Cut Resistant Ergodyne Gray ProFlex Thermal Winter Gloves Work Gloves
EDITORIAL REVIEW: 4.5/5 — WC Safety Review of the Ergodyne ProFlex 922CR, a cut-and-warmth glove for cold work.
Editorial assessment by the WC Safety Editorial Team, based on published Ergodyne specifications and category fit. We did not laboratory-test this product.

The Ergodyne ProFlex 922CR combines cut resistance with thermal insulation for cold-environment work, pairing an ANSI-rated cut liner with thermal construction and a gray nitrile palm for cold, lightly wet grip. It suits cold storage, cold-chain logistics, and outdoor winter construction, reducing the need to layer a cut glove over a thermal one.

Why the Ergodyne ProFlex 922CR keeps hands warm and protected

Cold-storage and winter crews face two hazards that single-purpose gloves handle badly: sharp materials and cold. Layering a cut glove over a thermal one kills dexterity, and a bare thermal glove leaves hands exposed to edges. The 922CR folds both into one — an ANSI-rated cut liner for sharp stock and thermal construction that holds hand temperature in freezers and outdoor winter work, with a gray nitrile palm that grips in cold, lightly wet conditions. It is the no-layering cold-work choice. As cut-resistant gloves go, this is the cut-and-warmth pick, and the best cut-resistant gloves guide and complete cut-glove guide cover how to match glove to task. It handles cold and cut together.

Safety first: the 922CR is a cut and thermal glove, not a chemical glove — it is not rated for a chemical splash hazard. If your task involves solvents, degreasers, acids, or other chemicals, wear dedicated chemical-resistant gloves selected by breakthrough time, and see the chemical-resistant gloves guide. The listing states an ANSI/ISEA 105 cut liner but does not give a numeric cut level, so confirm the A-rating on the listing and use the ANSI A1-A9 cut-level guide to match it to your hazard. Cut resistance is not puncture resistance. Replace worn gloves.

What the Ergodyne ProFlex 922CR listing documents

From the published specs: an ANSI/ISEA 105 cut-resistant liner (level not specified); thermal insulation for cold work; a gray nitrile palm for cold, lightly wet grip; and dual cut-and-cold protection in one glove. These are true cut resistant thermal gloves credentials and a genuine set of cold storage gloves — a no-layering pair of winter cut gloves. The point is to cover both hazards without stacking two gloves.

How the Ergodyne ProFlex 922CR compares to other gloves

For a cold glove that adds TPR impact guards, the Ergodyne ProFlex 7521; for a waterproof winter cut glove, the 7551; for a waterproof impact glove, the 925WP; and for pure cut in dry conditions, the A4 7024 or A5 7042. The mechanics cut-glove guide covers dry-condition options.

Choosing the right glove for the hazard

Match the glove to the dominant hazards. For cut families, browse the nitrile gloves and impact-resistant gloves collections and the cut-vs-impact guide; for heat, the heat-resistant gloves; for the ranked picks, the nitrile-vs-PU coating guide; and for leather, the leather work gloves collection and mechanics gloves collection.

Where it fits by job and team orders

The 922CR suits cold-storage crews, cold-chain logistics teams, and outdoor winter trades who face cut and cold together and want to skip layering. Confirm the cut level for your hazard, keep a rated chemical glove for solvent tasks, size the glove snug for control, and replace worn pairs once the liner cuts or the insulation packs down. Very durable compared to other brands of the same style...
After having bought several pair of Ringers brand impact/cut resistant Kevlar gloves designed quite similarly to this product; it was only after having to tried these because of a significant price difference at the time that I learned how much better these are in durability. The nitrile coating on the palm side of the has lasted much longer here and is actually still intact after over two months of daily use in the machine shop I work for. I don't recall exactly how long it took for the coating to wear off of the Ringers, but it was the main cause for buying replacements. After the coating wore through, oils and soot saturated the Kevlar and soon my hands as well. Long before the gloves really accumulated much wear to the material, they were just getting me unnecessarily dirty whenever I used them. These last significantly longer and also feature a reinforced webbing between the thumb and index fingers, which is always the first place this style of glove seems to break down. My only real complaint with these is a complaint that I have with nearly all gloves. I do not care for the long wrist portion and would prefer that gloves end just past what I call the heel of my palm. I realize that it's just more cut protective this way, but i just find it very uncomfortable and so, with a great and annoying amount of effort, I always cut them off to suit my preference. This is obviously just a personal issue and others likely don't share my feelings on this. I would also like to commend the fit of these gloves, since it was my original reason for choosing them. I can perform basically any dextrous tasks wearing these gloves because they stay tight. I can pick up coins, start small screws, and handle very small hex keys with no trouble and this style of glove is the only cut resistant glove I can say that about.

The price was a little high. Quality is most important.
I use these gloves for misc. construction, they arrived on time and the large size fits just right they’ve lasted 1 month so far. And I hope to get many more.

as a "Cut 5" - fair (well made, just thinner like an enhanced Cut 4)
This is a Cut 4 grade fabric with the enhancements on the back to kick it over the baseline of Cut 5.As a Cut 4 - excellent, coating in palm - appears good (as of yet untested in the field) and the backing - excellent.Does not compare to the Cut Armor Brand Cut 5 (thicker). Compared to Cut Armor's back - this backing is less susceptible to tear off but it too is not as thick. My last pair of the Cut 5's - worn out / extreme use, well used are thicker than these out of the box.I will keep them (2 pr) only as I need to have something with the backing for some situations. This is "out of box review only" When tested in the field, will add more so not to be mis leading and the likelihood someone will want to sue. I push the 5's to the limits but I will need to be careful with these or the results could be "problematic". Will keep looking.

★☆☆☆☆
Very poor quality
I bought these for use in a sheet metal shop. The design was interesting and they fit fairly good but the quality of manufacturing is very poor. The coating to the surface is nice and pretty strong for gripping but it begins to flake away very quickly with use.The rubber guards and padding is fairly good but the company got exteemely cheap with how they attached them. They have a single line of very weak stitching rather than being glued or bonded. This means the stitching comes apart very easily and they start to fall apart quickly. The fabric is NOT cut resistant in any way as I had a sheet slice right through a knuckle on day one. These are not worth the price by any stretch of the mind and are little more than one or two use garage gloves. They are not of good quality for a professional environment and do not live up to their marketing.I do NOT recommend these.

Runs big.
The gloves themselves are ok. My issue is the sizing. Most otter gloves like this tend to run on the smaller side so they fit snug. These things run huge. Sadly I can’t use them when my finger tips don’t actually fit all the way in the tip. They also stretched quite a bit in short order so they were nearly as tight around the wrist.
