MedPride nitrile vinyl blend gloves explained

MedPride Nitrile/Vinyl Blend Exam Gloves are exactly what the name says: a budget-friendly hybrid that mixes nitrile and vinyl. As nitrile vinyl blend gloves go, they hit a sweet spot for everyday light-duty use — blue, food-grade, powder-free, latex-free, and comfortable enough for extended wear — at a price well below pure nitrile. They are a household staple for kitchen, cleaning, and general messy jobs.

What these gloves are for

Everyday light-duty jobs where you want a cheap, clean barrier — food prep and cooking, household cleaning, salon and hair-dye work, painting, gardening, and general messy tasks. They are ranked in our nitrile exam gloves guide, and for kitchens and chores our nitrile gloves for food service and nitrile gloves for cleaning guides. To understand the blend, see how the two materials compare in nitrile vs vinyl gloves and our nitrile gloves complete guide.

Compatibility

Good for water, food, and light household messes; as a light blend it is not for sharp edges, heavy abrasion, or chemical exposure — for those, use a pure-nitrile or chemical-resistant glove. If you want an even cheaper single-use option for the kitchen, compare pure vinyl gloves and our best vinyl gloves guide.

How the blend compares

Within MedPride, step up to the pure MedPride nitrile for more strength and elasticity, or the MedPride latex if latex is not a concern. For a value blue exam glove, the Kimtech Vista is a premium-brand option and the full-textured Curad is a durable all-purpose pick; the Inspire Cobalt Blue adds a heavier 4.5 mil. Browse the full nitrile gloves collection and the wider hand protection range organized by material, grade, and use.

Safety note: this blend is latex-free, so it suits people with a latex allergy — but a light nitrile/vinyl blend reduces, and does not eliminate, contamination risk, and it is not a substitute for a pure-nitrile or chemical-resistant glove on demanding jobs. Match the glove to the task, change it when torn or soiled, and use it once for food, medical, or contamination-control work.

Ordering FAQ

Is MedPride Blend in stock and ready to ship?
Availability changes — open the linked listing for live price, size and count options, and delivery speed before you order.

What is a nitrile/vinyl blend?
It is a hybrid glove that mixes nitrile and vinyl. The result is a low-cost, latex-free, food-grade glove that is comfortable for light tasks — a middle ground between a cheap vinyl glove and a stronger pure-nitrile glove.

How does it compare to pure nitrile?
It is cheaper and fine for light-duty jobs, but a blend is less elastic and tears more easily than pure nitrile. If you need more durability for shop, sharp, or heavy tasks, choose a pure-nitrile glove instead.

Are they food-safe?
Yes — MedPride lists these as food-grade, and reviewers use them constantly for food prep, deboning chicken, mixing meatloaf, and general kitchen work.

Are they powder-free and latex-free?
Yes — powder-free and latex-free, so there is no powder residue and no natural-latex proteins.

Why do some tear when putting them on?
Because a blend is less stretchy than pure nitrile, they can rip if you tug them on hard or pick a size that is too small. Get your size right and roll them on gently and this is much less of an issue.

What are they best for?
Light-duty everyday tasks: food prep and cooking, household cleaning, salon and hair-dye work, painting, potting plants, and general messy jobs where you just want a clean barrier.

Are they exam grade?
Yes — they are non-sterile examination gloves suitable for healthcare, dental, and home care as well as household use.

What sizes and counts are available?
Sizes Small through X-Large, in boxes of 100 with a 1000-count case option. The fit is ambidextrous and flexible.

Can I reuse them?
They are single-use gloves from the nitrile gloves range, though for very light, clean tasks some users get more than one use. For food, medical, or contamination-control work use them once and change them.

Are they good for heavy or sharp work?
No — as a light blend they are not for sharp edges, heavy abrasion, or chemical exposure. Use a thicker pure-nitrile or chemical-resistant glove for that.

How do I reorder?
Reorder from this page — the listing and its linked item stay constant, so restocking with the same box from the hand protection range takes seconds.

Excellent throw-away option
I've used these kind of throw-away gloves for years. They started out as throw-aways for medical purposes, so by design they're basically one and done, although for light use can be reused. When doing yard work, I use them as a liner for heavy duty garden gloves (which when they get wet the dirt works its way through and dirties your hands). Like all plastic gloves your hands sweat in them (a lot), which means you will be peeling them off periodically anyway. I've used them when painting, where they do great with spray cans that always seem to get paint on your trigger finger. You have enough tactile feel that you can pick up small objects (think coins). I've even used them when working with cement that needs to be shaped. If I still worked on cars, I'm quite sure they would keep grease off your hands. The one weakness is that if snagged they tear, so they're not a substitute for heavier-duty kitchen gloves, but if snagged it's just a case of taking the glove off and putting on a new one. There are heat resistant versions that you now see routinely used for professional food prep. For this type, the price is right and like Kleenex, I try to keep a couple of boxes on hand since you never know when something you are doing calls for them.

