Moldex earplugs are among the most trusted names in hearing protection, delivering the industry's highest NRR ratings in some of the most comfortable, easy-to-use designs available. The Moldex earplug lineup is anchored by the SparkPlugs® series, featuring a distinctive bright-colored tapered foam stem that makes insertion fast, clean, and reliable without rolling. SparkPlugs® achieve NRR 33 dB protection — the highest noise reduction rating available for disposable earplugs — making them ideal for manufacturing, stamping, grinding, and other high-decibel applications. They are available in uncorded, corded, metal-detectable, and PlugStation® bulk dispenser configurations to suit virtually every facility's PPE program requirements.

Pura-Fit® earplugs feature an ultra-smooth, skin-friendly foam that compresses easily and expands gradually for a reliable, pressure-free seal. Their contoured shape is engineered to conform to a wide range of ear canal geometries, making them one of the most comfortable all-day wear options in the Moldex lineup. Pura-Fit® also achieves NRR 33 dB and is available in corded, uncorded, and dispenser formats.

For workers in gloved trades or clean environments, the Glide® earplug represents a breakthrough in earplug hygiene. Rather than rolling between dirty fingers, Glide® inserts with a simple twist-and-push motion that requires no pre-compression — meaning workers never touch the foam body with potentially contaminated hands. Glide® provides NRR 30 dB protection and is available in uncorded, corded, and Soothers® moisturizing variants (NRR 31 dB) for workers with sensitive ear canals.

Meteors® earplugs feature a bell-shaped design in two sizes to accommodate the full range of ear canal dimensions. Standard Meteors® (NRR 33 dB) are ideal for workers with average to larger ear canals, while Meteors® Small (NRR 28 dB) are engineered for workers with smaller ear canals who find standard earplugs uncomfortable or difficult to fit. Softies® round out the lineup with an extremely soft, non-irritating foam that is among the gentlest available for workers who experience irritation from standard earplug materials.

All Moldex disposable earplugs are available in corded and uncorded variants. What is the difference between the corded and cordless Moldex earplugs in this collection?

Cordless models (Rockets 6400, Alphas 6430, Jetz 6450) wear without a tether for continuous shifts and around moving equipment. Corded models (Rockets 6404/6405/6415/6420, Alphas 6434/6435/6436, Glide Trio 6445, Jetz 6455) keep the pair together for frequent removal. All shown here are NRR 27; choose by how often you take plugs out.

What NRR do these Moldex earplugs provide and what is the usable level?

Every model in this set is rated NRR 27. Using OSHA's derating method of subtracting 7, expect roughly 20 dB of real-world protection with a good fit. The lab rating assumes ideal insertion, so seating the flanges or foam fully and consistently determines how close you get to the printed number.

When do I need NRR 27 earplugs at my worksite?

OSHA 1910.95 requires action at an 85 dBA 8-hour TWA (hearing conservation program) and limits exposure to 90 dBA TWA. If noise approaches or exceeds these levels, NRR 27 plugs are appropriate. For very high noise, combine plugs with muffs; do not assume more NRR is always better, since over-protection can isolate workers from warning signals.

Which Moldex models here are metal-detectable, and why does that matter?

The Rockets 6415 and Alphas 6436 (both corded, NRR 27) are metal-detectable. Detectable plugs can be located by metal-detection systems if dropped, supporting foreign-object-control programs in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical plants. Choose these models when your facility enforces detector-based contamination prevention rather than standard non-detectable plugs.

Are these Moldex earplugs reusable, and how should I maintain them?

Flanged models like the Rockets and Alphas are washable for repeated use; clean with mild soap and water, dry fully, and inspect the flanges before each insertion. Replace any plug that is torn, stiff, or no longer sealing. Always insert with clean hands to protect the seal and reduce ear-canal infection risk.
