Dräger X-plore 3300 Half Mask Respirator (Size L)
The Dräger X-plore 3300 is a German-engineered reusable half mask built for painting, chemical handling, construction and demanding DIY. Its twin bayonet filter ports balance the load across both sides of the face and lower breathing resistance, while the low-profile mounting keeps your field of vision clear.
A soft, skin-friendly sealing line provides a comfortable, reliable seal (size L). Note: this is the mask body only — pair it with Dräger X-plore bayonet filters or cartridges (P100, OV/P100, multi-gas, etc.) matched to your hazard. NIOSH-approved (Model R55332). Fit testing is required under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.

What to check before you buy
- Cartridge matched to the contaminant
- A half mask is only as good as what is fitted to it. Particulate filters do nothing for vapors, and gas/vapor cartridges do nothing for particulates.
- Assigned protection factor
- A half mask carries an assigned protection factor of 10 under OSHA 1910.134. If the exposure exceeds ten times the occupational exposure limit, it is the wrong class of respirator.
- Change-out schedule
- OSHA requires a cartridge change schedule based on objective data. Waiting to smell or taste breakthrough is not acceptable for substances with poor warning properties.
- Facepiece size
- Half masks come in sizes and fit testing is done on the specific make, model and size. A different size is a different respirator.

Frequently asked questions
What protection factor does a half mask provide?
OSHA assigns half mask air-purifying respirators an assigned protection factor of 10, meaning they are suitable up to ten times the occupational exposure limit when properly fitted.
How do I know when to change cartridges?
Use a change-out schedule based on objective data - manufacturer software, published breakthrough data or workplace monitoring. Odor and taste are unreliable and unacceptable as the sole trigger.
Can I use the same cartridge for dust and fumes?
Only if it is rated for both. Particulate filters capture solids and aerosols; gas and vapor cartridges use sorbent chemistry. Combination cartridges do both, and are marked accordingly.
Does OSHA require fit testing?
For tight-fitting respirators used under a required respiratory protection program, 1910.134 requires a medical evaluation first, fit testing before initial use, and fit testing at least annually thereafter.
Can I wear a respirator with facial hair?
Not a tight-fitting one. Hair crossing the sealing surface prevents a seal and the respirator will not deliver its rated protection. Loose-fitting PAPRs are the usual alternative.
What is a user seal check?
A quick positive and negative pressure check performed every time the respirator is donned. It confirms the respirator is seated - it does not replace fit testing.
Where do the specifications on this page come from?
They are taken from the manufacturer's published listing. WC Safety does not laboratory-test products, and nothing is claimed here that the manufacturer does not state.
