WC Safety Editorial Pick: The TouchNTuff 93-800 is WC Safety's pick for chemical-resistant extended-cuff lab and industrial nitrile: 8.3 mil, 12-inch cuff, EN 374-rated, aqua color—the correct glove when standard nitrile gauge and cuff length aren't enough.

For a full performance breakdown, sizing analysis, and comparison against alternatives, see our Ansell TouchNTuff 93-800 Chemical-Resistant Nitrile Gloves in-depth review published by the WC Safety editorial team.

The Ansell TouchNTuff 93-800 steps well beyond standard industrial nitrile with an 8.3 mil gauge, a 12-inch extended cuff that covers the wrist and lower forearm, and EN 374 chemical permeation certification against a published panel of chemical agents. For lab environments, chemical handling, and industrial operations where incidental chemical splash reaches the wrist, the standard 9.5-inch cuff leaves an unprotected exposure gap.

Chemical laboratories requiring EN 374 glove documentation, industrial plants handling aggressive cleaning chemicals, pharmaceutical manufacturing where wrist-level exposure is a protocol risk, and any task where liquid chemical splash from containers at or above elbow height makes a 12-inch cuff a meaningful safety upgrade over standard-length gloves.

Compatibility and Application

EN 374 certification covers specific chemicals with defined breakthrough times—consult Ansell's published chemical resistance data before using with chemicals not in the tested set. For USP 800 chemo drug handling, see Kimtech Purple. For the heaviest full-arm chemical protection, chemical-resistant longer-sleeved solutions are appropriate. For a broader selection, browse the complete nitrile gloves collection at WC Safety, organized by thickness, brand, and intended use.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 12-inch extended cuff covers wrist and lower forearm—eliminates the exposure gap from container-level splashes
  • EN 374 chemical permeation certification against multiple chemical families with published breakthrough times
  • 8.3 mil gauge provides more puncture resistance than standard 5–6 mil while remaining usable
  • Aqua color distinguishes these from standard blue exam gloves in chemical handling protocols

Cons

  • 50 per box at chemical-resistant premium pricing—not cost-efficient for non-chemical industrial tasks
  • 8.3 mil and 12-inch cuff reduce dexterity—not ideal for tasks requiring maximum tactile sensitivity

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the 12-inch cuff in practical terms?

12 inches measured from the fingertip to the cuff opening. The actual forearm coverage depends on hand size; for most adults, 12 inches covers the wrist and approximately 2–3 inches of the lower forearm.

What EN 374 type rating does the 93-800 carry?

EN 374 Type B (3+ chemical challenge agents) or higher depending on the tested chemical panel. Consult the current Ansell technical data sheet for the specific type designation and tested chemical list.

Can I use the 93-800 for bleach handling?

Nitrile provides good resistance to dilute bleach concentrations used in cleaning. For concentrated sodium hypochlorite or sustained immersion, verify the specific concentration against Ansell's chemical resistance chart and breakthrough-time data.

What sizes are available for the TouchNTuff 93-800?

XS, S, M, L, XL. Use Ansell's sizing chart before ordering a full case.

How many gloves per box?

50 gloves (25 pairs) per box. Ambidextrous.

Can the 93-800 be used as a pharmacy compounding glove under USP 800?

EN 374 chemical protection covers many drugs classified as NIOSH-listed hazardous drugs. For formal USP 800 compliance in pharmacy compounding, confirm against current USP 800 language and your facility compliance officer—the Kimtech Purple is specifically marketed with USP 800 certification.

Can I wear the 93-800 over an exam glove for added protection?

Yes. Size up one size for the outer 93-800 if wearing it over a standard exam glove in a double-gloving protocol.

Does the extended cuff make donning harder?

Slightly. The additional cuff length requires pulling the glove further up the forearm. Most workers adapt quickly. The cuff should be rolled or tucked under a chemical-resistant gown sleeve for full wrist protection.

What is the shelf life for the 93-800?

Three to five years in cool, dry storage away from UV and ozone.

Is the aqua color standard for chemical-resistant gloves?

Ansell uses aqua for the TouchNTuff chemical-resistant line to distinguish it from standard blue exam gloves and purple chemo gloves. It is not a universal industry-wide standard, but within Ansell's product line it consistently identifies the chemical-resistant tier.

Can I get the 93-800 in a case of 10 boxes?

Yes. Cases are available through Amazon. Check the Amazon listing for current case quantities and pricing.

Is the 93-800 rated for organic solvents like acetone or MEK?

