KASK SuperPlasma HD Safety Helmet Overview

The KASK SuperPlasma HD Safety Helmet is a lightweight vented work and rescue helmet weighing about 420 g, with ten air intakes protected by an anti-intrusion grille. It is certified to ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 Type I and Class C, CSA Z94.1-2015, and EN 12492:2012.

As the KASK SuperPlasma HD (KASK WHE00036), it is a vented work and rescue helmet. This lightweight vented safety helmet is a Type I Class C safety helmet built for airflow and a secure fit at height.

Because it is vented, it is Class C and offers no electrical protection β€” covered below. For electrical work, choose a non-vented Class E helmet such as the KASK Zenith X2. Compare it with the KASK Zenith X-Air and the Petzl Vertex, understand the ratings in hard hat classes explained, and browse the range in safety helmets.

Who This Helmet Is For

Use case Fit Buyer guidance
Hot, active work at height Strong Light 420 g; ten air intakes.
Rescue and rope access Strong Secure UP & Down fit; EN 12492.
Headlamp and visor use Strong Lamp clips and visor attachment.
Electrical or arc-flash hazards Not suitable Vented Class C; use a Class E.
ANSI Type II lateral requirement Not this model SuperPlasma is ANSI Type I.

Match the helmet to the hazard. The SuperPlasma HD is Type I, Class C: Type I covers top impact, and Class C means the vented shell is conductive and gives no electrical protection β€” do not wear it near energized electrical hazards, and choose a non-vented Class E helmet for electrical work. It is ANSI Type I, not Type II, so it is rated for top impact, not lateral impact. Its light weight and ten vents make it comfortable for hot, active work, but a helmet protects your head, not your body: working at height still requires a personal fall arrest system with a harness, connector, and rated anchor. Confirm the Type and Class marked inside the shell against your hazard, and inspect the shell, cradle, and strap before each use. Learn the ratings in Type I vs Type II and hard hats vs safety helmets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ANSI rating does the KASK SuperPlasma HD have?

It is certified to ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 Type I and Class C, plus CSA Z94.1-2015 and EN 12492:2012. Type I covers top impact, and Class C means the vented shell has no electrical protection. Confirm the marking inside your helmet matches your task.

Can I wear it for electrical work?

No. It is vented and Class C, so it offers no electrical protection. For work near energized parts, choose a non-vented Class E helmet and follow your site's electrical-safety rules. The SuperPlasma is built for airflow, not electrical hazards.

Why is a vented helmet only Class C?

Vents let heat escape but also mean the shell cannot block electrical current, so vented helmets are rated Class C. If you need electrical protection you cannot use a vented helmet; pick a sealed Class E shell instead.

How light is it and how is it ventilated?

It weighs about 420 grams, which is light for a work helmet, and it has ten air intakes with an anti-intrusion grille that keeps debris out while letting air flow. That makes it well suited to hot, active work at height.

Is it a Type I or Type II helmet?

The SuperPlasma HD is ANSI Type I, which covers top impact, and it also meets EN 12492. Its ANSI rating is Type I, not Type II, so if you specifically need ANSI Type II lateral protection, choose a Type II helmet.

What is UP & Down adjustment?

UP & Down is KASK's fit system: a center wheel and two side flaps let you adjust the cradle for width, height, and tilt around the neck. A precise fit keeps the helmet stable during active work and rescue.

Can I attach a headlamp and visor?

Yes. It has strong nylon external lamp clips compatible with headlamps that use elastic bands, and an attachment for KASK visors. Confirm your specific lamp or visor is compatible before relying on it.

Does it have a chin strap?

Yes. It has an anallergic, washable chinstrap, which suits a work and rescue helmet where retention at height matters. Adjust it so the helmet stays level and secure and does not shift during movement.

Is it a work helmet or a rescue helmet?

Both. KASK markets the SuperPlasma HD for work at height and rescue, where light weight, ventilation, and a secure fit matter. Confirm it meets the specific standards your task or team requires.

Does the chinstrap release under load?

Retention behavior depends on the standard the helmet is certified to; EN 12492 helmets are designed to stay on during a fall. Confirm the chinstrap standard for your application, since work and rescue uses can have different retention needs.

Does the harness loop make it fall protection?

No. A helmet is head protection, not fall protection. Working at height still requires separate fall-arrest equipment with a harness, connector, and rated anchor, regardless of how secure the helmet fit is.

How do I clean and store it?

Wash the chinstrap and wipe the shell with mild soap and water, avoid solvents that can weaken it, and store it out of direct sunlight and extreme heat. Inspect the shell, cradle, and strap before each use and retire it after any significant impact.

Great Helmet, even for my GIANT head
Ah, the perpetual struggle of finding a helmet that fits when you've got a noggin the size of a hot air balloon! Well, let me tell you, my fellow giant-headed friend, I feel your pain. But fear not, because I've stumbled upon the holy grail of helmets, and it's a game-changer.This helmet's adjustable wizardry is something straight out of a sci-fi movie. I mean, I can wear this bad boy for high-angle rescue missions that seem to go on for days, and guess what? No issues, no discomfort, just pure, unadulterated head coziness. It's like having a cloud cradle your skull, even during the most grueling tasks. Now, let's talk about those vents – a true blessing in the scorching Texas heat. You know it's hot when even your cactus starts sweating! But this helmet, with its venting prowess, is like a mini air conditioning unit strapped to your head. It's practically a breeze in a hurricane, and it keeps your cranium cool and collected when the Texas sun is doing its best to fry your brains. If you're cursed, I mean blessed, with a head that seems to defy the laws of size, this adjustable marvel of a helmet is your ticket to comfort. Whether you're dangling from ropes on high-angle rescues or simply trying to survive a Texas summer, this helmet has got your back, or rather, your head. It's a recommendation as solid as the Lone Star State itself!

The lightweight and very comfortable
Yes, this product is expensive, but it is very lightweight and very comfortable. I have a very large cranium and it fits quite nicely. I think the vision protection is a little expensive but it also works very nice. Be careful if you buy the smoked glass because it is not very tinted, you go with the tenant if you want to block more sunlight that is a great product and I do believe it

Fantastic helmet, works great with headphones
I love this comfortable helmet. I chose this one so I could use it with headphones. They are made to be compatible with the flip down headphones. The system works seamlessly. Top quality harness that your head rides in adjusts easily with a knob behind your head. The chin straps which I only use around helicopters tucks in easily to stay out of the way.

Wear this helmet (black) with ear muffs and clear visor for firewood cutting, farm maintenance, and work. Most comfortable helmet ever in my 70 years.May also buy the tinted visor to compliment the clear on snow days of bright sunlight.Don’t bother to look further, just pay for the quality. You will NOT regret the purchase.
