Blue nitrile gloves in the standard industrial tier β€” GLOVEWORKS 5 mil

When a shop says "grab the blue nitrile gloves," this is the tier they mean: 5 mil industrial nitrile, powder-free, 100 to the box, tough enough for automotive fluids and parts handling but light enough to wear all day. The GLOVEWORKS line is AMMEX's industrial brand, and this blue box is its center of gravity β€” with food-contact compliance included, so the same glove legally covers prep-counter duty. For the wider material decision, the how to choose disposable gloves walkthrough and the nitrile vs latex vs vinyl reference are the quick reads.

Shoppers reach it as gloveworks nitrile gloves, generic 5 mil nitrile gloves, or the exact gloveworks blue nitrile gloves β€” all landing on the same working standard.

Key features

  • 5 mil nitrile β€” the standard industrial gauge
  • Blue high-contrast colorway; tears and grime show instantly
  • Food-safe: food-contact compliance alongside the industrial rating
  • Powder-free, latex-free; 100 gloves per box
  • One stocked configuration β€” the linked Amazon listing carries the size run

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Abrasion-heavy work still favors 6-8 mil heavy tiers

What the GLOVEWORKS blue is for

Stock it as the house glove: oil changes, parts washing, janitorial chemistry at label strength, prep-counter cover, jobsite cleanup. It lives in the nitrile gloves collection beside our trade gloves; mechanics comparing picks should read the best nitrile gloves for mechanics guide, cleaning crews the cleaning guide, and food operations the food service guide. Employers documenting selection under OSHA 1910.132 should keep the assessment with the standing order.

Up or down the gauge ladder

Below this tier, the AMMEX 3 mil food-safe line wins on change-rate economics; above it, the heavy-duty nitrile guide covers the 6-8 mil tiers for abrasive work. Sensitive-skin crews should see the accelerator-free guide, and exam settings the Kimtech Sterling and the exam-glove guide. Chemical work beyond splash belongs in the chemical-resistant gloves collection, and the nitrile vs latex guide arbitrates the material question β€” AMMEX even makes the same blue heavy concept in latex as the Gloveworks HD blue latex, in the latex gloves collection. Budget light-duty roles can also weigh the vinyl gloves collection.

Safety note: match this glove to your hazard assessment. A 5 mil industrial nitrile glove handles grime and incidental splash β€” it is not chemical splash hazard protection for concentrated or immersion work, carries no cut rating, and claims no exam designation. Engineering controls come first.

Ordering FAQ

Which size of the GLOVEWORKS blue nitrile gloves should I order?
The linked Amazon listing carries the manufacturer's size run. Industrial disposables should fit close without straining the palm β€” size up if you sit between sizes.

Are the GLOVEWORKS blue gloves in stock and ready to ship?
This listing is active and ships through Amazon. Open the linked listing for live availability, size options, and delivery speed.

How many gloves come in a box?
100 gloves per box on this configuration β€” case tiers, when offered, are shown on the linked Amazon listing.

What is the GLOVEWORKS blue line built for?
General industrial work: shop tasks, automotive fluids, janitorial rounds, parts handling β€” with food-contact compliance included, so one box covers the shop and the break-room kitchen alike.

What does 5 mil mean in practice?
Mil is thousandths of an inch of glove wall. Five mil is the standard industrial tier β€” noticeably tougher than 3 mil food-service film, lighter and cheaper than 6-8 mil heavy tiers.

Are these food safe?
Yes β€” the line carries food-contact compliance alongside its industrial rating. Verify the configuration's compliance statement on the linked listing if your inspector asks.

Are these latex-free?
Yes β€” nitrile is a synthetic rubber with no natural latex proteins, safe for latex-sensitized crews.

Why are industrial nitrile gloves usually blue?
Blue is the industry's default nitrile color β€” high contrast against skin and most work surfaces, so tears and contamination show instantly. The color itself carries no rating.

Can I use the GLOVEWORKS blue with chemicals?
For incidental splash and routine dilutions, yes. For concentrated chemistry or immersion, match the glove polymer to the specific chemical via your safety data sheets and the chemical-resistant collection.

