Why the Ergodyne ProFlex 7551 does three cold-weather jobs

Winter utility and construction work throws three problems at your hands at once: sharp glass and metal, cold, and wet. The 7551 answers all three in one glove — an A5 cut liner on a 13-gauge HPPE shell for glass, sheet metal, and wire; a full waterproof exterior that sheds water and sleet; and a brushed fleece lining for warmth. It saves you carrying separate cut, waterproof, and winter gloves. As cut-resistant gloves go, this is the cold-and-wet cut pick, and the best A5 cut-glove guide and complete cut-glove guide cover how to match glove to task. It keeps hands cut-safe, dry, and warm.

Safety first: the 7551's waterproof exterior is a natural rubber latex coating, so a worker with a latex allergy should choose a non-latex waterproof glove instead — natural rubber latex can cause allergic reactions on contact. It is also a cut glove, not a chemical glove: it is not rated for chemical splash, so for solvents or acids wear dedicated chemical-resistant gloves and see the chemical-resistant gloves guide. Match the A5 cut level to your hazard with the ANSI A1-A9 cut-level guide; cut resistance is not puncture resistance. Replace the gloves once the coating cracks or the liner shows cuts.

What the Ergodyne ProFlex 7551 listing documents

From the published specs: ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 Level A5 cut resistance; a 13-gauge HPPE fiber knit shell; a full waterproof latex exterior coating; and a brushed fleece winter lining. These are true waterproof winter gloves credentials and a genuine set of a5 cut resistant gloves — a triple-duty pair of cold weather work gloves.

How the Ergodyne ProFlex 7551 compares to other gloves

For a thermal cut glove with impact guards instead of waterproofing, the Ergodyne ProFlex 7521; for a cut-and-thermal glove, the 922CR; for a waterproof impact glove, the 925WP; and for dry A5 cut, the food-grade 7040 or industrial 7042. The A4-vs-A5 guide explains the cut-level step.

Choosing the right glove for the hazard

Match the glove to the dominant hazards. For cut families, browse the nitrile gloves and impact-resistant gloves collections, the ranked best cut-glove guide, and the cut-vs-impact guide; for the mechanic's bench, the mechanics gloves collection; and for leather, the leather work gloves collection.

Where it fits by job and team orders

The 7551 suits winter utility crews, outdoor construction, and cold-storage workers handling sharp glass, metal, or wire in cold, wet conditions. Confirm A5 fits your cut hazard, keep a non-latex option for latex-sensitive workers, size the glove snug for dexterity, and replace worn pairs once the waterproof coating cracks or the fleece packs down and stops insulating. In milder cold without the wet exposure, a lighter dry cut glove such as the foam-nitrile 7031 keeps more dexterity than a fully waterproof winter build. Very grippy. Not very warm. Wears well.
I've used 2 pairs over 3 years, so they hold up great. The grippy surface shredded off my first pair after a year or so, because I was spinning garbage bags closed, and the grippy glove got caught in the twisting bag. A little care solved that issue. In fact, the wonderful gripping is what I like best about them. They fit tight at first, then they're just right and flexible. I like that the tightness makes a perfect fit long-term. I never got cut or punctured in my yard work setting, yet I wasn't worried or careful about it. My first leak came when the first finger tip wore thin and broke. Yet, I instantly bought another pair and will buy another third pair in the future. They are not very warm in snow, and not very hot in summer.

Small size work gloves that are ACTUALLY a small size!
Like a lot of other women working in fields that require full PPE, it is consistently a pain to find equipment that actually fits me as its intended to. This may be the first pair of work gloves I've ever owned that were actually almost too small. The touch-screen functionality works about as well as you would expect for rubber-coated cut-resistant gloves, which is to say, clumsily. It does work, but it leaves you poking around your phone screen with one finger in a less-than-elegant way. That said, I do appreciate that it worked, because I was not feeling particularly inclined to take my gloves off while on a job site in 9 degree weather (Fahrenheit)On really cold days, I still had to tuck my hands into my overalls to stay warm, but these gloves kept me from completely freezing when I needed to use my hands, and on normal only-slightly-below-freezing winter days, they kept me warm pretty well. They seem pretty durable, so I imagine I won't be needing new ones anytime soon, but if I do, I would definitely buy these again.

Good gloves but not suitable for work in cold
The gloves are very good. They work well with smartphone, has good grip, good dexterity, and waterproof, oil proof. But when you are working in cold weathers escpecially in snow the fingers get very cold. The gloves provide good warmth for palm but for fingers every 10-15 min fingers go numb due to coldness.

Durable, flexible and watertight.
Durable, flexible and watertight.Thick enough to protect against bumps and scrapes that otherwise would cause bleeders. The lining is warm allowing for a lot of work in the garden in foul, cold weather.Do not put in the washing machine. The lining comes off.I wear lady glove size 71/2 and size L (9) in these is very comfy.I had not intended them to handle a touch screenas I only use them in wet to muddy environments but they appear to do so (typing this with the glove on.)

The insides get wet after two hours work in the rain.
I work construction in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot especially during the cold winter. These gloves absorb water through the wrist fabric so after two hours of work the inside of your gloves are soaking wet.Even when they are wet inside they stay warm, so that's good. They are good gloves for when it is dry and cold.I bought two pair so I put on the dry ones half way through the day. When I get home I put them on my boot dryer, I have one that dries boots and gloves at the same time.I have to run the dryer for two 2 hour cycles to get each pair dry, so I have to remember to keep my boot dryer going all evening after work to get both pairs dry, you can toss them in the clothes dryer but the fingertips don't get all the way dry that way.I wouldn't buy these if there is something better.

Not for freezers, Not for work.
The Good: Waterproof, TouchscreenThe Bad: Grip, Warmth, SizeThe TLDR: Not for ladders, especially in wet conditions. Not for temps below freezing. Not comfortable for all day use.The Rundown: I work in a facility that processes and packages frozen veggies. Because of the poor grip, these gloves are absolutely NOT SAFE for the work place if you climb ladders, especially in wet conditions. They also don't keep your hands warm below freezing temps. 5 minutes and fingers are cold, 10 minutes is unbearably cold at 0 degrees. The size was poor because they're too long in the fingers AND too snug, which makes them uncomfortable after a half hour or so. They're also stiff and not very tactile for tools and repairs. I hoped these would work well for the occasional 30 to 60 minutes working on freezer equipment, but they cover none of those bases. If you need a decent pair of cheap gloves for shoveling snow or an emergency tire change, buy a size up from your usual and you'll probably be okay.

Great!
They work great. I got them for 9 year old daughter to play in the snow with. I got the small size and they fit great. 100% waterproof and they kept her hands warm longer than bulkier, traditional gloves. She loves them.

They protect and insulate
They fit, are comfortable and provide sufficient thermal protection. Other cur resistant gloves cannot be worn in cold weather unless inside cover gloves. That destroys dexterity

Good insulating work gloves for cold conditions.
Work well. Great cut resistant winter work gloves. Fit was accurate for brand, grip well in wet conditions like snow. Easy to pull on and remove while working.
