Carhartt Force HD 6 inch composite toe EH work boot
A safety toe is impact and compression protection, not electrical isolation. ASTM F2413 treats them as separate ratings: only a boot carrying the EH mark is tested for secondary protection against open electrical circuits, and that protection is voided by wet soles, worn outsoles or embedded metal. Work on or near energised parts is controlled by a zero-energy state and the NFPA 70E arc-flash program first; footwear is the last layer, never the plan.
The Carhartt Force HD composite toe EH boot (model FX6305) is a do-everything work boot: an ASTM F2413 composite safety toe with an electrical-hazard rating, a slip-resistant outsole, and FastDry sweat-wicking lining, listed at. It sits across our composite toe boots collection, electrical hazard boots collection, and slip-resistant shoes collection as Carhartt's do-it-all boot for electricians and general trades.
Note the family split: this FX6305 is the non-insulated Force HD. If you want the same protection with warmth for winter, order the insulated waterproof Force HD (FX6393) instead. This FX6305 is the lighter, year-round pick.

Who this boot is for
Buy the Force HD FX6305 if you are an electrician or general tradesperson who needs a composite toe, an EH rating, and slip resistance in one lightweight, year-round boot. Because it is not waterproof, it is best for dry-to-damp indoor and covered work; for sealed wet-weather protection choose a waterproof work boot or the insulated waterproof Force HD FX6393. Unsure whether you need a cap at all? Our when do you need safety toe boots guide explains the OSHA trigger, and the best electrical hazard work boots guide ranks EH options.
Sizing and fit
The Force HD runs true to size in a medium width. Composite toe boxes can feel slightly taller than steel, so if you are between sizes, try your normal size first. Add support with an aftermarket insole from our work boot insoles range, and pair with wicking work socks to complement the FastDry lining. Condition the leather periodically with a product from our boot care and waterproofing shelf to extend upper life.
How it compares in the Force HD family
| Boot | Toe | Waterproof | Insulated | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Force HD FX6305 (this) | Composite (F2413) + EH | No | No | Year-round dry-work do-it-all |
| Force HD FX6393 | Composite (F2413) | Yes | Yes | Winter, wet jobsites |
| Carhartt CMF6366 | Composite (F2413) | No | No | Everyday composite toe value |
- Choose this FX6305 for a lighter, year-round composite-toe EH boot for dry-to-damp work.
- Choose the FX6393 when you need waterproofing and insulation for winter.
- Choose the CMF6366 for a similar composite toe at a slightly lower price without the EH focus.
