Hazard Coverage β€” Gerson 3230 EZ-Go N95 Respirator

The Gerson 3230 EZ-Go N95 Respirator is NIOSH-approved under 42Β CFRΒ 84 SubpartΒ K for non-oil-based particulates at β‰₯95% efficiency. Approved hazards include construction and masonry dust, pollen, mold spores, smoke particulates, grain and wood dust, and certain biological aerosols. The 3230 EZ-Go is NOT rated for oil-based particles β€” spray paint mist, cutting fluid aerosols, and lubricant mist degrade N-class electret media faster than rated. For oil environments choose an R95 (oil-resistant, one shift) or P100 (oil-proof). Compare classes in our N95 vs P100 guide and the complete disposable respirator guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 3230 EZ-Go NIOSH-approved?

Yes. The 3230 EZ-Go is NIOSH-approved under 42Β CFRΒ 84 SubpartΒ K as an N95 filtering facepiece respirator, confirming it filters at least 95% of airborne particles β‰₯0.3Β microns. Verify the TC approval number on the NIOSH Certified Equipment List.

What does the N95 rating mean for the 3230 EZ-Go?

The N in N95 stands for not resistant to oil β€” the 3230 EZ-Go is approved for non-oil-based particulates such as dust, pollen, mold spores, and smoke. It should not be used in environments with oil-based aerosols (spray paint mist, cutting fluid, lubricant mist). For oil environments, choose an R95 or P100 mask instead.

Can I reuse the 3230 EZ-Go?

Disposable N95 respirators like the 3230 EZ-Go are designed for single extended use or limited reuse per OSHA guidance β€” they are not washable. Discard when the mask becomes soiled, damaged, hard to breathe through, or after use in a hazardous environment. Follow your employer's written respiratory protection program for reuse decisions.

Does the 3230 EZ-Go require a fit test?

Yes. OSHA 29Β CFRΒ 1910.134 requires a fit test before first use of any N95 respirator in a workplace where it provides occupational protection. Read our fit test guide for qualitative and quantitative options. The 3230 EZ-Go should seal flush against your skin without gaps at the nose bridge or chin.

How do I know the 3230 EZ-Go fits correctly?

Perform a user-seal check each time you don the mask: cup both hands over the mask and exhale sharply β€” if you feel air escaping at the edges, re-adjust the nose clip and re-seat the straps. Our respirator sizing guide covers fit factors by face shape. A proper seal is essential for rated N95 protection.

Is the 3230 EZ-Go safe for COVID-19, smoke, or wildfire ash?

An N95 like the 3230 EZ-Go filters particles at the same size range as many respiratory aerosols, smoke particulates, and wildfire ash. However, this product is an industrial respirator β€” it is not FDA-cleared as a surgical mask unless specifically noted. Check the product label for FDA clearance status if healthcare use is required.

How many 3230 EZ-Go respirators come in a box?

Pack size is shown in the product title and on the box. Browse the full disposable respirator catalog for available box counts β€” options range from individual pouches to bulk industrial packs.

Can I use the 3230 EZ-Go for spray painting?

No. Spray paint and primer produce oil-based aerosols that break down N95 electret filter media faster than rated. For paint booth and spray work, choose an R95 (oil-resistant) or pair an R95 or P100 with an OV/AG nuisance cartridge layer. See our full respirator guide for the right class.

What is the shelf life of the 3230 EZ-Go?

Most disposable N95 respirators carry a manufacturer shelf life of 5Β years from the production date when stored in the original sealed packaging away from sunlight, heat, and humidity. Check the lot code and expiration date printed on the box before use.

Do I need a medical evaluation before using the 3230 EZ-Go at work?

OSHA 29Β CFRΒ 1910.134 requires a medical evaluation before an employee is required to wear a tight-fitting respirator at work. Employers must provide the OSHA Medical Evaluation Questionnaire (AppendixΒ C) before fit testing. Voluntary use of filtering facepieces in non-hazardous environments has a simpler pathway β€” consult your safety officer.

What hazards does the 3230 EZ-Go NOT protect against?

The 3230 EZ-Go does not protect against gases, vapors, or chemical vapors β€” including carbon monoxide, solvent vapors, or ammonia. It also provides no protection against oxygen-deficient atmospheres. For those hazards, use a supplied-air respirator or a half-face/full-face respirator with the appropriate cartridge. See our disposable respirator guide for scope-of-use guidance.

How should I store unused 3230 EZ-Go respirators?

Store unopened 3230 EZ-Go respirators in the original sealed bag or box, in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, chemicals, and extreme temperature. Do not crush or fold the masks. Opened but unused masks can be placed in a clean paper bag in a dust-free area between uses β€” never in a pocket or toolbox where they can become contaminated or deformed.

Not Impossible to Sing In
Trying to get back in church, our choir is looking for ways to be safe, comfortable and audible. My only problem with these is that they run a little small and tight. There is, however, (barely) adequate room inside to project. You have to watch the video and stretch it on exactly as you're told, otherwise the elastic breaks or you mess up your hair, glasses, hearing aids and whatever. Demonstrate to your choir mates and tell them watch me, shut up, and stop whining. These are cheap enough to give away a couple every week to those who are noncompliant through spaciness or childish petulance.

