Ansell Microflex 93-256 mega texture nitrile gloves explained

The Ansell Microflex 93-256 is a hi-visibility orange glove built around one defining feature: as mega texture nitrile gloves go, this is the reference β€” a full raised pyramid texture across the whole glove that grips in wet, oily, and dry conditions alike. It is latex-free, powder-free, food-safe, and extra durable, with a dual thickness of 5.1 mil at the palm and 6.3 mil at the fingers.

As grip nitrile gloves the mega texture is the whole point; as textured orange nitrile gloves they stand out on the bench; the hi-vis build makes them high visibility nitrile gloves; and the microflex nitrile gloves name carries Ansell's pedigree.

What these gloves are for

Hands-on work where grip on slippery tools and parts matters β€” automotive and plumbing, painting, food handling, and general maintenance β€” plus the visibility of hi-vis orange. They are ranked in our orange nitrile gloves guide, our nitrile gloves for mechanics guide, and our heavy-duty nitrile gloves guide. The material background is in our nitrile gloves complete guide and nitrile vs latex gloves.

Compatibility

The mega texture and durable formula handle grease, oils, and incidental chemical contact; for sustained immersion in aggressive chemicals, step up to a dedicated chemical-resistant glove such as Ansell's own TouchNTuff 93-800. For food work, see our nitrile gloves for food service guide.

How the 93-256 compares

Within Ansell, the TouchNTuff 93-800 is the chemical specialist and the Microflex SU-690 is the durable violet exam glove; the 93-256 is the grip specialist. Against other heavy orange gloves, the Venom Steel 8 mil and GLOVEWORKS HD Orange are thicker single-layer diamond-grip options, and the SAS Astro-Grip is a 7 mil dual-sided-grip rival. Browse the full nitrile gloves collection and the wider hand protection range organized by texture, thickness, and use.

Safety note: nitrile is latex-free, so the 93-256 suits workers with a latex allergy β€” but a disposable glove reduces, and does not eliminate, chemical exposure risk. This is a grip-and-durability glove, not a chemical-immersion glove; confirm compatibility with your specific chemicals, replace gloves showing tears or punctures immediately, and use a chemical-resistant glove where the task demands more.

Ordering FAQ

Where do I buy the Ansell 93-256, and is it available?

Availability changes β€” open the linked listing for live price, size options, and delivery speed before you order.

What is mega texture?

It is Ansell's full-hand texture β€” a raised pyramid grip pattern across the whole glove, not just the fingertips. It bites into tools and parts for a secure hold in wet, oily, or dry conditions, which is the glove's defining feature.

How thick are they?

Dual thickness: 5.1 mil at the palm and 6.3 mil at the fingers. That is on the thinner side for an industrial glove, but the formulation is extra durable, so reviewers describe them as thin and strong rather than bulky.

Are they latex-free and powder-free?

Yes β€” latex-free and powder-free, so there is no natural-latex protein and no powder residue.

Are they food-safe?

Yes β€” Ansell lists them as suitable for food-handling applications as well as general-purpose work. See our nitrile gloves for food service guide.

Why the hi-visibility orange?

The bright orange adds jobsite visibility and makes it easy to spot grime, oil, or small parts against the glove during detail work.

Are they good for automotive and plumbing work?

Yes β€” reviewers who are plumbers, property managers, and DIY mechanics use them daily, praising the grip and how they resist tearing on the job better than thicker gloves that split when donning.

How are the sizes labeled?

By number: 7 (Small), 8 (Medium), 9 (Large), 10 (X-Large), and 11 (2X-Large). Measure your palm circumference and pick the matching number β€” see the manufacturer's size guide on the listing.

Are they chemical resistant?

They handle incidental contact with the chemicals standard nitrile handles, but this is a grip-and-durability glove, not a chemical-immersion glove β€” use a chemical-resistant glove for prolonged exposure.

Can I reuse them?

They are single-use gloves from the nitrile gloves range, but the durable formulation lets reviewers reuse a pair across a job. For food, medical, or contamination-control work, use them once.

How many are in a box?

100 gloves per box, with a 1000-count case option. They are ambidextrous, so any glove fits either hand.

How do I reorder for a shop?

Reorder from this page β€” the listing and its linked item stay constant, so restocking with the same box from the hand protection range takes seconds.

By Steven Eaton, WC Safety Editorial β€” hand protection desk. Specs are drawn from the manufacturer listing and published product data; we do not invent test results, and we report the real 5.1/6.3 mil thickness rather than calling a thin-but-strong glove "extra thick." Match glove texture, thickness, and task to the job.

Reading a cut level, and why the letter matters

Industrial hand protection is rated to ANSI/ISEA 105, which scores cut resistance A1 to A9 by the gram load required to cut through at a fixed distance β€” and the scale is not linear. A9 withstands roughly nine times the load of A1, and the jump from A4 to A5 is far larger than A1 to A2. The European equivalent, EN 388, uses letters A–F on a different test, so an EN rating does not map cleanly onto an ANSI level.

ANSI/ISEA 105 also scores abrasion, puncture and, where relevant, impact β€” which is a separate rating from cut and is the one that matters for back-of-hand protection. OSHA 1910.138 requires hand protection selected for the specific hazard, which is why a cut level alone is not a specification.

⚠ Cut resistance is not cut proof, and no glove rating covers a moving blade drawn under load. Ratings also degrade with wear, contamination and laundering.

The best gloves for their purpose. Thin and strong.
These are comfortable and stronger than other gloves of thicker construction. I am a plumber and property manager, and wear them every day. I wore thicker gloves from other brands for s long time, that break while putting them on. These do not have that problem! They have saved my skin from cuts many times . If you want thinner gloves with better protection, excellent traction at a good price, These are the ones to get!

Very thick and strong!
I purchased the Mega Texture glove to replace cheaper gloves that kept stretching and breaking. I use these gloves for cooking (BBQing), light gardening and working on my car and I haven't had one fail yet. Totally worth the purchase.

They stick together and tear the box up trying to get them oit
Not horrible gloves, I’m happy with them for the sale price but wouldn’t want to pay full price. Every other glove I’ve used from this company has been excellent. Still not upset about buying them
