Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 Cordless Earplugs Overview

The Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 Cordless Earplugs are cordless single-use foam ear plugs from Howard Leight, rated NRR 32 dB. With no cord to catch or snag, they keep a low profile for tight and confined spaces β€” the most economical choice for high-volume single-use. Start with our hearing-protection guide and what NRR means, then confirm the noise level you’re protecting against.

The Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 belong to the cordless ear plugs range. They are single-use (replace when soiled or no longer springy); for the trade-offs see foam vs reusable ear plugs.

What NRR 32 dB Means

NRR is a laboratory rating; NIOSH suggests derating it for real-world use. Here is how NRR 32 dB lines up with common environments (always confirm with a noise survey):

Environment Approx. noise Fit for NRR?
Power tools / workshop (~95 dBA) ~83 dBA after derating Good fit
Heavy equipment / construction (~100 dBA) ~88 dBA after derating Good fit
Manufacturing / plant floor (~90 dBA) ~78 dBA after derating Good fit
Firearms / impact (140 dB peak) Impulse noise Add earmuffs (dual)

Who Should Buy the Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1?

Buy them if you want single-use foam hearing protection in a low-profile uncorded design at NRR 32 dB. Consider another plug if you need a different level or style: compare Airsoft DPAS-1, Multi Max MM-1, FirmFit FF-1. For the highest ratings see highest-NRR ear plugs.

Hearing protection only works when worn correctly for the full exposure. The NRR is a laboratory rating; real-world attenuation is typically lower, so OSHA and NIOSH recommend derating it when estimating protection. For very high noise β€” or whenever earplugs alone can’t bring exposure under about 85 dBA β€” wear them with earmuffs (dual protection). The Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 reduces noise; it does not eliminate it or protect against non-noise hazards.

Best Applications

Industrial & construction noise

Power tools, plants and construction work at sustained high noise suit a low-profile uncorded NRR 32 plug that won’t snag in tight spaces.

Shooting & range use

For range and shooting use, pair a high NRR with muffs for impulse noise.

What is the NRR of the Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1?

The Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 are rated NRR 32 dB (EPA-labeled per ANSI S3.19). Real-world protection is usually lower, so NIOSH recommends derating the NRR when estimating exposure.

They are single-use (replace when soiled or no longer springy).

How do I insert the Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1?

To fit them, roll them down between your fingers, pull the ear up and back, and insert β€” they expand to seal the canal. A proper seal is what delivers the rated protection.

NRR 32 dB suits common industrial noise once derated; for very high or impulse noise, add earmuffs for dual protection. See what NRR means.

No. A cord is only for retention; an uncorded plug with the same body and seal delivers the same NRR.

Are the Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 NIOSH/EPA labeled?

Yes β€” NRR 32 dB is EPA-labeled under ANSI S3.19. WC Safety sells authentic Howard Leight hearing protection through legitimate channels.

Can I buy the Howard Leight Laser Lite LL-1 in bulk or by the case?

Yes. Use the Request a Quote option for case and dispenser pricing on volume orders.

Should I choose ear plugs or ear muffs?

Plugs suit tight spaces, heat and all-day wear; muffs are faster on/off. Many high-noise jobs use both β€” see ear plugs vs ear muffs.

you won't "err" with these 'plugs
there is, of course, a certain subjectivity inherent to the evaluation of an earplug's utility. The prime issue is that of the ear canal and whether or not yours are normal shaped pathways that provide a snug home for foam noise blockers or are, like mine, misshapen corridors of bone and flesh to which no earplug material seems to conform. With that in mind, these particular Howard Leight's do the best total job of getting in my ear, staying there, and blocking out noise. There are some that are better at the last item in that list, but there's no real point in using them if they constantly wiggle and pop out. YES. Before you say it. YES, I do know how to put an earplug in. Many still won't stay in there - perhaps it's because of my strangely shapen inner ear regions, or perhaps it's just a secret truth of earplugs. Whatever it is, THESE work well. Oddly enough, the other Howard Leight make I tried - the MAX 1 - was AWFUL. Again though, I think there's some subjectivity here that's unavoidable due to ear shape and so forth. Whatever the case may be, these particular plugs are my jam and that's that.SPECIFICALLY:1) noise reduction - very good. I live in a noisy apartment and if I use them along with a loud circular fan, I can sleep through the night. Good for dulling out loud voices, cancelling out regular ones. No ear plug or ear muffs ever made will block out the thudding noise of footfalls or idiots slamming doors, alas. While it goes beyond the scope of this review, I beg of you, if you are sensitive to noise, be sure to rent on the top floor.2) comfort - very comfortable. they fit in nicely and stay there.3) aesthetic - very nice futuristic style that seems akin to a rocket ship or a beautifully designed nuclear power plant cooling tower. They look cool when I find them on the floor or see them sitting in the garbage. Makes me think I live in a special era of human progress.

