Rating shown is the Amazon customer rating at the time of writing, not our own score. Specification-based assessment by Steven Eaton, WC Safety Editorial, from the published KEEN Utility listing and ASTM F2413 protective-footwear requirements. We have not hands-on or laboratory-tested this product.
The Lansing is the mid-height mobility pick of KEEN's set: steel toe and waterproofing in a lighter, faster package than the 6-inch Pittsburgh β the boot for workers who cover ground all shift and feel every ounce by afternoon.

- KEEN Utility Men's Lansing Mid Steel Toe Waterproof Work Boot
Where this model fits
It suits logistics, yard work, and light-site roles in wet conditions where mobility beats shaft coverage. Heavy construction with ankle-strike and debris exposure still argues for the taller members of the family.
Category guidance lives in our safety-boot selection guide and the steel vs composite toe comparison; ASTM F2413 markings are decoded in the footwear ratings reference.
How we assess this product
WC Safety is an independent PPE review and research site. We do not sell, ship, or stock anything, and we have not physically tested this work boot. What we do is read the published KEEN Utility specification against the governing standard, flag what the listing does and does not state, and place the product in context next to the alternatives we cover. Where a number matters for compliance - a rating, a class, a temperature, a voltage - we take it from the manufacturer listing and expect you to confirm it on the live listing before you buy. The star rating on this page belongs to Amazon customers, not to us. Read more across our hand protection and hard hats coverage.

What to check before you buy
- ASTM F2413 markings
- The marking on the boot tells you what it is rated for - impact and compression (I/C 75 or 50), plus optional ratings such as metatarsal (Mt), electrical hazard (EH), static dissipative (SD) or puncture resistance (PR).
- Toe cap material
- Steel is thinnest for a given protection level; composite is non-metallic and does not conduct temperature or trip metal detectors; alloy sits between the two.
- Electrical hazard vs. static dissipative
- EH insulates the wearer from live circuits; SD does the opposite and bleeds static to ground. They are not interchangeable and choosing wrongly removes the protection you wanted.
- Fit over the whole shift
- Feet swell during a shift. A boot fitted tight first thing in the morning is a different boot by mid-afternoon.

Frequently asked questions
What do I give up dropping from 6-inch to mid?
Shaft coverage: less protection against ankle strikes, splash, and debris ingress. What you gain is articulation, weight, and heat β the trade that walking-heavy roles feel as less end-of-shift fatigue.
Is the Lansing's protection class the same as the taller boots?
The rated elements β steel cap, waterproof membrane β are the same class; height is coverage, not rating. Compliance-wise the ASTM toe marking is what your program requires.
How do I confirm safety-toe fit in a mid?
With work socks, standing and crouched: toes must never touch the cap, and the heel must not lift. Mids fit closer to athletic sizing than traditional boots β check rather than assume your leather-boot size.
