Milwaukee BOLT Safety Helmet — White Vented, Type 2 Class C

This model is rated ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 Type 2, Class C. Type 2 adds lateral impact protection. Class C (Conductive) provides no electrical insulation — do not use near live conductors. If electrical hazard protection is required, you need a Class E or Class G helmet.

ANSI Z89.1 Type 1 protects only against top-of-head impacts. Type 2 adds lateral (side, front, and rear) impact protection — required by OSHA in many construction scenarios and increasingly specified in project specs for at-height work.

Yes — the BOLT system is designed for use with Milwaukee BOLT-compatible face shields, earmuffs, lights, and other PPE. Only use accessories labeled BOLT-compatible; non-BOLT accessories may not seat securely.

ANSI Z89.1 does not require a sealed shell for structural integrity. Venting is achieved through molded slots in the outer shell. Impact absorption comes from the suspension system and shell geometry, not a hermetic seal. Vented helmets are not appropriate near live electrical conductors (Class E or G requirement) — but for Class C general construction, venting is permitted and reduces heat fatigue.

Milwaukee recommends replacing the shell after any significant impact, after 5 years from manufacture date, or when visible damage (cracks, chalking, UV weathering) is present. The suspension should be replaced every 12 months or on any sign of damage. The manufacture date is molded inside the shell.

Solvent-based paints and certain adhesives can degrade the shell material and void ANSI compliance. Manufacturer-approved pressure-sensitive labels are generally acceptable. When in doubt, select the appropriate shell color from Milwaukee's available variants rather than painting.

OSHA 29 CFR 1926.100 does not universally mandate chin straps but your site's Job Safety Analysis (JSA) may require them when there is risk of helmet displacement from falls or equipment contact. The 5-point chin strap on this helmet meets that requirement for BOLT-equipped work.

The adjustable suspension accommodates most adult head circumferences (approximately 20"–24"). The ratchet adjuster allows incremental tightening. If your head circumference exceeds 24", check Milwaukee's extended-fit accessory options.