Versatile, strong, and useful for dishwashing, gardening, and more!
The back of the box containing these gloves state that they are "intended for Medical purposes, worn on examiner's hand or fingers." However, we've found more uses for these handy, disposable gloves, as they are good for tasks when you want to protect your hand because of sensitive skin or to prevent contamination. Such tasks include dishwashing, light gardening and soil mixing, cleaning toilets and light housework, washing cars, etc. They are quite strong -- I stretched one glove to see if it would break, tear, etc., and it did not.My primary complaint is that, if you're interested in protecting the environment, these gloves are single use only -- after using them, you dispose them. Not good for our environment. Also, some users may find that they are allergic to these gloves.Overall: recommended to all.

The Sensory Savior: A Review for People Who Hate Having "Stuff" on Their Hands
Look, I’m going to be real. I have some serious sensory issues. I don’t just "dislike" a mess; I am physically offended by it. If I’m making meatballs or painting a room, the feeling of that "gunk" caked on my skin is enough to make me want to retire from society. It’s a first-world problem, sure, but it’s my reality.Enter the Med Pride Nitrile/Vinyl Blend. These aren't those flimsy, supermarket-tier bags that rip the second you look at them. These are high-quality, reliable barrier protection. The Fit: Built for the 90%If you look at the bell curve of hand sizes, unless you are in the top decile (the 10% of people with actual gorilla hands), these are going to fit you like a dream. I have average hands, and they slide on so easily it’s almost cozy. There is zero constriction. They are sturdy, they don't rip when you’re pulling them on, and they don't interfere with your dexterity at all.10 Times You’ll Thank Yourself for Wearing These:1. The Meatball Massacre: Mixing raw meat and eggs without the fat getting under your fingernails is pure bliss.2. Spicy Pepper Prep: No more accidental "Jalapeño Eye" three hours after cooking.3. The "Subway Shield": Honestly, if it weren’t social suicide, I’d wear these on the train every day. People are gross. This is a tactical barrier against the "mystery pole residue."4. The Messy Burger: Eating a juicy, cheesy, onion-laden burger with gloves on sounds crazy until you realize your hands are bone-dry and clean when you’re done.5. Trash Juice Defense: Taking out a leaking bag? Don't let the mystery liquid touch your soul.6. Deep-Cleaning: Keeps the bleach and the grime at a safe, professional distance.7. Hand-Mixed Salads: Get the dressing distributed perfectly without the vinaigrette slick on your palms.8. Painting & Staining: No more scrubbing your cuticles with turpentine for an hour.9. Potting Plants: Get into the dirt without the grit getting stuck in your skin.10. The "Everything" Barrier: Basically, any time life tries to put its "ick" on you, these gloves say "not today."Final VerdictThese gloves are brilliant. They are essentially hand condoms for your sanity. They don't snap, they don't splatter when you roll them off, and they provide a layer of peace in a messy world. If the "first-world problem" of sticky hands feels like a genuine crisis to you, buy these. They’re comfortable enough to wear all day, the quality is exponentially better than the cheap stuff, and they save you from "the scrub." 10/10.

Great Price. Good quality.
I have trouble with regular vinyl gloves so these Nitrile blend gloves are great. They always fit well. Easy on and off. Great price as well. I have been using these since pre-pandemic and have never had one tear on me. Other brands tear if you pull them on too hard. Very consistent quality on these gloves.

Mid quality
They work fine but tear too easily when you put them on because they are not elastic like better quality gloves, so if it is not exactly your hand size it will be hard to use them without tearing.

Good purchase, especially for people with RV and the need to dump the tanks daily.
We live in our RV motor home and we have to dump the black and the grey water tanks every day. So I use these daily. I fit good and they stay in place and they don't break or have a leaks. I'm quite happy with them.

I think they run a bit small otherwise good thickness and no tearing
I like the thickness of these gloves, but they seem to run small. I ordered my normal size as I am a small/medium so I got the medium and they are very very hard to get them on and off. If not for the sizing, I think they are fantastic as they are a thicker material and don't seem to tear or rip as other gloves I have bought seem to do. I bought them so I could use them for light cleaning and various outdoor chores. I think the grip is ok on slippery bags of mulch etc., but again the sizing seems to run a bit small. There is no strong odor and they do the job as intended just wish the sizing was better.
