Vented Hard Hats
Vented hard hats improve airflow for workers in hot outdoor environments where electrical hazard exposure is absent. Ventilation slots in the shell allow air circulation but compromise the shell's electrical insulation — all vented hard hats are ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 Class C. All products in this collection are verified ANSI Z89.1 certified. See the hard hat selection guide for guidance on when vented vs non-vented is appropriate.
Vented vs Non-Vented: Key Differences

Frequently Asked Questions
Are vented hard hats safe for electrical work?
No. Vented hard hats are Class C (Conductive) only — the ventilation slots break the electrical insulation of the shell. They provide ZERO electrical protection. For electrical work, always use a non-vented Class E hard hat. See best hard hats for electrical work.
What is the ANSI Class of a vented hard hat?
All vented hard hats are Class C per ANSI/ISEA Z89.1. Class C (Conductive) means no electrical protection is provided. This applies to all brands and configurations — vented shells cannot be Class E or Class G.
When should I use a vented hard hat?
Use vented hard hats only in environments without electrical hazard exposure where worker heat stress is a concern — outdoor landscaping, site grading (non-electrical), and civil work. For electrical environments, use a non-vented Class E hard hat with a cooling sweatband or liner.
Do vented hard hats provide the same impact protection as non-vented?
Yes — vented hard hats meet the same ANSI Z89.1 Type I or Type II impact test requirements as non-vented versions. The only difference is electrical protection (Class C vs Class E/G). Impact and compression protection are equivalent.
