It works great!
Used this meter when testing for propane,tanks lines, and connections! Have to say pretty impressive especially when a friend was complaining about headaches and used to find leaky connection on his stove.Had him call licensed tradesman to do a complete going over. That was the only leak in the end but friend had who system redone and the propane smoke detector replaced.These do work and quality is very good. Leak detection is awesome for the money.

GREAT FEATURESS - HEAD PROTECTION MODIFIED TO IMPROVE DETECTION PERFORMANCE....
EDIT:AS THE FEATURES OF THIS UNIT WERE DESIRABLE TO HAVE IN A GAS LEAK DETECTOR, I DID KEEP THIS UNIT. THE MODIFICATION TO THE SENSOR HEAD PROTECTION COVER ARE MY OWN, AND NOT SANCTIONED BY TOPTES. THE RESULTS OF MY RETESTING SHOWED AN IMPROVEMENT IN GAS DETECTION SPEED WITH RESULTS THAT WERE SIMILAR TO MY "PEN TYPE" DETECTOR. THE RUDIMENTARY MODIFICATION WILL SERVE ME WELL WITH IMPROVED GAS DETECTION PERFORMANCE....I WAS looking forward to using/keeping this unit, BUT, an overly protective sensor head protection "face" severely limited the availability of proper airflow to the sensor electronics. The FIGARO sensor itself has a fine mesh screen to protect the electronics, which should be more than adequate to protect the sensor, but, it is very clear to see that the amount of available air to test is GREATLY blocked by the front face plastic cover - with holes - that do block AT LEAST 50-60% of the ambient air to enter the sensor for detection. In contrast, the 20 dollar "pen type" detector pictured does also have a protection cover over the sensor, BUT, there is a much greater "air availability" for the sensor to "see", thereby making the less expensive unit a QUICKER performer for when you test for leaks. Granted, the features of the PT-830S are great, but, again, it is the detection performance that counts.

Great Sensitivity Gas Leak Detector
I needed a reasonably sensitive gas leak detector for RV inspections and repairs. This unit is quick to detect leaks and the flexible probe give me extra reach to let it sniff for leaks. I particularly like the numeric ppm meter. This gives me a value I can put in my reports opposed to merely saying gas was detected. This may not be gas company grade equipment, but for a small business with a need for such tools, its a winner.

Could Not Detect A Leak I Could Smell
Although this detector claims to be able to detect natural gas leaks below 1 ppm, it failed to do so for a leak I could easily smell. It appeared to calibrate correctly and did respond to a test using my stovetop burner. Following the instructions to the letter, I could not get it to measure my leak, even after giving it over a minute to do so.
