What the Forensics Hydrogen Analyzer detects (and what it doesn’t)
It detects hydrogen (H2) only at ppm levels — not O2, CO, H2S or broad combustibles. For permanent battery-room coverage use the fixed Forensics Hydrogen wall-mount detector; for the four atmospheric gases a Forensics 4 Gas Meter. Note this is a low-ppm toxic-range tool — high-concentration explosive (%LEL) hydrogen monitoring uses a combustible instrument. Bump-test with H2 calibration gas; the pump and probe let you survey safely.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Forensics hydrogen analyzer measure?
Hydrogen (H2) from 0-1000 ppm at 1 ppm resolution, with a built-in pump and probe for surveys.
Portable or fixed hydrogen detection?
This is the portable survey tool. For continuous battery-room coverage use the fixed Forensics Hydrogen wall-mount detector.
Where is portable H2 detection used?
Battery and UPS room surveys, hydrogen leak checks, fuel-cell and electrolyzer areas, and lab/process hydrogen.
Does it measure explosive (%LEL) hydrogen?
This is a low-ppm analyzer for leak detection and exposure; high-concentration explosive-range monitoring uses a combustible (%LEL) instrument.
Is it NIST calibrated?
Yes — USA NIST-traceable calibration. Bump-test with H2 calibration gas and recalibrate on schedule.
Does it have a pump?
Yes — a built-in pump and 4 ft probe let you survey battery banks and sample remotely.
How is it powered?
USB-rechargeable, sized for shift-long use including pump operation.
Why monitor hydrogen in battery rooms?
Charging lead-acid batteries off-gas hydrogen, which is explosive; a portable analyzer surveys for leaks and confirms ventilation alongside fixed detection.
Can it detect other gases?
No — H2 only. For the four atmospheric gases use a 4 gas meter; for HCN the HCN Detector.
Is it in stock and how does it ship?
Use the Amazon buy button for current availability and delivery timing through our fulfillment partner.
Does the sensor need replacing?
Yes — H2 sensors are consumables; replace per the manufacturer's schedule and verify against a known source.
Can I use it for confined-space entry?
H2 is one hazard; entry also needs O2, combustible and toxic testing with a portable 4-gas instrument.