Howard Leight, I don't know who you are, but I love you for making these earplugs.
I'm a little embarrassed to say that finding earplugs I like has been a lifelong search and an exercise in futility (okay, not life-long, but for the past 9 years since I started wearing them to sleep). Stores such as Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target, and most grocery stores only carry a few brands; usually the "Sleep Pretty in Pink" women's earplugs (because pink=female, natch; and it's important to be pretty, even when unconscious!), Hearoes (with varying noise reduction ratings), and the moldable wax swimming earplugs. Even the earplugs with the highest noise reduction ratings were sub-par, and many of them fell out of my ear by morning. We also sleep with a fan, and with any of those earplugs I could hear the fan clear as day. After years of this, I finally thought to look on Amazon and found these. I'm not sure why they're colored like they're carrying a glow stick on their way to a rave, but I don't care. Men, don't let the cotton candy colors dissuade you from buying these. The feature I love most (and I don't know why all earplugs aren't made this way) is the "handle" on the end - easy to grab when taking them out, and adds an extra seal against your ear after they are inserted. They also make it helpful to know when to stop pushing them in. They aren't as dense as some of the other earplugs I've tried, but somehow they shut out more noise.I don't think they are meant to last for more than a few uses. But considering you get a thousand of them in one box (okay, 200 pairs), this isn't a big deal. Use them once, toss 'em. Each pair comes packaged in individual plastic bags. I've gotten the best sleep I've had in years. And even though they shut out all the noise that bothers me, I'm still able to hear my kids when they come in to wake me up at the crack of dawn (perhaps it's the clear, piercing toddler voices). Thank you, rave earplugs. Now I need to go re-evaluate my life after leaving the longest Amazon review I've ever written...for earplugs.

Best Earplugs Ever!
I love these earplugs. Finally found earplugs that are comfortable to use for sleep andkeep the noise level to a minimum. The slow rebound of the foam earplugs expands enough to mold to my ear canals and not over expand as to where my ears canals would ache as they do with other products that I have tried and I have tried many. Great product! Thank you!

Best foamies around.
These are hands down the best ear plugs I’ve ever used. They soft but firm, they fill the entire ear canal, they’re flanged to prevent being stuck in your ear canal and they have the highest decibel rating I could fine. I work night, so I sleep during the day and these are an absolute life saver.

There is a cord connecting the pair, even though the ad says they are uncorded.
The ear plug packaging pictured in the ad states "Uncorded." But the product delivered has a cord connecting the two ear plugs. To me, this is an annoying and unnecessary feature. But, once the string is cut off, they are very effective ear plugs.

Only ones that work for me
I wear earplugs to bed every night. There's something weird about my ear canals and I can't put this type of foam ear plugs in the "correct" way. These have a flare at one end. So I put them in "backwards". They are very comfortable and still block most of the small noises, like the fridge or outside noises so I can fall asleep. These are also a good deal for the quantity you receive. I cant' say that they "stay in place" because I use them backwards, but these are the only earplugs that work for me.

Effective at eliminating outside noise.
I have tried many, many ear plugs for sleeping- foam, silicone, loops. Even tried the very expensive, over $200 pair that work through Bluetooth and have a million different noise cancelling settings. But I always come back to these. With a partner that snore quite loudly, these allow me to get a good nights sleep. That said, you have to learn how to put them in correctly. But once you do, and they make a seal, I think they’re the most effective of any I’ve tried.

This is the only ear plug I will ever buy again. They don't hurt & I sleep through the night.
I've tried dozens of ear plugs. My sister gave me these and said she loves them. I wrote her a thank you note. These stay is place, don't hurt in the middle of the night and block all noise. They're easy to put in the ear, you don't worry about quality and the best part is when they expand in your ear and all the noise goes away. 10 out of 10 for Quality, fit, and seal.

Buy these instead of cheap alternatives for firearm shooting. It's worth it for your hearing.
For indoor range firearm shooting, these are great. I tried some cheaper ones here on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08273T5XC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) and they were not very good for shooting at all. When I A/B tested between those and these Howard Leights, the HL plugs seemed to block out AT LEAST 3-6 more dB. It was obvious as heck, and that matters when you're around firearms. On top of that, these plugs are way more comfortable. They're a lot softer and I find it impressive that while they feel much softer they provide more sound blockage, so cudos on the design/engineer team that developed these.Took off one star only because 5 is reserved for perfection, which would be absolute perfect comfort and even higher noise reduction.

