Uvex S39610C Stealth Safety Goggles, Clear Uvextreme Anti-Fog Sealed Goggle (Indirect Vent) Overview

The Uvex S39610C Stealth Safety Goggles deliver sealed, indirect-vent eye protection for industrial, laboratory, and jobsite environments where open-frame safety glasses leave gaps. Unlike spectacles, this is a sealed goggle: the soft body conforms to the face and creates a continuous barrier that helps block liquid splash, airborne dust, and flying particles from reaching the eyes.

The clear polycarbonate lens carries the factory Uvextreme anti-fog coating, and the goggle's indirect venting channels air through baffled ports so you get circulation against fogging without giving splash a straight path to the eye. The wraparound, low-profile shape sits close to the face, fits over many smaller prescription frames, and layers cleanly under a hard hat or alongside a respirator. The clear tint is the right choice for indoor and general-purpose work that demands full light transmission, the same selection logic covered in our lens color chart.

Built to the Z87.1 standard for impact-rated primary eye protection, the S39610C is a dependable pick when you need a sealed barrier rather than open glasses. Browse the full range of safety goggles or compare against other anti-fog safety glasses before you buy.

What It Is Built For

Use case Fit Buyer guidance
Liquid or chemical splash near the eyes Strong fit The sealed goggle body and indirect venting block splash that open glasses cannot. Confirm the splash-rating marking matches your task; see our Z87.1 standard explainer.
Dusty or particulate-heavy environments Strong fit A sealed seal keeps airborne dust out far better than open-frame glasses. Indirect vents reduce fogging while limiting dust ingress.
Wearing over prescription eyeglasses Good fit (smaller frames) The low-profile design fits over many smaller prescription frames. For a dedicated wide OTG goggle, see the Sellstrom S71100 OTG.
Indoor / general-purpose work Strong fit The clear lens gives maximum light transmission for indoor tasks. For bright outdoor glare, choose a gray or tinted lens instead.
Bright outdoor sunlight Poor fit The clear lens offers no glare reduction. Switch to gray/smoke tint from our tinted safety glasses for outdoor use.
Layering with a respirator or hard hat Good fit The low-profile wraparound seats under most hard hats and alongside half-mask respirators; verify your specific facepiece does not break the seal.

Safety eyewear must meet ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2020 and be matched to the hazard — Z87+ for high-impact work, the correct lens tint for the light, and a sealed safety goggle for chemical splash or fine dust where open-frame glasses leave gaps. Under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.133, employers must provide eye protection suited to the hazard. Replace any lens that is scratched or pitted, since surface damage weakens impact resistance. See our safety glasses buyer's guide.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Sealed goggle body blocks splash and airborne dust that open-frame glasses let through
  • Factory Uvextreme anti-fog coating on a clear polycarbonate lens
  • Indirect venting promotes airflow against fogging without a straight splash path
  • Low-profile wraparound fits over many smaller prescription frames
  • Built to the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 impact standard for primary eye protection
  • Layers under hard hats and alongside respirators for full PPE stacks
Cons
  • Clear lens has no glare reduction, not for bright outdoor sun
  • Sealed designs run warmer and can still fog in extreme humidity without care
  • Wide prescription frames may not fit, use a dedicated OTG goggle instead
  • Anti-fog and lens coatings degrade with abrasive wiping, follow cleaning guidance

How It Compares

Within the Uvex Stealth and sealed-goggle family, the S39610C pairs the clear lens with the single-layer Uvextreme anti-fog coating. If you want a tougher dual-action coating, the Uvex S3960D Stealth with Dura-streme adds anti-scratch on the outside and anti-fog on the inside, the better choice for high-abrasion duty. For impact-and-splash work in a different sealed body, compare the 3M Centurion 452AF. If you specifically need to wear larger prescription glasses underneath, step up to the wide Sellstrom S71100 OTG goggle. For full selection help across sealed and open styles, see our safety glasses buyer's guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Uvex S39610C a sealed goggle or open-frame safety glasses?

It is a sealed safety goggle. The body conforms to your face to form a continuous barrier around the eyes, which open-frame safety glasses do not do. That seal is what lets it resist liquid splash and airborne dust. Compare sealed and open styles in our safety glasses buyer's guide.

Does the S39610C protect against chemical splash?

As a sealed, indirect-vent goggle it is designed to keep liquid splash from reaching the eyes, which is the core advantage over open glasses. For a specific chemical or droplet hazard, match the goggle's splash marking to your task; our Z87.1 standard explainer shows how the splash and dust ratings work.

What does the Uvextreme anti-fog coating do?

Uvextreme is a factory-applied anti-fog treatment on the inside of the clear lens that delays condensation when warm, humid air hits the cooler lens surface. Combined with the goggle's indirect venting, it keeps your view clear longer. For more on managing fog, see our guide on how to prevent safety glasses fogging.

Is this goggle vented, and what does indirect vent mean?

