Why the NoCry Clear is the everyday DIY pick

Not every task needs an industrial-grade frame — for cutting the lawn, running the table saw in the garage, or a weekend renovation, you want reliable impact protection that's light and cheap enough to keep in a drawer. The NoCry Clear is that: a Z87.1 wraparound with clear UV lenses, rubber-tipped temples, and a lightweight frame in a range of colors. For DIY, home improvement, and light work, it's an accessible everyday choice. Our full NoCry Clear review rates it 4.2/5, and the safety glasses buyer's guide covers when a light everyday frame is the right call.

Safety first: the NoCry Clear meets ANSI Z87.1 impact protection, but it is not a sealed goggle — it is not rated against a chemical splash hazard, fine airborne dust, or vapor, which require sealed goggles or a face shield per your hazard assessment. It's positioned for DIY and light use; for heavy full-shift industrial hazards, a premium frame is the sturdier pick. Choose eyewear against measured hazards with the when-do-you-need-safety-glasses guide.

What the listing documents

From the published specs: ANSI Z87.1 impact certification; a lightweight wraparound polycarbonate frame with a clear UV lens and rubber-tipped temples for basic retention; several two-tone frame colors plus a green-tinted variant; base model B07GB8Y11G. As nocry safety glasses go, the Clear is the everyday member — a genuine clear safety glasses build and a true lightweight safety glasses for DIY and light work.

Choosing your NoCry Clear variant

The lens is clear for indoor and general work from the clear-lens collection, with a green-tinted variant for a little glare cut. The clear-vs-smoke lens guide covers when a tint helps; the NoCry Clear has no dedicated anti-fog, so for humid work see the anti-fog guide and anti-fog collection, and for shifting light an indoor/outdoor lens from another model.

Where the NoCry Clear sits

NoCry offers this standard wraparound alongside its Over Eyeglasses OTG frame for prescription wearers. For a step up in full-shift industrial durability, brand lines like the 3M and MCR Safety collections offer adjustable fit and stronger anti-fog, and the best safety glasses 2026 roundup compares them. The eye protection collection covers the full category, including sealed goggles for heavier hazards.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The light everyday frame suits DIY, yard work, and light industrial tasks — the construction, manufacturing, and mechanics guides rank frames by task, and smaller-faced wearers should check the small-face guide and women's fit guide. Where the hazard exceeds impact — splash, dust, vapor — step to a sealed goggle from the safety goggles collection. Reading the Z87 marking, and what it does not cover

Protective eyewear in the US is built to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1, and OSHA 1910.133 requires eye protection that meets it. The marking on the frame is the specification, and the important distinction is a single character: Z87 is basic impact, Z87+ is high impact — tested with a quarter-inch steel ball at 150 ft/s for spectacles. If the work throws anything, Z87+ is the line.

The suffixes narrow it further: D3 is splash and droplet, D4 dust, D5 fine dust. These matter because a spectacle cannot earn D3 — droplet protection needs a sealed goggle. Safety glasses are impact protection, not chemical splash protection, however wraparound the lens looks, and substituting one for the other is a common and consequential error.

A face shield is also secondary protection under 1910.133: it is worn over primary eye protection, never instead of it. And tint is not shade — a dark lens without a stated IR/UV shade number offers no rated protection against radiant energy.

Frequently asked questions

What are the NoCry Clear safety glasses?

ANSI Z87.1-rated wraparound protective eyewear for DIY, home improvement, yard work, and light industrial use. They pair a clear polycarbonate UV lens with a lightweight wraparound frame and rubber-tipped temples, in several two-tone frame colors.

Is it ANSI Z87.1 rated?

Yes - the NoCry Clear meets the ANSI Z87.1 standard for impact eye protection, so it satisfies the requirement for most DIY, yard, and light industrial eye hazards.

What is the NoCry Clear best suited for?

DIY projects, home improvement, yard and lawn work, and light industrial or occasional-use tasks - jobs where you want reliable impact protection and UV in a light, comfortable frame without a premium build.

Does the clear lens block UV?

Yes - the clear polycarbonate lens provides UV protection while keeping full color perception, which suits indoor work and outdoor tasks where you don't want a dark tint.

What frame colors does it come in?

Several two-tone combinations including Black/Red, Black/Green, White/Red, White/Pink, and Black/Black, plus a green-tinted variant. Frame color is preference; the protection is the same across colors.

