Drager HE Filter P100 PAPR Filter PAPR Replacement Filter X-plore 8000

Short answer: the drager x-plore 8000 particle filter he - papr high is covered below on the specifications its own listing publishes, the standards it is certified to, and who it suits.

WC Safety Editorial Pick: The Drager X-plore 8000 HE filter is the standard replacement particle filter for the X-plore 8500 PAPR system β€” the correct choice when your hazard is particulates: dust, silica, asbestos, welding fume, or biological aerosols without added chemical vapor hazards.

The Drager X-plore 8000 Particle Filter HE (High Efficiency) is the primary replacement particle filter for the Drager X-plore 8500 PAPR system. 'HE' in Drager's designation corresponds to the P100 efficiency level defined by NIOSH β€” 99.97% minimum filtration efficiency against 0.3-micron particles, making it suitable for the most demanding particulate hazards including asbestos, crystalline silica, metal fumes, lead dust, and biological aerosols. Maintaining an adequate supply of X-plore 8000 HE filters is a core requirement of any X-plore 8500 PAPR program.

Filter replacement timing on the X-plore 8500 is indicated by the system's low-flow alarm β€” when the filter loads sufficiently to reduce airflow below the NIOSH minimum, the alarm triggers and the filter must be replaced before the worker re-enters the hazard area. Preemptive replacement based on your facility's established filter change schedule (by shift, by task, or by measured exposure) is the preferred approach in programs with consistent exposure levels, as it eliminates reliance on alarm-based replacement which can create a brief lapse in protection during end-of-life loading.

For mixed hazard environments where organic vapors are present alongside particulates, the X-plore 8000 HE filter alone is insufficient β€” the OV/HE combination filter provides the required dual protection. Procure the HE particle filter for strictly particulate-only environments (grinding, sanding, asbestos abatement, pharmaceutical powder handling) and use the appropriate combination filter where vapor hazards are present. Order filter quantities based on your planned replacement schedule and number of active PAPR units to avoid stockouts.

Key Features

An air-purifying respirator filters air, it does not supply any. Under 29 CFR 1910.134 no air-purifying respirator may be worn in an atmosphere that is IDLH or oxygen-deficient (below 19.5% oxygen). Those conditions require a supplied-air respirator or an SCBA, and no filter or cartridge rating changes that.

  • High Efficiency (HE / P100 equivalent): 99.97%+ filtration at 0.3 microns
  • NIOSH-approved β€” for use with X-plore 8500 PAPR system
  • Protects against asbestos, silica, metal fumes, lead dust, biological aerosols
  • Bayonet connection β€” tool-free replacement on the X-plore 8500 blower
  • Low-flow alarm compatibility β€” X-plore 8500 alerts when filter is loaded
  • For particulate-only environments β€” choose OV/HE combo for vapor hazards

Effective but kind of pricey
It works good and the air stays clean and very filtered. It's kind of expensive but I guess that's what you pay for all of this OSHA compliance and stuff. It definitely works and is high quality.