Nitrile provides limited resistance to aggressive ketones (acetone, MEK). Consult the Ansell chemical resistance chart for specific organic solvents before use. For high-concentration solvent tasks, a neoprene or laminated film glove may be more appropriate.

These are THICK gloves and very tough.
I will start of telling you that I use Ansell gloves every single work day all day as a mechanic. Specifically I use their microflex line and I still will use them. These gloves are as high a quality as the others. These are more suited for people working with chemicals I think but I used ONE pair for TWO weeks and I could still use them. They are tough as nails. When they started to get really dirty I kept them on and washed my hands with a citrus based hand cleaner and they looked practically new. Eventually they do get gross inside but I'm a mechanic so that's hardly a surprise. They fit perfectly to size. I wear a large in the other product I mentioned and the size is consistent. They aren't so bulky that you are swimming in them and so have good "feel" so you can accurately grip things, though not with as much precision is a thinner glove because you can't feel the part or screw or tool etc you are trying to manipulate. These are like double thick dishwashing gloves thick.Chemical resistant, absolutely! We use a drum of something akin to brake cleaner to degrease new brake rotors etc and it ruins latex and eats up most gloves but you could wash your hands in it with these TouchNTuff gloves.Bright orange.I gave these to my coworkers and they haven't worn a pair or yet. It's been weeks.I use this company's gloves exclusively because they are the highest quality I can find and worth a few extra dollars. If you are in an industry where chemical resistant and tough tear resistance is important I highly recommend you give these a try.

Outstanding Durability and Chemical Resistance
I have gone through countless brands of disposable gloves over the years, and the Ansell TouchNTuff 93-800 series is in a league of its own. If you are tired of gloves that tear the moment you pull them on or dissolve when they touch a bit of solvent, these are the solution. What Stands Out:True Chemical Resilience: Unlike standard nitrile gloves that thin out or swell when exposed to degreasers and harsh cleaners, these hold their integrity and are super thick. I’ve used them for heavy degreasing and painting, and they provide a reliable barrier every time.Exceptional Durability: These are significantly tougher than your average "medical grade" nitrile. They resist snags and punctures remarkably well, which is essential when working around rough surfaces or tools.Superior Fit (Size 9/L): The sizing is spot-on. They offer enough tactile sensitivity for precision work without feeling restrictive. The extended cuff is also a great feature, providing extra protection for the wrists.High Visibility: The vibrant orange color isn't just for show—it’s excellent for safety and makes it very easy to see if the glove has been compromised or contaminated.Performance in the Field:I’ve used these for everything from heavy-duty equipment cleaning to detailed painting projects. They manage to strike the perfect balance between being "industrial strength" and comfortable enough to wear for several hours at a time. They don't have that "sweaty" or "powdery" feel that some lower-quality brands have after twenty minutes of use.Final Verdict:While a case of 300 is a significant investment, the cost-per-use is actually lower because you aren't burning through three pairs for a single task. Whether you’re managing a professional workspace or tackling a massive renovation project, these are the only gloves you’ll want in your supply cabinet. Highly recommended.

Expensive, but worth the money
Phenominal quality gloves. These are extremely thick while remaining flexible and allowing tactile feel. The material is durable and has resisted many harsh solvents like brake cleaner, ether, and acetone. The thickness and toughness of the gloves makes them ideal for cleaning engines because they don't tear when handling parts with sharp edges or protrusions that can snag the gloves. The cuff comes further up the wrist than other standard gloves so they are great for really getting in and scrubbing. These are very expensive compared to normal nitrile gloves, and they come in at almost $1.25 per glove. That's not really a deterrent though, because I used one pair of gloves to clean a cylinder head, a task that usually burns through at least a half dozen normal nitrile gloves. I was even able to remove and reapply the gloves a couple times without any issues. These are expensive, but well worth the money to protect yourself from chemicals that can at minimum cause significant irritation.

Super Heavy Duty Gloves!
These gloves are truly heavy duty. They would remind you more of the old rubber gloves your mom washed dishes in rather than a typical nitrile glove. The material is very thick and holds up against chemicals. I own a body shop so we use a lot of solvent based paint and chemicals, so we need gloves that will hold up to that. Honestly, these are so heavy duty they are more than what we really require. We ordered a size XL and they fit properly compared to the other XL gloves we've ordered in the past. They seem to be a good value. They seem pricey per case, but once you see how heavy duty they are, a case would be almost a lifetime supply for us, because they would definitely be reusable, unlike the gloves we normally order.