Yes, it uses indirect venting. The vents are baffled so air can circulate to fight fogging, but liquid and dust cannot travel a straight line to your eye. That makes indirect-vent goggles suitable for splash and fine-particle work, unlike non-vented or direct-vent designs.

Can I wear the S39610C over my prescription glasses?

The low-profile wraparound design fits over many smaller prescription frames. It is not a wide-frame OTG goggle, so larger glasses may not fit. If you wear bigger frames, choose a dedicated over-the-glasses model like the Sellstrom S71100 OTG goggle.

Is the lens clear or tinted?

The S39610C has a clear polycarbonate lens. Clear is the right tint for indoor and general-purpose work where you want maximum light transmission. For bright outdoor glare you would want a gray or smoke lens; see our lens color chart to match tint to lighting.

Is the Uvex S39610C ANSI Z87.1 rated?

Yes, the Stealth goggle is built to the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 standard for impact-rated primary eye protection. Always check the marking printed on the frame and lens against the protection your job requires. Our Z87.1 standard guide explains what each marking means.

Will this goggle fit under a hard hat or with a respirator?

The low-profile wraparound shape is designed to layer under most hard hats and alongside half-mask respirators. Test your specific facepiece, since a tight respirator can lift the goggle and break its face seal. Browse more compatible safety goggles for your PPE stack.

How is this different from the Uvex S3960D Stealth?

Both are clear Stealth goggles. The S39610C uses the single-action Uvextreme anti-fog coating, while the S3960D Stealth with Dura-streme adds anti-scratch outside plus anti-fog inside. Pick Dura-streme for high-abrasion duty and Uvextreme for general anti-fog needs.

How do I keep the anti-fog coating working?

Rinse and air-dry or blot with a clean microfiber cloth; avoid paper towels and harsh solvents that strip the anti-fog layer. Proper care preserves both the coating and the lens clarity. Follow the steps in our guide on how to clean safety glasses.

Is the clear lens good for outdoor use?

Not for bright sun. The clear lens has no glare reduction and is meant for indoor and general-purpose work. For outdoor glare, choose a gray or smoke tint from our tinted safety glasses range instead.

Where can I compare this against other goggles before buying?

Start with our safety goggles collection and the anti-fog safety glasses collection to weigh sealed versus open styles, coatings, and tints. For a guided pick, our best safety glasses roundup and buyer's guide walk through the trade-offs for industrial use.

Much better than the googles in the bookstore
I had to buy goggles for a chemistry class and purchased the required goggles from the bookstore. The straps kept coming loose, the lenses fogged up, and they were really uncomfortable as a glasses wearer. I purchased these to replace the crap they sold at the bookstore and my chemistry professor okayed them. These are so much more comfortable! The padding around the googles provide a comfortable fit on the face, even with my glasses. They made a three hour lab go from a torture session to a fun, learning experience. I even sent the link to the professor with the complaint about the goggles in the bookstore and said he'll switch to these instead!Since I'm not taking a lab this semester, these googles live in my kitchen to prevent burning eyes when I chop onions.

Excellent Product, not so much for glasses
I bought these goggles for my Biology/ Chemistry lab. They have held up very well and are resistant to fog. They do feel a little stiff after wearing them for a while, but you cannot beat the price. I did test if glasses would fit into the goggles and some can but most are a very tight fit. So, keep that in mind...Pros- Cheap- Durable- Anti-fog- Lens are ReplaceableCons- Not made for glasses- A little stiff, can feel uncomfortable after a while

Great goggles & price, even though they still fog
I bought these for use in my chemistry labs and they are infinitely better and more comfortable than the stockroom cheapo goggles I was using before. My skin indents really easily and my old ones gave me goggle face every time, no matter how long I wore them, but I only get it with these if I've worn them for longer than an hour or so. They're also much gentler on the bridge of the nose, which is a common problem area with cheaper pairs. The only things I don't like about these are that they definitely DO still fog up on me, and the neoprene strap gets caught in long hair easily. Uvex actually makes a fabric strap that looks much less likely to rip out my hair, so I'll probably upgrade to that soon (or just use a piece of plain elastic as a replacement). But overall, they're only slightly more expensive than the standard issue pairs sold at most schools, and you're getting a way better product. Plus you'll look like a real g in your lower division chem classes.

These are very nice fitting comfortable googles for those who have small to moderate head size. They give a good seal that will keep fine dust and smoke out of your eyes. They are also very good for shooting. They work well with the Breath Buddy respirator and will likely work with the Honeywell and 3M models. But don't depend on them to keep volatile gases from getting into your eyes. They will fit over small glasses -- like reading glasses. Be careful handling them because the plastic lens is curved and unprotected so never lay them face down. Its best to wrap them in a soft cloth and store them in a zip lock bag.

