Decibullz Professional Moldable Corded Earplugs Overview

The Decibullz Professional Moldable Corded Earplugs are corded custom-moldable ear plugs from Decibullz, rated NRR 31 dB. The permanent cord keeps the pair together so a plug isn’t lost, and lets you hang them around your neck between tasks. Start with our hearing-protection guide and what NRR means, then confirm the noise level you’re protecting against.

The Decibullz Professional Moldable belong to the corded ear plugs range. They are reusable and washable across many shifts; for the trade-offs see foam vs reusable ear plugs.

What NRR 31 dB Means

NRR is a laboratory rating; NIOSH suggests derating it for real-world use. Here is how NRR 31 dB lines up with common environments (always confirm with a noise survey):

Environment Approx. noise Fit for NRR?
Power tools / workshop (~95 dBA) ~83 dBA after derating Good fit
Heavy equipment / construction (~100 dBA) ~88 dBA after derating Good fit
Manufacturing / plant floor (~90 dBA) ~78 dBA after derating Good fit
Firearms / impact (140 dB peak) Impulse noise Add earmuffs (dual)

Who Should Buy the Decibullz Professional Moldable?

Buy them if you want custom-moldable hearing protection with a retention cord at NRR 31 dB. Consider another plug if you need a different level or style: compare H20, 6886 Glide Soothers, 6985 Glide Soothers. For the highest ratings see highest-NRR ear plugs.

Hearing protection only works when worn correctly for the full exposure. The NRR is a laboratory rating; real-world attenuation is typically lower, so OSHA and NIOSH recommend derating it when estimating protection. For very high noise β€” or whenever earplugs alone can’t bring exposure under about 85 dBA β€” wear them with earmuffs (dual protection). The Decibullz Professional Moldable reduces noise; it does not eliminate it or protect against non-noise hazards.

Helpful Hearing-Protection Guides

Decibullz Professional Moldable Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NRR of the Decibullz Professional Moldable?

The Decibullz Professional Moldable are rated NRR 31 dB (EPA-labeled per ANSI S3.19). Real-world protection is usually lower, so NIOSH recommends derating the NRR when estimating exposure.

Are the Decibullz Professional Moldable corded?

Yes. The permanent cord links the pair so you don't lose a plug, and lets you wear them around your neck between tasks β€” the cord does not change the NRR.

Are the Decibullz Professional Moldable reusable or single-use?

They are reusable and washable across many shifts.

How do I insert the Decibullz Professional Moldable?

To fit them, mold them to your ear once (heat-and-shape), then insert the custom fit. A proper seal is what delivers the rated protection.

Can I wash the Decibullz Professional Moldable?

Yes β€” rinse the flanges with mild soap and water, dry, and reuse.

Are the Decibullz Professional Moldable metal-detectable?

No. For food or pharma lines where a lost plug must be detectable, see our metal-detectable ear plugs.

What size are the Decibullz Professional Moldable?

They are molds to any ear.

What noise levels suit NRR 31?

NRR 31 dB suits common industrial noise once derated; for very high or impulse noise, add earmuffs for dual protection. See what NRR means.

Do corded ear plugs reduce the NRR vs uncorded?

No. The cord is only for retention; the plug body and seal determine attenuation.

Are the Decibullz Professional Moldable NIOSH/EPA labeled?

Yes β€” NRR 31 dB is EPA-labeled under ANSI S3.19. WC Safety sells authentic Decibullz hearing protection through legitimate channels.

Can I buy the Decibullz Professional Moldable in bulk or by the case?

Yes. Use the Request a Quote option for case and dispenser pricing on volume orders.

Should I choose ear plugs or ear muffs?

Plugs suit tight spaces, heat and all-day wear; muffs are faster on/off. Many high-noise jobs use both β€” see ear plugs vs ear muffs.

Finally! Plugs that fit and actually work
the Decibullz Professional Moldable Earplugs, and they have exceeded my expectations in every way! From the moment I received them, I was impressed with how easy they were to mold to my ears. The instructions provided were incredibly clear and straightforward, making the molding process a breeze. The passive noise reduction is truly impressiveβ€”these earplugs offer ACCURATE PASSIVE REDUCTION without compromising on the FULL CLARITY OF SOUND. Whether I'm at a noisy concert or working in a loud environment, the Decibullz earplugs deliver exceptional sound isolation while allowing me to hear essential sounds with great clarity.I also appreciate how they accommodate both large and very small ear canals, ensuring a CUSTOM-FIT for anyone who needs it. The comfort and snug fit make them ideal for prolonged use, whether it's during sleep, studying, or working out.Two minor drawbacks, one is that they do cause a slight irritation initially, but I suspect I'll get used to it quickly. It's only mildly annoying and doesn't detract from the overall performance. Additionally, the L and R markings on the plugs melted away during the hot water molding process. To avoid any confusion, I recommend labeling your water mugs before you drop the earplugs in.Overall, the Decibullz Professional Moldable Earplugs are a top-notch choice for anyone in need of effective, custom-fit ear protection. Highly recommended!

