand name for Moldex cartridges that incorporate a built-in End-of-Service Life Indicator (ESLI). Rather than relying on time-based change-out schedules or odor breakthrough detection — which OSHA's respiratory protection standard (29 CFR 1910.134) discourages as the sole method — the Smart Cartridge provides a passive, continuous visual signal of remaining organic vapor capacity. The 7600 pair, 7607 single, and 7667 combo set all carry the Smart designation.
Which Moldex Cartridges Have ESLI?
Only the 7600-family Smart Cartridges include the ESLI color-change window. The 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7740, and 7760 do not include an ESLI — those require a scheduled change-out program based on exposure assessment data or a supplier-provided change schedule.
When Does the ESLI Change Color?
The indicator in the Moldex 7600 Smart Cartridge starts yellow when the cartridge is new. As the activated carbon sorbent approaches its organic vapor capacity, the indicator begins transitioning from yellow toward gray. A fully gray indicator window means the cartridge has reached the end of its service life for organic vapor and must be replaced before the next use. The color change is triggered by actual chemical loading — not by time alone — making it more reliable than calendar-only change schedules in variable-exposure environments.
For a complete breakdown of how ESLIs work across brands and when they are required, see: Respirator Cartridge ESLI Guide.
Frequently Asked Questions — Moldex Respirator Cartridges
What respirators do Moldex cartridges fit?
All cartridges and filters in this collection fit the Moldex 7000 Series half-mask respirator and the Moldex 9000 Series full-face respirator using the Moldex bayonet twist-lock mounting system. They do not fit respirators from 3M, Honeywell North, MSA, or other manufacturers without a NIOSH-approved adapter — and no such adapter currently exists.
What is the difference between the Moldex 7100 and 7107?
Both the 7100 and 7107 provide identical organic vapor protection — they use the same activated carbon media and carry the same NIOSH OV rating. The only difference is pack size: the 7100 is sold as a pair (two cartridges) for $19.09, while the 7107 is a single cartridge for $7.30. The pair is more economical per cartridge; the single is useful for one-sided replacement or fit-test supply.
Does the Moldex 7600 have an ESLI?
Yes. The Moldex 7600 Multi-Gas Smart Cartridge includes Moldex's built-in End-of-Service Life Indicator (ESLI). The indicator window changes from yellow to gray as organic vapor capacity is consumed, providing a passive visual signal without relying on odor detection or scheduled change-out alone. The ESLI is also present in the 7607 single and 7667 combo set.
How often should I replace Moldex cartridges?
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 requires employers to establish a change schedule based on exposure assessment data or the cartridge manufacturer's recommendations when no ESLI is present. As a general guideline, cartridges should be replaced at the end of each shift in high-concentration environments, or whenever any detectable odor or taste is noticed through the facepiece. For Smart Cartridges (7600 family), replace when the ESLI window turns gray. Always follow your site-specific respiratory protection program.
Can I use Moldex cartridges on a 3M respirator?
No. Moldex cartridges use a proprietary bayonet twist-lock system that is physically incompatible with the 3M 6000/7500 bayonet or the 3M 6000 series bayonet. There is no NIOSH-approved cross-brand adapter. If you use 3M respirators, see our guide to the best 3M respirator cartridges for compatible options.
What Moldex cartridge protects against ammonia?
The Moldex 7400 ammonia/methylamine pair and 7407 single are specifically rated for ammonia and methylamine. Standard organic vapor cartridges (7100, 7300) are not rated for ammonia protection and should not be substituted in ammonia environments. The 7467 combo set adds P100 particulate protection alongside ammonia/methylamine coverage.
What is the difference between the Moldex 7300 and 7600?
Both the 7300 and 7600 provide organic vapor and acid gas protection. The key differences are: the 7600 is a "Smart Cartridge" with a built-in ESLI color-change indicator that signals when OV capacity is spent; the 7600 also covers nuisance-level ammonia in addition to OV and acid gas. The 7300 has no ESLI and does not address ammonia. The 7600 costs slightly more ($20.79/pair vs. $18.73/pair). If visual end-of-service indication is required by your program, choose the 7600.
Do Moldex P100 filters protect against gases?
No. The 7740 P100 filter and the 7740 IonicAir provide 99.97% filtration efficiency against airborne particles — dust, metal fumes, welding smoke, biological aerosols — but contain no activated carbon or chemical sorbent and offer no protection against organic vapors, acid gases, or ammonia. The 7760 adds only nuisance-level OV/AG relief, not full gas cartridge protection. For simultaneous gas and particulate protection, choose a combo set: 7367, 7467, or 7667.
What is the Moldex 7760 good for?
The Moldex 7760 is a P100 particulate filter with an additional nuisance-level organic vapor and acid gas layer. It is appropriate when the primary hazard is airborne particles (welding fumes, grinding, lead abatement) and there are only trace or nuisance-concentration chemical odors present — not rated gas-cartridge-level vapor exposure. It is not a substitute for the 7300 or 7367 in environments with measurable OV or acid gas concentrations above nuisance levels. See our guide on nuisance relief vs. rated respirator protection for the distinction.
Should I buy a pair or a single cartridge?
For routine use, buy pairs (7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7600, 7740). Both cartridges on a respirator are worn and consumed simultaneously, so you replace them at the same time — pairs are more economical per cartridge. Singles (7107, 7307, 7407, 7607) are useful for replacement of a single lost or damaged cartridge, fit-testing supply budgets, or situations where you want to carry one spare without a full pair.
Are Moldex combo sets worth it vs. buying separately?
Combo sets (7367, 7467, 7667) pair one gas cartridge with one P100 filter in a single product — used together on one respirator side they stack gas and particle protection. Whether they save money versus buying the 7300 pair and 7740 pair separately depends on your replacement cadence. If you replace both elements at the same time, the combo sets eliminate a separate P100 purchase and simplify inventory. If your gas cartridge and P100 filter wear at different rates, buying them separately may be more efficient. Check current pricing and compare per-set cost against the equivalent pair purchases.
What does the Smart Cartridge color change mean?
When the indicator window in a Moldex Smart Cartridge (7600, 7607, 7667) changes from yellow to gray, it means the activated carbon in that cartridge has adsorbed enough organic vapor that it is approaching the end of its rated service life for OV protection. At that point, the cartridge must be replaced before the next use. A partial color change signals the cartridge is in use and still has some remaining capacity — continue monitoring. A fully gray window means replacement is due. Do not continue using a gray-indicator Smart Cartridge. For a detailed breakdown, see the Respirator Cartridge ESLI Guide.
How do Moldex cartridges compare to 3M and Honeywell North options?
Moldex, 3M, and Honeywell North all manufacture NIOSH-approved cartridges, but each brand uses a proprietary mount — they are not interchangeable across brands. Moldex cartridges are competitively priced in the OV and OV+AG categories and the Smart Cartridge ESLI is a differentiating feature. For a brand comparison, see: 3M vs. Honeywell North Respirator Cartridges.