Worked much better than expected
Having gone through many sets of supposedly dust proof goggles I had my doubts but a recommendation from a YT creator I follow convinced me to give these a try. The first test was grinding old concrete for resurfacing. Huge clouds of dust but not a speck in my eyes. I was impressed! They are more comfortable than most of the goggles of this type and the soft seal membrane really keeps the dust out. They did not fog but I did have some moisture build up inside. It was 90 degrees so that's not a surprise. I have a couple more tests lined up for these but based on their first outing I would buy them again.

These are good goggles but please understand that they are not perfect.
The goggles came in right on time for my lab class, but there was some damage on the box(which does not bother me since what mattered was the content). The lens themselves do work nice, and should provide protection against impact, but these are open ventilation so these would not be good for those environments. There is some damage on the body which is near the frame, but the damage came with the new product, and thankfully does not interfere with their use. The lab glasses do allow a wide range of vision, and it is easy to forget that one is wearing them. They just barely fit over a glasses size of 1.9 by 1.5 inches. But the back of these goggles might get tangled in long hair. They work very well for their purpose in my lab which is to protect against any chemical splashes that might happen unexpectedly. They do scratch easily, but the scratches can be ignored. One simply needs soap, water, and a soft cloth to wash them to protect the coating that provides protection for these glasses. Replacement lens are actually quite expensive, but if you look around you can find them around seven dollars at least not including shipping. Otherwise the price for the replacement lens ranges around sixteen dollars all the way to around twenty two dollars. I cannot rate the ability of the fog resistance since I have not been under conditions where I would test it. Another thing to consider is if you have a very small petite face these goggles might not fully cup around your face. To adjust that, change the size of the back, which will help. Just know for those with small faces there will still be a small gap right at the nose ridge which will allow fumes to get to your eyes. For myself these goggles work well for what I am using them in, which is a chemistry lab, and even with the faults work just fine. The reason for this rating being three stars is due to the new goggles coming with the body damage described earlier, which should not be there, but since the damage does not interfere with their purpose I am content.

Sleek, comfortable, and easy to see through
I got these for my chemistry lab in college. We're required to wear them the entire 3 hours of lab even when we're not working with chemicals, so I wanted to spend some extra money on comfort. It definitely paid off, and most of the time when I leave lab I don't even have the bad red marks on my face! Most other students got $5 safety goggles from the campus bookstore which are about as cheap as you can imagine, and it makes me very glad I have these. They're clear and easy to see through, and they look very nice. Chemistry is so much more bearable when you're not uncomfortable the whole time.

Great for Healthcare Workers on the COVID Frontlines
Since the COVID pandemic, eye protection has become very important in the healthcare industry. As an ED physician, I see many COVID positive patients and need to wear eye protection throughout my shifts. This is my third pair of goggles and by far my favorite. This pair fits nicely over my glasses as pictured. The soft seal is very comfortable, I usually wear them for 10 hours at a time. I've had very few issues with fogging. Many of my coworkers have asked me about them and ordered their own.

The Essentials of Chemistry.
Uvex is a great brand of stealth goggle. Just a general piece of handy information, If you just naturally sweat profusely, or you raise your heart rate to much, they will start to fog, honestly Its not a serious problem with sweat and fog in a 69 degree chemistry lab. Fog has never been a problem for me, because I don't work out and hit the iron in my lab goggles, But occasionally when I run up the stairs and am in a hurry to get to lab, I will have to pull them off my face a few times to deal with fog, but that clears up in a few minutes of going about normal lab work. But a tip if you do naturally sweat a lot it is better to just look a little goofy and go with splash goggles, Splash goggles have indirect venting so it will help with the fog problem. I am in my last semester of my biochem undergrad, I bought these because they are a different color of Uvex then the one that my school ACS club sells. I have a tendency of laying my goggles down when I leave the room, and sometimes forgetting them, and when you are in a lab full of grad students and undergrads, someone is going to see them sitting there all alone and feels the need to adopt them. Last year I lost two different pairs in the research lab I work in. So I bought these for the 2015-2016 school year, and now I will know if someone tries to adopt my goggles. Same brand but different color from the rest of the students and all mine. :D

I like these but they fog something FIERCE
I've been using these goggles for college chemistry lab since January 2020. They are comfortable and have great visibility and are a very reasonable price, especially considering that the really crappy goggles are about $5 and these are 50x better and only 3x (ish) the cost. That said, I guess I run warm because these puppies fog up after less than 10 minutes of wear. I use a KimWipe to get the moisture out quickly without leaving streaks, but I have to step out of lab every 15-20 minutes to clear them which is distracting and a safety hazard. I washed them with some dawn and let the soapy water air dry (popping bubbles that sat on the surface) without rinsing. It has helped a little, but not much. I'm going to purchase a pair of the Uvex Flex Seal S3400X as I think they have more vents along the bottom lens line. Hopefully they will be better about fog. If it weren't for the fog, I would rate these 5 stars because they're comfortable and don't leave crazy lines on my face for too long after removing.