Do the rubber-tipped temples help?

Yes - the rubber-tipped temples add grip for basic retention, helping the lightweight frame stay put during active DIY and yard work, though it isn't an adjustable ratchet system.

How does it compare to the NoCry Over Eyeglasses?

The NoCry Clear is a standard wraparound for people who don't wear prescription glasses; the NoCry Over Eyeglasses is the OTG version that fits over your own glasses. Choose the Clear for a standard fit, the Over Eyeglasses if you wear Rx.

Is it over-the-glasses (OTG)?

No - the standard NoCry Clear is not an OTG frame. Prescription-glasses wearers should look at the NoCry Over Eyeglasses instead.

Is it enough, or do I need goggles?

The NoCry Clear protects against impact and debris from the front and sides. It does not seal against a chemical splash hazard, fine dust, or vapor - those need sealed goggles or a face shield. Match the eyewear to your hazard assessment.

Is it good for occasional or heavy use?

It's positioned for DIY and occasional-to-light use. For heavy full-shift industrial wear, a premium frame with adjustable fit and stronger anti-fog will hold up better, but for around-the-house and light work the NoCry Clear is a practical value.

How do I care for the lenses?

Rinse grit before wiping and use a microfiber or lens-safe cloth; harsh cleaners haze polycarbonate. Retire the lens once scratches enter your line of sight - a scratched safety lens no longer protects fully.

How do I order for a crew?

Quantity purchasing runs through a free Amazon Business account - volume pricing, PO numbers at checkout, and tax-exempt eligibility for qualifying organizations. The bulk-ordering walkthrough is linked in our site footer.

Comfortable protection
I needed some eye protection while using my Dremel tool. These glasses are comfortable to wear with its adjustability. Didn’t fog up while using it. Seems well constructed and haven’t had any mishaps to test it but I feel confident in its durably. Has nice all around protection on all sides and is nice and clear to see through.

Nice quality and less expensive eye protection
Quality glasses that fit well. The side covers allow extra eye protection. Antifog is also helpful although we didn’t test that.

Protects Your Eyeballs.
Actual glasses are great. Clear sightlines and they've stopped many shell casings from hitting my face. They fit great and are comfortable on my larger than average head (one size fits all hats don't fit my head, I have to bring my own helmet to places if I want to do anything that requires a helmet).I bought these for shooting but I use them for light housework as well. They've held up to woodchips, and light stone debris from a masonry grinder with no major visible scratches at all.Super pleased with the lenses but the black frame/ear supports leave a bit to be desired. The left arm (apparently, they're called "temples", who knew) snapped in half during normal operation. I mean, sure, I tried to pull them off when my ear protection was on, but I consider that normal operation and I didn't unnecessarily bend them. In any case, the arm snapped. It's just flexible cheap plastic which is probably why it's so comfortable and even fits my head in the first place but maybe handle the arms with kid gloves if you choose to get a pair.

Very comfortable and light weight
These safety glasses are great! Very comfortable to wear while doing yard work like mowing the lawn or trimming weeds with the weed trimmer. Things can fly around and get in your eyes. These glasses provide protection for that. They seem to be well made and very light weight.

Great Safety Glasses for mowing and atv riding
These safety glasses exceed my expectations. They are well designed and quality materials. I needed these for dual purpose, 1. for mowing, as these wrap nicely around eye to prevent dust & debris from getting into my eyes. 2. We ride ATV's and these are great as they are light weight, but with a great wrap fit to prevent blowing dust! I ordered 2 pairs, 1 clear and one shaded! They are not like a lot of safety glasses which are bulky and tight fitting, but more like a pair of sunglasses with improved design and features. Highly recommend if you are looking for such a solution.

No Crying Over This Purchase!
Really a gem for wraparound safety glasses.I've been through ALOT of safety glasses and these do what they're supposed to. I can't deal with the cheapo multi-pack pairs anymore when I don't have to and really appreciate this design. The red is tasteful and might even help me keep up with them better when I drop them out in the yard! The inner arms are grippy and allow me to have my head tilted all the way forward without losing these off my head (no glasses strap needed!)They feel sturdy but lightweight, and though I hope I don't ever have to find out how well they work, I feel confident in the material after wearing them. The clarity is great and my field of vision is wide and unhindered due to the wraparound design.I love that I can adjust these arms out slightly to fit my head shape more comfortably to!
