What the ATO Ozone Detector detects (and what it doesn’t)
It detects ozone (O3) only — not O2, combustibles, CO or H2S. For the four atmospheric gases use a Forensics 4 Gas Meter; for other single toxics see the Chlorine or SO2 analyzers. Ozone sensors drift over time, so verify against a known source periodically. It is a toxic-gas monitor, not explosion-rated.
Cross-shopping? This unit sits in our Portable Gas Detectors hub alongside Forensics VOC Detector, Amprobe CO2-100, Forensics Ammonia Detector, Forensics Chlorine Analyzer. For other gas-detection form factors see Personal & Wearable Gas Detectors, Fixed Gas Detection Systems, Area & Transportable Gas Monitors, or browse the full Gas Detectors range.
Where the ATO ozone detector fits
The ATO O3 detector covers ozone, a gap separate from the four-gas set and the other specialty toxics. For chlorine or SO2, see the Forensics Chlorine and SO2 analyzers; for the four atmospheric gases a 4 Gas Meter.
- Choose the ATO Ozone Detector for ozone-generator rooms, water treatment and labs.
- For chlorine or SO2, use the Chlorine and SO2 analyzers.
- For O2/LEL/CO/H2S, use a 4 Gas Meter.
Frequently asked questions
What does the ATO ozone gas detector measure?
Ozone (O3) from 0-50 ppm. It does not measure O2, LEL, CO or H2S — use a 4 gas meter for those.
Where is an ozone detector used?
Ozone-generator and disinfection rooms, water and wastewater ozone treatment, laboratories, clean rooms and food-processing ozone systems.
Why monitor ozone?
Ozone is a strong oxidant that is toxic at low concentrations and is generated intentionally in many disinfection processes, so leaks and over-generation must be caught.
What alarms does it have?
Audible, visual and vibration alarms trigger when O3 exceeds the set point, shown on a digital LCD.
Do ozone sensors drift?
Yes — ozone sensors are sensitive and can drift; verify against a known source periodically and replace per the manufacturer's guidance.
How is it powered?
It uses a battery/rechargeable supply sized for field use; keep it charged for survey work.
Can it detect other gases?
No — ozone only. For chlorine use the Chlorine Analyzer; for SO2 the SO2 Analyzer.
Is it explosion-rated?
No — it is a toxic-gas monitor. For flammable atmospheres use a rated Portable Gas Detectors or Fixed Gas Detection Systems instrument.
What are the ozone exposure limits?
Set alarms to the applicable OSHA PEL and ACGIH TLV for ozone; confirm current values for your program.
Is it in stock and how does it ship?
Use the Amazon buy button for current availability and delivery timing through our fulfillment partner.
Is ATO a reputable brand?
ATO is an industrial instrument supplier; this O3 detector is its dedicated ozone monitor for generator and treatment applications.
Can I use it for confined-space entry?
Ozone is one hazard; entry also needs O2, combustible and toxic testing. Use a Portable Gas Detectors 4-gas instrument for pre-entry plus this for the ozone component.