Are these reusable?
No β€” they are single-use disposables. Inspect on donning and discard at any tear or swelling; fresh-pair-per-task is the format's logic.

GLOVEWORKS blue or the AMMEX 3 mil β€” which should I buy?
Same maker, different tiers: the 3 mil AMMEX line is the thin high-change-rate food-service pick; this 5 mil GLOVEWORKS blue is the sturdier all-around industrial box. Match gauge to how hard the task is on gloves.

Do these carry an exam designation?
No β€” this is the industrial line. For exam-grade nitrile, choose a listing that explicitly carries it, like the Kimtech exam family we cover.

How do I reorder the GLOVEWORKS blue gloves later?
Reorder from this page β€” the product listing and its linked Amazon ASIN stay constant, so a repeat order takes seconds.

Decent nitrile gloves
In my workplace, we wear gloves all day long, frequently going through several boxes a week depending upon the workload. So I have a lot of experience wearing gloves, having tried at least a dozen different brands over the years. I also have a latex allergy, also thanks to years of wearing latex gloves, before being forced to switch to nitrile.I could "borrow" gloves from my workplace one might argue, but I find that disagreeable on several levels. Beside it is a good way to lose a job I rather enjoy. In the few weeks of moderate use, these nitrile gloves have held up well. I have yet to break them, something I cannot say of the current model I use at work, thanks to the brand deciding to "improve" it. They are easy to don and get off, and of a decent thickness for strength and dexterity. I would say they are slightly thicker than my work gloves, but since I am using them at home to protect me from what I am handling, as opposed to protecting what I am handling from me at work, they are the better choice. They appear to be made by one of a known brand company (may well all come from the same factory for all I know) that I have trusted at work, so not surprising.Size-wise, they are probably a little small for large, but fit my hands perfectly.Recommended.

thick and durable
We use these kind of disposable gloves all the time, even before pandemic, so we know there is a difference between the thickness of it that make it last longer or easy to break. Yup, some gloves we had before were too thin that won't last half way of a household cleaning chore. This glove is in the middle to high thickness, and the price is decent. I tried one hand with a thinner glove and one with this glove cleaning the garage, washing and moving boxes around, the thinner one did last to the end, but looks to be on its last leg, while this glove can be reused for the next job.Good product, if you don't mind spend a bit more, it will last longer too!

No, Powder no fit large hands
Without Powder, they’re too hard to use, and I use extra large gloves but can’t find the ones anymore that have Powder in them

Very Good Medium Use Gloves
I use these gloves for house cleaning, food preparation, car maintenance and painted a couple of rooms. I like that they are strong without being too thick. They are easy to put on and take off (I have not torn any). I especially like that they are easy to get out of the box. I have tried several other brands but these are the best. The large size fits more like a medium large which is perfect for me.

Rubber Gloves
Gloves worked very well, they were thin enough for comfort but thick enough for protecting skin.

Size ran small
The box arrived promptly and in good shape. The gloves seem to be thick and flexible enough but they do run small. I have short fingers and when following the size chart I fell with-in the small size. They are so tight I can barely get them on. They are really sweatly to wear because they are so tight. I have worn them a few times but not certain if I will keep trying to use them or just donate them and look for a brand and size that fits better, Not sure I want to try to next size up. I do want some that fit without being difficult to get on and off and that do not result in heavily sweaty hands with every time wearing. It the ones you receive fit well, you will be satisfied with these gloves.

Tears frequently when donning
They seem thinner than advertised and often read when I put them on. Even as a standard cuff it seems short.

The Go-to glove for renovators and even metalsmiths
Compared to the outrageous prices everyone has been putting on gloves here lately, these prices perfectly. As person who not only works with cleaning metals (leaving black tarnish and other residues caked on the hands) but also in renovations (applying sheetrock mud, primers, paints, cleaning abandon homes which can be super gross and quote risky for someone who has a terrible knack for getting infections), I depend on gloves daily. These are a nice snug fit (imperative) and just thick enough I don't have to worry about small snags or them wearing thin quickly from chemicals which dry out my hands faster than I can apply more lotion. These fit all the criteria I need for daily use and the millions of projects I have going throughout the week! Huge thanks to the sellers and the brand! Will definitely be purchasing regularly!
