What Are Indoor/Outdoor Safety Glasses?
Indoor/outdoor safety glasses are protective eyewear with a lightly mirrored or light-amber lens engineered to a higher visible-light transmission than a true sunglass tint. Certified to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1+, they let in enough light to work safely under artificial indoor lighting while reflecting and reducing the brighter light outdoors. They are sometimes called "I/O," "indoor/outdoor mirror," or "SCT" (selective contrast tint) lenses. Most are a fixed light tint rather than a true photochromic lens, which means there's no lag time — you simply keep one pair on as you move between environments. Like all quality safety lenses, they provide UV400 protection and pair an impact-resistant polycarbonate base with an anti-scratch hardcoat.
