Three Frames. Six Lenses. One Platform.

The Uvex Hypershock wraps a five-point soft-grip nose bridge and rubber brow-bar cushion into three frame colors — Matte Black, Smoke Brown, and Clear Ice — then pairs each with lens technologies ranging from permanent HydroShield anti-fog to self-darkening photochromic. The result is a single ANSI Z87.1+ platform that covers indoor assembly lines, outdoor construction sites, and high-humidity food processing environments.

Frame Family Breakdown

Matte Black Frame — S294x / S295x (9 options)

The most-stocked Hypershock configuration. Clear HydroShield (S2940HS), gray HydroShield (S2941HS), and amber HydroShield (S2942HS) cover anti-fog needs in cool and humid environments. Clear Uvextreme Plus (S2940XP) adds a mid-tier anti-fog option. Hardcoat clear (S2943) suits dry grinding rooms; red mirror (S2944) and blue mirror (S2945) reduce glare outdoors; espresso polarized (S2949) eliminates horizontal glare near reflective surfaces; photochromic (S2950X) self-adjusts across indoor/outdoor transitions.

Smoke Brown Frame — S296x / S297x (9 options)

The smoke-brown tinted frame adds a subtle base tint that reduces brightness without the full shade of a mirror lens. Clear HydroShield (S2960HS) and Uvextreme Plus (S2960XP) deliver anti-fog in the frame; espresso HydroShield (S2961HS) and Uvextreme Plus (S2961XP) add a darker indoor option. SCT-Reflect 50 (S2963) mirrors 50% of visible light outdoors; gold mirror (S2964) and blue mirror (S2975) add style; espresso hardcoat (S2969) keeps it simple; gray HydroShield (S2970HS) completes the anti-fog roster.

Clear Ice Frame — S2951HS / S2965X (2 options)

A translucent frame used where supervisors need to verify lens wear at a glance. Clear HydroShield (S2951HS) suits food processing and healthcare environments; photochromic (S2965X) adapts for mixed indoor/outdoor patrol roles.

ANSI Z87.1+ Safety Compliance

Every Uvex Hypershock lens is marked Z87+ — confirming it passed the ANSI/ISEA high-impact (high-velocity ball-bearing) test in addition to the standard drop-ball test. This dual certification satisfies OSHA 29 CFR 1910.133 (general industry) and 1926.102 (construction) eye protection mandates. The polycarbonate substrate blocks 99.9% of UV-A and UV-B radiation without an additional UV coating. Side shields are not required; the wraparound geometry provides lateral protection to meet the standard.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes HydroShield different from a standard anti-fog coating?

HydroShield is a permanently bonded anti-fog treatment embedded into both lens surfaces — not a surface coating that can wear off. Because it's integrated into the lens matrix, it survives repeated cleaning, full-shift humidity exposure, and cold storage environments where spray-on treatments fail after a few uses. The trade-off is a slightly higher price per unit versus hardcoat-only versions of the same frame.

What does the "+" in Z87.1+ mean?

The ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 standard has two tiers: basic impact and high impact. The high-impact rating (marked Z87+) requires the lens to survive a 1/4-inch steel ball fired at 150 fps — significantly harder than the basic drop-ball test. The "+" mark is stamped on both the lens and the frame temple, and is required by many industrial safety programs and by OSHA in environments with high-velocity particle hazards.

Which Hypershock is best for humid food-processing environments?

Any HydroShield variant — S2940HS (clear), S2941HS (gray), or S2942HS (amber) for Matte Black; S2960HS (clear) or S2970HS (gray) for Smoke Brown; S2951HS (clear) for Clear Ice. The amber HydroShield (S2942HS) also improves contrast under fluorescent lighting common in processing plants. All are rated for repeated sanitizer-spray cleaning without compromising the anti-fog treatment.

Are Hypershock glasses compatible with prescription lenses?

No — Hypershock is a standard-fit safety glass, not an over-the-glass (OTG) frame. Prescription wearers should look at the Uvex Astro OTG 3001, which is specifically designed to bridge over most prescription frames. Alternatively, Hypershock is compatible with most plano-lens inserts if your safety program uses prescription inserts.

What is the difference between polarized (S2949) and mirror lenses?

Polarized lenses filter horizontal glare from flat surfaces — water, wet pavement, and vehicle hoods — that mirror lenses cannot eliminate. Mirror coatings reduce total visible light transmission but do not block polarized glare. For dock workers, lot attendants, and outdoor supervisors working near reflective surfaces, polarized (S2949) outperforms any mirror option. For general bright-sky outdoor work without reflective surfaces, blue mirror (S2945, S2975) or red mirror (S2944) typically suffices.

How does the photochromic lens (S2950X, S2965X) behave indoors?

Photochromic lenses lighten to approximately 90% light transmission indoors — functionally identical to a clear lens. In direct sunlight they darken to approximately 30%, equivalent to a medium shade. The transition takes 20–40 seconds each direction. They are a good single-pair solution for workers who move frequently between indoor staging areas and outdoor yards, eliminating the need to carry two pairs.

Can I buy Hypershock glasses in bulk for a crew?

Yes. WC Safety stocks the full Hypershock lineup and accommodates quantity orders. Add your preferred style to cart and set your quantity — most styles ship within 1–2 business days. For large crew orders or mixed-style packs, contact us for a quote and we can confirm stock availability across all 21 SKUs.

Where are Uvex Hypershock glasses manufactured?

Uvex safety eyewear is engineered and manufactured in Fürth, Germany. The Hypershock platform is certified to both ANSI/ISEA Z87.1+ (North America) and EN166 (Europe), making it one of the few dual-certified platforms available in the US market — a common requirement for multinational safety programs with facilities on both continents.

Nice!
I was not sure about the shade of the lense because they are lighter than I am accustomed to, however, they work well for me. I am working for a tree service these days and looking up most of the day. I really like that they do not collect debris like some other models of Uvex safety glasses. I do not have to clean these as often as I have needed to with other models from Uvex. The only thing I do not like is the way the temples lay on my ears made them unconfortable and even slightly painful wearing them all day. They do provide better protection than other models I have used from Uvex, especially when I need to move them off of my face a little to get some air circulation to keep them from fogging up.

Favorite safety glasses to date!
I don't have a single bad thing to say about these glasses. This is my 2nd pair, only because I lost the first pair, but would absolutely buy another if needed. I've used these for everything from arborist work, to woodworking and yard work, it is nice to have safety glasses that not only protect you well, but also look great doing so.

Good for pickleball
I picked up the Uvex by Honeywell Hypershock safety glasses to use while playing pickleball, and they’ve been a great choice. They’re very comfortable, lightweight, and stay in place even during fast-paced games and quick movements at the net.The lenses are clear with no distortion, making it easy to track the ball, and they offer solid protection from stray shots. I also appreciate the durable feel and quality you expect from Honeywell, without the glasses feeling bulky or heavy. If you’re looking for reliable eye protection for pickleball that’s comfortable enough to wear for an entire session, these are an excellent option.

The price tells all.
They do the job, protective and are nice to look through but, the material on the lens gets rubbed off easily. Pay double the price and get better quality. They can be good for shooting outdoors but that’s about it.

Decent fit and good shade.
I love these glasses. I keep them in my truck for driving. If/when they get scratched they get used for yard work. I wear these all the time.
