Ok, that's not saying much, but seriously the 6-pin core on this thing is actually pretty good despite having been made by Master. This lock is harder to pick than an American 1100. Which, really, begs the question why their best core can only be found in a plastic lock when they've got locks that are invulnerable to any destructive attack short of power tools that can be picked by a 10 year old. But still, I think this lock is an essential addition to any intermediate hobby lockpicker's collection.

First of all, never pick a lock you don't own, and never pick a lock that is in regular use. These rules especially apply for these locks!If you're getting into picking locks and looking for something with a few security pins on the cheap, these are the most secure cores Master Lock makes. Good core which can be dropped into an American a1100 after you over rotate it and dump the pins inside the lock body and have to break the case and put the pins back in the core. But it wasn't designed for picking so no points off on there.A bit rough, and a bit of a challenge to pick.

I bought this lock to practice lock picking. It was a great challenge to get into with its tiny spool and serrated pins.My brother is a truck driver and uses these on shipments that don't come with a seal. They're great for that purpose since they can't be shimmed open (ball bearing design) and are a bit of a challenge to pick. Of course, they can just be smashed open since the body is made of plastic, but that would leave a mark and let him know to report it.

Be extremely careful picking this lock or you will ruin it!
Be very careful when picking this lock open! It's a key-retaining lock but if you pick it open you won't have the key in it which allows you to turn the cylinder past the point it's supposed to turn. If you do this, the pins will fall out of the cylinder and into the inside of the lock body. This makes the lock rattle and the pins may jam up the mechanism and prevent the lock from ever opening again.
