nocry safety face shield mask with anti-fog anti-scratch β€” what the listing actually specifies

What to check before you buy

An air-purifying respirator filters air, it does not supply any. Under 29 CFR 1910.134 no air-purifying respirator may be worn in an atmosphere that is IDLH or oxygen-deficient (below 19.5% oxygen). Those conditions require a supplied-air respirator or an SCBA, and no filter or cartridge rating changes that.

A face shield is secondary protection
ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 treats face shields as secondary protectors. They are worn over primary eye protection - safety glasses or goggles - not instead of it.
Marking tells you the rating
Look for the Z87 marking, and Z87+ for high impact. Additional letters cover splash and droplet (D3), dust (D4) and fine dust (D5).
Window material and coating
Polycarbonate handles impact; acetate resists chemical splash better. Anti-fog coatings matter more than most buyers expect in humid or hot work.
Headgear and crown adapters
Shields mount to a ratchet headgear or to a hard hat via slot adapters. Adapter compatibility is not universal across hard hat brands.

NoCry Safety Face Shield Mask with Anti-Fog Anti-Scratch

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a face shield replace safety glasses?
No. Under ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 a face shield is secondary protection and must be worn over primary eye protection. On its own it leaves the eyes exposed to particles coming from beneath or the sides.
What does the Z87+ marking mean?
Z87 indicates the product meets the standard for basic impact; the plus sign indicates it meets the high-impact requirements. The marking appears on the shield and the frame or headgear.
Which window for chemical splash?
Look for the D3 splash marking. Acetate windows generally resist chemical attack better than polycarbonate, while polycarbonate is the stronger choice against impact.
Can I mount a shield on my hard hat?
Usually yes, using slot adapters - but adapters are specific to the hard hat suspension and brand. Check compatibility rather than assuming a universal fit.
How do I stop a face shield fogging?
Choose an anti-fog coated window, allow airflow behind the shield, and avoid sealing the gap at the chin. Coatings wear, so fogging that returns is often a sign the shield needs replacing.
Where do the specifications on this page come from?
They are taken from the manufacturer's published listing. WC Safety does not laboratory-test products, and nothing is claimed here that the manufacturer does not state.
Does WC Safety sell this product?
No. WC Safety is an independent review site and an Amazon Associate. Purchases happen on Amazon, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.
What protection factor can I plan on?
Ten. OSHA 1910.134 Table 1 assigns an APF of 10 to every filtering facepiece respirator regardless of whether it is rated 95, 99 or 100, so the maximum use concentration is ten times the exposure limit. If you need better than that, the answer is a different class of respirator, not a better disposable.
Does it protect against gases, vapours or solvents?
No. A particulate filter does nothing about gases or vapours. Those need a chemical cartridge on a half-mask or full-face facepiece, and a nuisance-level organic-vapour layer on a disposable is a comfort feature, not a rated filter.
What does an exhalation valve change, and what does it not?
A valve lowers breathing resistance and heat on exhale, which matters over a full shift. It does NOT raise the protection the wearer receives, and it provides no source control - a valved respirator vents the wearer's unfiltered breath, so where the point is to protect other people or a sterile field the unvalved version is the correct choice. Whether a given model has one is on its own listing.
Do I need a fit test before using it?
For occupational use, yes. 29 CFR 1910.134(f) requires a fit test before first use and at least annually after that, on the specific make, model and size that will be worn - a different size is a different respirator as far as the seal is concerned. Separately, Appendix B-1 requires a user seal check on every donning.
Does facial hair stop it working?
Yes. Hair crossing the sealing surface prevents a seal, and 1910.134 requires the seal area to be clean-shaven on any tight-fitting respirator. No strap tension compensates for it.