Among the best earplugs currently available for market
As someone who likes to sleep in as close to pure silence as is possible, I am truly pleased with these specific earplugs. I've found them to be among the best in terms of noise cancellation, comfort, and general quality.Generally, I do not hear any of the various noises that would bother me, such as individuals being loud downstairs while talking or playing something from speakers. Yes, that is an issue I often have to deal with since everyone in this house has awkward sleeping schedules, generally different from each other. On that note, when I stay up too late and want to finally turn-in, these are great to help block out a barking dog or chirping bird that just won't stop.In terms of comfort, they're easily the least uncomfortable foam earplug I've tried. This may be a personal thing, but these sorts of plugs are always uncomfortable after being in long enough, so this is a bit of an awkward area to judge. That being said, it's usually never bad enough after an hour or two of use. In most cases, this is more than enough time to either get to sleep or have whatever noise it is you're trying to avoid expire. They stick in pretty well if you properly and deeply insert them. Can't say how big or small the size is relative to my ears, since I don't know if my inner ear is smaller or larger than average; all I can say is they do pretty well staying put. I don't think I've had any issues with them coming out after a night's rest. There's was one time where they were removed from my ears as I woke up, but given that they were in a neat pile on my side table, I'll assume I removed them in a half-awake state at some point.I appreciate how each set of plugs is individually wrapped, and I have noticed no weird smell or film on any of them I've used so far. I've re-used a set about three or four times, which leads me to believe they're fairly durable as they keep shape and effectiveness at least up to that point. This effectively triples the value of the product, which is a huge win for me.Finally, and most importantly, the aesthetics are legit. The strawberry lemonade color scheme is pretty radDon't think I can say much more than that. I've shopped around, trying various different earplugs, both foam and silicone, yet these are the ones that stand out. I'll likely keep stocked on these going forward, and if you require a massive reduction in any inconsiderate noise pollution, you should too.

200 pairs of the world's best earplugs, cheap. Don't be fooled by look-alike knockoffs!
If you are looking for earplugs, then as far as I am concerned, the only question is: do you want them on a string, or no string?I have been through hundreds, maybe thousands of earplugs in my life. Everything from the rough yellow nerf cylinders to expensive reusable "audiophile" earplugs. The short version is, these are the ones to get. And don't be fooled by the CVS or Walgreen's look-alikes, you want the actual Howard Leight brand, especially at this price (cheaper than the knockoffs!) They are not made of the same material/construction!These earplugs have a super-soft, crinkly/squishy sort of texture that only this brand seems to get right. They compress down to practically nothing, then gradually fill up your ear-hole with a super-comfortable, super-thorough seal. The result is a VERY effective and consistent "turning down the volume" of the world. It neither makes you deaf, nor does it ruin your ability to hear a full spectrum of frequencies, which is important for musicians, and also for people who just need to hear and understand their co-workers in a noisy environment. If you're a musician, these make stage volume sound like the same material at club volume, instead of making loud volume sound like loud muffled bass and nothing else. If you're on a shooting range or a noisy job site, you'll still be able to hear and understand speech, it will just sound like the volume knob is turned down. If you are trying to sleep, your alarm clock will still cut through, these are just going to take the volume of traffic, road, and background noise down a few notches.Other earplugs, including other ones that look the same, are not as good. This specific brand is consistently:- The most comfortable- The easiest to insert and use- The best at reducing broadband sound levels- The best at not just muffling highs while letting deafening lows get through. If you ever use earplugs in your life, buy these. The only question is whether you want the ones with strings (for job sites and places where you need to take them in and out throughout the day) or stringless (for sleeping or appearance). Buy the Howard Leights and don't look back. You can spend more, but you won't get better.

Silenced the Grizzly Bear and the Interstate
I consider myself an earplug connoisseur… no, an earplug snoop. If it exists, I’ve tried it. Foam, silicone, wax, weird Christmas tree-shaped onesβ€”if it promised sleep, it has been in my ear.For context, I’m a light sleeper with the auditory sensitivity of a deer in the wilderness. My husband snores like a full-grown grizzly bear asserting dominance over the forest, and we live on a busy road that makes it feel like I’m bedding down directly on the interstate shoulder. Between the bear and the semi-trucks, sleep has been more of a suggestion than a reality.Enter these glorious little miracles. They are soft, squishy, and have elite reboundβ€”like memory foam mattresses for your ear holes. They don’t cause that awful ear cartilage pain that makes you question your life choices at 2am. And most importantly, they actually block out the noise. Not β€œkinda help,” not β€œmuffle-ish.” Block. It. Out.I sleep so soundly with these that I briefly considered checking for a pulse in the morning.Pro tip: I do cut about 1/8” off the tops to make them fit my ears perfectly. And yes, I shove them in so deeply every night that I go to sleep wondering if tomorrow’s agenda will include an urgent care visit titled β€œMa’am, why is this in your brain?” But somehow, every morning, they come out easily and with zero drama. No pain. No panic. No grizzly bear.Just sleep.10/10. Would trust with my life, my sanity, and my marriage.

They work and are confortable.
These are great. I have not used them for a years, but started again and I wake up notably more refreshed. I researched a little, and apparently noises that don't wake you up can still disrupt your sleep. I already have sleep fragmentation, so I need all the help getting restful sleep that I can.The bad news: for 200 of these the price went up by $10 since April 2023. I am not exactly sure when the price went up, but I am guessing it is due to tariffs because they are made of bamboo.
