The 3M 6007 is a NIOSH-approved gas and vapor cartridge built for one of the most demanding chemistries 3M offers — mercury vapor, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, organic vapor, and hydrogen sulfide. Its swept-back design widens the wearer's field of view and reduces bulk, while the universal 3M bayonet connection lets it twist onto 3M reusable half- and full-face respirators without adapters. For facilities that handle mercury, chlor-alkali processes, wastewater, or mixed acid-gas/solvent exposures, the 6007 consolidates several hazards into a single cartridge and reduces inventory complexity.

What the 6007 Protects Against

• Mercury vapor — with an end-of-service-life indicator (ESLI) chemistry class
• Chlorine & sulfur dioxide (acid gases)
• Organic vapor — solvents and many hydrocarbons
• Hydrogen sulfide (escape applications per NIOSH)

Important: the 6007 is a gas/vapor cartridge only — it does not filter particulates. If your job also produces dust, mist, or fume, add a 3M 2091 P100 filter, or step up to the combination 3M 60927, which adds a bonded P100 particulate filter to the same mercury/OV/acid-gas chemistry.

Typical Applications

Mercury recovery and instrument repair, chlor-alkali plants, wastewater and water-treatment facilities, laboratories, and any operation with combined mercury-vapor and acid-gas or organic-vapor exposure confirmed by an OSHA exposure assessment.

Color Code & Change-Out

Multi-gas cartridges carry combination color bands under ANSI/ISEA 110 (see the cartridge color code guide). Mercury cartridges include an end-of-service-life indicator, but you must still follow a written change-out schedule under OSHA 1910.134(d)(3) — never rely on smell or taste.