Taking these to every concert
I wore these to the stray kids concert at globe life field for both days. The first day I was in the pit and could feel the bass in my chest so I put them on immediately and they definitely helped protect my ears. I didn't notice any problems with hearing the music or the members when they spoke to us. I heard that a lot of people were complaining about the sound quality at the venue and that they couldn't hear what any of the members were saying but I didn't have any problems - they were crystal clear for me. On day 2 I was farther away so I left the plug out for the first couple songs. I was then able to understand why people had been complaining the sound quality was much worse. I figured it was because I was farther away from the stage and closer to where the sound was bouncing but then I put the ear plugs in and the sound quality improved drastically. Normally I can't tell much difference between good or bad sound quality but the difference here was stark. Will absolutely be bringing these to every concert from now on just in case. The custom mold also helped keep them in my ears which is always a problem for me with other ear plugs. I did get some fatigue after wearing them for 3 hours but I was able to take them out occasionally to give my ears a break and they were comfortable for at least the first 2 hours

Good For Off The Shelf, But...
Overall, these are the best, by far, off-the-shelf passive earplugs that I've tried (Loop Experience Plus/Pro and Earos One the others). The Loop just sounded like a wool blanket over everything. The Earos One damped a lot on top and also limited some harmonic bloom, but I also perceived some distortion. I experience a bit of distortion with certain high frequencies at louder volumes. With these greatly lowering the volume, it left me wondering if either they were leaking or the filter wasn't good. Moreover, the Earos One only have two sized tips, and the larger ones were too big for my ears. These Decibullz are smooth sounding and let some audible harmonic development to occur. But the top end is still quite rolled off. All of the brands advertise an even attenuation across the frequency spectrum including these. That's just not happening, so if you're sensitive to hearing harmonic overtones and air, they'll be missing when using these (and I'm guessing ANY passive models, including custom). If you're just looking for a casual use earplugs to use at loud concerts, these would be fine. If you're a musician and/or really particular, they may not be.I'm going to look into electronic ones, as they may preserve air and harmonic structure better. One other thing, though relatively minor, is a mediocre design flaw, at least it doesn't work for me. The lanyard, used for carrying portabiilty, requires that the earplugs sound filters to be removed in order to insert the lanyard attachments. You'd think they would come up with a design that allows you to put the earplugs onto the lanyard so you could take the earplugs on and off quickly. The lanyard attaches to the earplugs with each end of the lanyard plugging into and filling up the space where the filters go. So it's either the filter or the sound filter, but not both. That kind of kills the ability to use them quickly when needed. The small filters, meanwhile, need to then go in a pocket or purse. So if you want to actually use your earplugs, you have to take off the lanyard, plug in the filters, and stow away the lanyard. That design sort of defeats the purpose of a lanyard. There is a carrying case. Might as well just stow the earplugs in the case until you need them. I see no real advantage to using the lanyard. (Of course, I'll feel like an idiot if I discover that I'm using the lanyard wrong, but I just don't see it any other way. At the end of each lanyard is the same size plastic piece as the filter. I don't see how both can fit in simultaneously.)

Good idea and design - but you’re still putting a hard plastic mold in your ear - and it hurts.
They DO cancel a lot of noice β€”- BUT β€”- bottom line, they’re pieces of hard plastic you shove down your ear. Sure, it’s rubbery and soft when you melt it to mold it - but it sets up into a pretty hard piece of plastic. The fact it’s custom fit doesn’t negate the brutal hardness. Also - the center of the earpiece never melts or conforms - it’s just a solid hard plastic pole (covered with a Christmas tree shaped plug) lodged in your ear.Last, when I finally did get a pair fully molded and fitted correctly - the core or β€œfilter” is another piece of hard nonconforming plastic in your ear - and in my case at least protruded just enough to interfere with putting the helmet on and taking it off. In other words, as I remove the helmet the filters in the plugs get caught and these very hard plugs get ripped out of my ears. No fun.

Really awesome hearing protection
Tried these out for the first time on a tour in January. They held up great and absolutely did their job!If you take your time and follow the instructions on the video with the molding process everything will be just fine. Don’t settle for the first mold/seal. My left ear molded beautiful but had to remold my right ear. But just put it right back in the hot water and it molded beautifully the second time.*The key is to take your time*I can’t stress that enough. As for comfort they are okay. They fit way back in your ear canal and the rubber seems to be a little dry. They do take some getting used to put it’s not a deal breaker. The big thing for me is that they stay in the entire show and don’t break their seal or come out. I’m part of a very high energy show with lots of movement, jumping and singing and they stay in the entire time and don’t lose their seal like all other plugs I’ve tried of this type. They also do a great job of noise reduction with no ringing in my ears after a performance.Definitely a great buy and would purchase again.

Too hard after molded, hurts when wearing in motorcycle helmet
I had high expectations given the price tag and reviews. The end results for motorcycles fall very fall.- it has almost the same rating as Surefire EP10 that I have a few, and cost a lot more. After molded, it's true that it doesn't isolate sound any better than my Surefire.- After molded, it's just a hard plastic block that fit your ears. if used in helmet however, my ears are squeezed on top of these hard plastics and it hurts.

I’m armed security for concerts and this is a life saver
While working concerts as security I need to be able to hear my radio and what people are trying to tell me this dose both my radio is plugged into one ear and the noise canceling ear plug is in the other it works amazing. No batteries and I can hear the music perfectly and what some is saying next to me. Worth every penny I would recommend fitting them twice however I found that heating up the fitted ear piece as hot as you can in boiling water fitting it waiting for it to cool laying down for a good 20-30 minutes till it’s solid again then repeating makes the best fit. It is much more comfortable and dose not fall out easily. Been using them for a couple months now no issues. The foam ear plugs work best for me.

Uncomfortable after a few minutes
The mounded part you would assume to be a mouth guard material but it’s a hard plastic so when you talk or move your mouth and head they leak past. They are a great concept and design if only the changed the molding material. I love the interchangeable filters but would like to see them able to be purchased without having to buy more bases. All in all they are a great ear plug and don’t feel to heavy in the ear but the plastic makes your ears tender after 30 mins m so I can’t say I would recommend them for anything music related

Decent but not perfect
These were just okay. I used them on a European trip. Easy enough to form but I missed a spot that was a little uncomfortable. Sounded decent. I was frustrated because I got the inserts that have a string too but they are not the same quality. I will keep using but they aren’t ideal. A little uncomfortable in the ear for long periods of time. Works well enough though.
