This Helmet Is Rock Solid - Very Comfortable - The MIPS Is A Nice Feature - Fit My Huge Head Great
I'm a safety professional by day, and I love the opportunity to try out new PPE when it shows up on Amazon, especially when it's from a reputable brand like MSA. Out of the box, the helmet is really impressive looking in overall quality and durability of the materials used. There are no defects at all in the manufacturing.The helmet has a massive amount of size adjustment. I have a 7 5/8" bucket sized head and it fits me with ample adjustment left in the suspension/ratchet. The type 2 straps are attached well to the headgear and the chin strap is not any less comfortable than the one on my Studson full brim that I normally wear. They are using a normal plastic buckle on the chin strap, which I actually prefer compared to the magnetic clip on my Studson that has a tendency to sometimes pick up little bits of metal shavings when I set it down.The hardest part of getting used to a type 2 is the chin strap. Once you get used to the chin strap, it's a hands down better experience compared to wearing a type 1. The interior suspension on this helmet is more like a bicycle helmet than a traditional hard hat and it's so much more comfortable for all-day wear. The foam padding inside of this helmet adds to the comfort significantly, and the foam insert cradles your head and gives way better protection. I opted to try out the MIPS version versus the non-MIPS version because of the extra layer of protection. This relatively new tech is great for helmets. It doesn't require you to recharge a battery or anything like a normal piece of tech does. This is completely batteryless and works through the design. This is a second layer (the thinner foam insert) that allows the helmet to rotate on your head upon impact from the side, which will reduce the propensity of the helmet to turn turn your head on your neck in a side impact situation.This is a really well made helmet, and I am super happy I got the opportunity to test it out. I am going to start putting it into a rotation with my Studson and wearing it regularly to decide if I want to make this my new daily helmet. I would definitely recommend this helmet!
