EDITORIAL REVIEW: 4.4/5 — WC Safety Review of the Pyramex Goliath, the large-lens wraparound whose coverage cuts the need for side shields.
Editorial assessment by Steven Eaton, WC Safety editor, based on published Pyramex specifications and category fit. We did not laboratory-test this product.

The Pyramex Goliath is a full-coverage wraparound safety frame with a distinctive large-lens profile that provides broad coverage across the upper, lower, and lateral fields of view — a design that reduces the need for separate side shields in most work environments. Rated ANSI Z87+ high-impact, it comes in black and white frame options with a wide range of lens tints including polarized and mirror finishes, plus an anti-fog gray, across ten variants.

Why the Pyramex Goliath covers more without side shields

Smaller safety frames leave gaps that some sites plug with clip-on side shields — one more part to lose or forget. The Goliath's oversized wraparound lens closes those gaps by design, extending protection up, down, and around the sides so more of the eye area is shielded from debris and UV in one piece. Broad coverage, wide sightlines, and a big tint range make it a strong general-industrial default. Our full Pyramex Goliath review rates it 4.4/5, and the safety glasses buyer's guide covers coverage tradeoffs.

Safety first: broad wraparound coverage reduces the need for side shields in most settings, but the Goliath is still impact-and-debris protection, not a sealed goggle — it is not rated against a chemical splash hazard, fine airborne dust, or vapor, which require sealed goggles or a face shield per your hazard assessment. Confirm against your site's hazard assessment before dropping dedicated side or splash protection. Choose eyewear against measured hazards with the when-do-you-need-safety-glasses guide.

What the listing documents

From the published specs: ANSI Z87+ certification (Z87.1 high-impact); a full-coverage wraparound frame with a distinctive large-lens profile covering the upper, lower, and lateral fields; black and white frame options; ten tints including polarized and mirror finishes plus a Gray Anti-Fog; base model SB5610D. As pyramex safety glasses go, the Goliath is the coverage member — a genuine large lens safety glasses build and a true full coverage safety glasses that trims the need for side shields.

Choosing your Goliath variant

Match the lens to the task: Clear or Gray Anti-Fog from the clear-lens collection for indoor and humid work, Gray and mirror tints for outdoor glare, Indoor/Outdoor for shifting light from the I/O collection, and the Gray Polarized from the polarized collection for reflective glare — the polarized guide covers the tradeoffs, and the clear-vs-smoke guide settles the outdoor tint.

Where the Goliath sits in the Pyramex line

The Goliath is Pyramex's coverage frame; the Intruder is the lightweight low-profile option, the Velar is the stable co-injected full-frame, and the I-Force is the dual-pane anti-fog specialist. Browse the full Pyramex safety glasses collection, and the best safety glasses 2026 roundup places the line against other brands.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The broad coverage suits general industry, construction, and outdoor trades with airborne debris — the construction, manufacturing, and mechanics guides rank frames by task, and smaller-faced wearers should check the small-face guide and women's fit guide. Where the hazard exceeds impact — splash, dust, vapor — step to a sealed goggle from the safety goggles collection or the broader eye protection collection. Frequently asked questions

What is the Pyramex Goliath?

A full-coverage wraparound safety frame with a distinctive large-lens profile that provides broad coverage across the upper, lower, and lateral fields of view - reducing the need for separate side shields in most work environments. It is ANSI Z87+ rated and comes in ten frame-and-lens variants.

What does the large-lens profile do?

The oversized wraparound lens extends coverage up, down, and to the sides, so more of the eye area is shielded from airborne particles, flying debris, and UV - which is why it reduces the need for the add-on side shields some smaller frames require.

Is it ANSI Z87+ rated?

Yes - the Goliath is ANSI Z87+ certified, meeting the ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 high-impact standard for regulated industrial and construction jobsites.

What tints does the Goliath come in?

A wide range across ten variants: Clear, Gray, Gray Anti-Fog, Ice Orange, Silver Mirror, Ice Blue Mirror, Indoor/Outdoor, Gray Polarized, and Sky Red Mirror, on black or white frames. Match the tint to your light and conditions.

Does the Goliath have a polarized option?

Yes - the Gray Polarized variant (SB5621D) cuts reflected glare off water, wet pavement, and polished surfaces that standard tints don't address. Our polarized guide covers when it's worth it.

Which variant has anti-fog?

The Gray Anti-Fog variant (SB5620DT) carries an anti-fog coating. For persistent fogging beyond a coating, step up to the dual-pane Pyramex I-Force.

Does the large lens replace side shields entirely?

In most environments the broad wraparound coverage reduces the need for separate side shields, but always confirm against your site's hazard assessment - some tasks or standards still require dedicated side protection or goggles.

Is it over-the-glasses (OTG)?

No - the Goliath is not an OTG frame. Prescription-glasses wearers should look at an over-the-glasses model or a sealed OTG goggle for the right application.

Is it enough, or do I need goggles?

The Goliath's large lens gives broad impact and debris coverage, but it does not seal against a chemical splash hazard, fine dust, or vapor - those need sealed goggles or a face shield. Match the eyewear to your hazard assessment.

Is the large lens good for wide-field awareness?

Yes - the broad upper, lower, and lateral coverage keeps more of your field of view unobstructed while protected, which suits tasks needing wide situational awareness on busy sites.

How do I care for the lenses?

Rinse grit before wiping and use a microfiber or lens-safe cloth; harsh cleaners strip anti-fog, polarized, and mirror coatings. Retire a lens once scratches enter your line of sight - a scratched safety lens no longer protects fully.

How do I order for a crew?

Does the job.
Not much to say—they do what they’re made to do. I ride a motorcycle and my helmet has a dark visor on it, so I bought this so I didn’t have to change my visor constantly when I rode.I got a small-ish head, so I look goofy as heck with them on—but they fit overall well and do the job... They fit nicely with my Sedici Strada 3 helmet. They’re good quality. Seems pretty durable. They don’t block all of the wind, but plenty of it.Overall satisfied. Especially for the price!

Good Glasses
I bought these glasses to go to the range. For the price, I would highly recommend. It has great build, and tosses around in my bag, scratch free! The glasses are on the bulkier side so if you have a smaller head then they made poke out slightly.

Full facial coverage
These are high quality safety glasses. They are unisex and fit comfortably on both mine and my husband’s face. They feel sturdy and durable with balanced weight to them. They fit snuggly and provide full coverage protection to the eyes. The lenses are not advertised as anti-fogging or scratch resistant but I have not had any issues so far.

Protect yourself
These fit great, they feel of semi decent quality, and block the whole eye. Actually got cocky with them the day I got them and used on a night fat bike ride and we’re great. When we stopped they fogged up but to be expected. Otherwise already dozens of hours in the shop and around the house. Put in a ceiling fan and a bathroom fan which these were essential to complete the task. Definitely recommend.
