3M P3000 tri-flange reusable earplugs Overview

The 3M P3000 tri-flange reusable earplugs are genuine 3M P3000 corded earplugs - tri-flange reusable earplugs sold as corded reusable earplugs in a 3M P3000 100 pairs box. Unlike single-use foam, these reusable tri-flange earplugs use three flexible flanges that seal the ear canal on insertion, work immediately with no compression wait, and can be cleaned and reinserted many times. The cord joins each pair so they stay together between uses rather than getting lost loose in a pocket.

Safety note: this listing does not state a specific NRR figure, so we do not publish one here β€” check the packaging or 3M's datasheet for the exact rating before relying on it. Any printed NRR is a laboratory ceiling, and real-world attenuation is lower once the NIOSH/OSHA derate is applied, and fit technique matters more for tri-flange plugs than for foam.

Sold as a 100-pair box, the P3000 suits crews standardizing on a reusable in-ear option rather than buying single-use foam by the case. See our corded vs cordless ear plugs guide and foam vs reusable ear plugs guide for how the tri-flange format compares to other in-ear options, or read disposable vs reusable ear plugs if you're still deciding on format. What It Is Built For

Use case Fit Buyer guidance
Stocking a bulk supply station Strong fit 100-pair box suits crews and facilities that want a reusable option available at scale rather than single-pair purchases.
Repeated in-and-out noise exposure Strong fit No compression wait like foam, and the cord keeps the pair together between uses.
Workers who prefer a reusable, wipeable plug Strong fit Clean and reinsert many times rather than discarding after one use like foam.
First-time users unfamiliar with tri-flange insertion Verify fit first Fit technique differs from foam; confirm a consistent seal before relying on it for high noise.
Situational awareness / radio integration Not suitable This is a passive earplug with no electronics; choose electronic hearing protection if you need amplification or radio.

Hearing protectors reduce noise, but the labeled NRR (where published) is a laboratory number β€” real-world protection is lower once NIOSH and OSHA derating is applied. The protector only works if it seals: reinsert and reseat tri-flange plugs before entering noise. In very high noise, combine in-ear protection with earmuffs for dual protection. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 sets the 85 dBA action level; size protection to your measured noise.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Instant insertion with no foam compression wait
  • Reusable, wipeable design instead of single-use foam
  • Corded pairs stay together between uses
  • 100-pair box suits bulk crew or facility stocking
  • No batteries or electronics to fail
Cons
  • No NRR figure published on this listing β€” verify the exact rating on the packaging
  • Fit technique is more insertion-dependent than foam for first-time users
  • No stated size options on this listing
  • Passive only β€” no amplification or radio for situational awareness

How It Compares

Within reusable in-ear hearing protection, the P3000's tri-flange design competes against banded ear plugs and foam plugs. Foam typically reaches a higher attenuation when properly compressed and inserted but is single-use; a banded protector trades some attenuation for even faster on-off. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NRR of the 3M P3000 tri-flange earplugs?

The listing does not state a specific NRR figure, so we do not publish one here. Check the packaging or 3M's official datasheet for the exact rating before relying on it for a specific noise level, and remember any printed NRR is a lab figure that user-reported performance falls below.

Is the P3000 corded or banded?

Corded. Each pair of tri-flange plugs is joined by a cord so they stay together when removed, rather than being mounted on a headband. That is a different form factor from a banded (semi-aural) hearing protector.

Is the P3000 reusable or single-use?

Reusable. Unlike single-use foam earplugs, the tri-flange design is meant to be wiped clean and reinserted many times. Replace a pair when the flanges harden, tear, or no longer seal.

How many pairs come in this listing?

This listing is a 100-pair box, suited to outfitting a crew or stocking a supply station rather than buying single pairs.

How does a tri-flange plug differ from a foam earplug?

A tri-flange plug uses three flexible flanges that seal the canal on insertion, so it works immediately with no compression wait like roll-down foam. It's reusable and faster to insert repeatedly, though fit can be more technique-dependent than foam for first-time users.

What size does the P3000 come in?

The listing does not break out multiple sizes for this SKU. If sizing is a concern, check 3M's product page or contact 3M directly to confirm whether alternate sizes are offered under a different part number.

Can I clean and reuse the same pair?

Yes, that is the point of a reusable tri-flange design. Wipe the flanges with a damp cloth and mild soap between uses, and inspect for hardening, cracking, or tears before reinserting - replace a pair that no longer seals.

Is the P3000 good for intermittent noise exposure?

Yes. The corded reusable design suits workers who insert and remove hearing protection multiple times a shift, since the cord keeps the pair together and there's no foam-compression wait. See our corded vs cordless ear plugs guide for how that tradeoff plays out.

Does OSHA 1910.95 accept reusable tri-flange plugs?

Reusable tri-flange plugs can be part of an OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95 hearing-conservation program if the derated attenuation covers your measured noise exposure. Confirm the actual NRR on the packaging and derate it per NIOSH guidance before assuming compliance.

Should I choose corded or cordless reusable plugs?

A corded design like the P3000 keeps the pair together between uses, useful for workers moving in and out of noise; cordless reusable plugs are lighter but easier to misplace. Compare both in our corded vs cordless ear plugs guide.

How does the P3000 compare to foam earplugs for all-day comfort?

Tri-flange plugs skip the foam compression wait and insert instantly, which some workers find faster for repeated use, though initial fit technique differs from foam. See our foam vs reusable ear plugs guide to decide which format suits your crew.

Simple, reusable and probably the best I have ever used.
I have tried many brands and styles of ear plugs. I have bought very expensive plugs and disposable plugs. I have never had better performance than I have had with these. It could be that these just fit my personal ear cannal better and you may not get the same results. But for me, I ordered the first pair and was so happy with them, I reordered 6 more pair just in case.

Ear Plugs
I've ordered many pairs of these ear-plugs. They are the best ear-plugs I can for the price and deliver superior sound level reduction while still being extremely comfortable to wear.