Duck. Duck. Mask.
If you have a low nose bridge and wear glasses, welcome to the promised land! Finally, a mask for us! I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. I take public transportation and these masks, and a shield make me feel very comfortable being exposed to people who refuse to wear a mask and/or for some reason won't cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. (Seriously people? That's just common courtesy. I imagine these are the same people who don't wash their legs in the shower or their hands after they go to the bathroom. YES! I. AM. JUDGING. YOU. I digress....)Anyway, I have a couple of tips for a better fit of these masks.1. You need to pop the seal on the rubber straps of this mask. What does that mean you ask? It means that before you try to pull the straps over that pumpkin head of yours, you need to GENTLY stretch them out from the center. Grab the center of the straps with your index finger and thumb on both hands and ever so GENTLY, stretch out the straps. Your fingers should be an inch or two apart when you do this. The straps will most likely separate and then you can stretch them out a bit more. Why do you have to stretch out the straps? Because when they seal straps to the mask, they use high heat, and the rubber straps quickly contract after they are sealed in the bag.2. I basically split open the mask and put the bottom strap over my head and then fit the bottom of the mask comfortably sealed under my chin. I then mold the upper part around the bridge of my nose and then I place the upper strap over my head and position it just above the slope in my head. If you try to put both straps over your head at once, you're going to snap the straps. Like I said, you bulbous pumpkin heads out there need to slow down and not try to stretch out the straps too quickly while putting on the mask. I would post a video of how to do it, but I'm in the Witness Protection Program, so your loss America! Is this mask for everyone? NOPE. If you aren't used to wearing masks with straps that go over your head, you're probably going to break a lot of the straps on these masks and then write a horrible review. They use these masks in ACTUAL labs, so they can’t be THAT horrible. Maybe it’s you???? If you have a pumpkin head and a moon pie face, you're probably going to hate these as well.I have been using these masks since early 2020. The parental units sent them to me from abroad and told me to start wearing them ASAP. I've never looked back. I have tried other brands, but this duckbill mask suits me best. My glasses never fog up and because it has a duckbill shape, I don't have to take it off unless I eat or drink. I can speak clearly and breathe comfortably all day in this mask.I say, give them a try and see how it goes. Hope these masks help you stay safe and healthy!CHEERS!

Straps broke!
The straps broke as soon as I put it on. I bought them from another company in the past and that didn't happen. Both boxes were slightly open. They won't even give me a replacement. Next time I'll pay more and buy from the other company. At least I know I'll be getting a good quality product.

Straps fail entirely too easily when new.
The straps fail on brand new mask entirely too regularly when first slipping one on. It's like there is not enough material being pressed down when they're assembled/sealed. Out of 50, we have about 20 remaining but about 6-8 have failed when first being fitted. I have resorted to a prophylactic repair using a bit of craft glue. Basically, using a toothpick, I'm spot welding them (with the white glue) ahead of time. Honestly? A bit of a pain I shouldn't have to engage in, but here we are. Suspecting it's a batch problem, I didn't attempt to return them. Heads up.

Defective masks
I saw the reviews saying the straps were flimsy but thought I would just be extra careful. They are comfortable and breathable, but 90 minutes into a flight both my and my wife’s masks failed - just minutes apart. The straps just suddenly popped off where it attaches to the side of the mask without provocation. Could be one star, but giving 2nd star for comfort and breathability. Carry extra or some safety pins to repair….

Do not purchase this product!
The straps pop off while putting on or soon after. I had 3 pop off within 5 minutes. I like the design but the straps are no good. AND they are NOT eligible for a refund.

Probably the best mask of many I’ve tried.
Excellent mask. Great coverage, seal and breathability. NIOSH certified. There are some online video reviews in which this mask was professionally tested - it received the highest scores for filtration and breathability. The nose wire could be better but it works. The duckbill design is ugly but duckbills are the most roomy and comfortable. Better than the popular Aura mask. Highly recommend

Elastic snapped on almost every mask.
I received 2 boxes of 35 instead of 1 box of 50. It was nice to receive more masks than I ordered. However, both boxes seemed to be full of masks with brittle elastic. They snapped incredibly frequently. I have purchased Gerson masks before from another source and they worked decently. Sadly, that was not the case with this purchase.

Too small. Models in the pictures are small people. Does not fit a 5’11 fat dude’s head.

My favorite masks
I have a very large head so ear loops hurt my ears and other head straps get pushed to their limit and squeeze me. These masks are super comfortable. They are soft and flexible but still feel like they make a good seal around the face. They are SO MUCH more comfortable on me than traditional N95's and KN95's, and better than any others I've tried (second place is probably the usual KF94s). I have a ton of other masks and I can't really stand wearing others anymore.Cons:The duckbill design looks pretty silly. I really feel like a duck. But a comfortable duck. They are individually wrapped, which might be a pro for some but seems like a waste to me.When wearing them for multiple days and tossing them in pockets and bags, I've had the nose thing come out and the straps break. Never had them break on the first day, and they often do hold up for multiple days, so overall not bad for disposable masks.
