Georgia Boot Romeo SuperLyte slip-on EH work shoe

A safety toe is impact and compression protection, not electrical isolation. ASTM F2413 treats them as separate ratings: only a boot carrying the EH mark is tested for secondary protection against open electrical circuits, and that protection is voided by wet soles, worn outsoles or embedded metal. Work on or near energised parts is controlled by a zero-energy state and the NFPA 70E arc-flash program first; footwear is the last layer, never the plan.

The Georgia Boot Romeo SuperLyte is a featherweight leather romeo slip-on built to the ASTM F2892 soft-toe electrical-hazard standard. Twin-gore panels let you step in and out without laces, and the EH rating gives you secondary shock protection in a shoe-height silhouette. It is the Georgia to buy when you want easy-on-easy-off convenience and EH resistance without a safety cap. Need an impact toe? Move to an F2413 EH safety-toe boot instead.

The Romeo SuperLyte is a soft-toe shoe, so it carries no steel, alloy, or composite cap and no ASTM F2413 impact rating. Shop techs, electricians on light-duty days, and warehouse crews who value quick changeovers are the target buyer.

Electrical-hazard footwear is rated under two different ASTM specifications, and they are not interchangeable. ASTM F2413 EH covers safety-toe boots (steel, alloy, or composite cap) that also carry secondary electrical-hazard protection. ASTM F2892 is the parallel standard for soft-toe occupational footwear that carries the same EH resistance without an impact cap. This boot is built to the F2892 soft-toe EH standard, so it protects against incidental contact with live circuits but has no impact or compression toe rating.

Either way, an EH rating is secondary protection. It is designed to reduce the risk of a shock from incidental contact with an energized conductor of up to 600 volts under dry conditions β€” it is not primary electrical PPE and does not replace de-energizing, lockout/tagout, insulated tools, or arc-rated gear. If you need a safety cap plus EH, choose an F2413 EH boot instead; browse the electrical-hazard boots collection or the best electrical-hazard work boots guide.

Who should buy it, and how to size

The Romeo SuperLyte fits shop electricians, maintenance techs, and warehouse crews who want an EH-rated shoe they can pull on and off without bending down, and who are not exposed to dropped-object hazards. Order your normal shoe size in a medium (D) width; the SuperLyte runs true to size. If you like a roomy toe box or wear a cushioned aftermarket insole, size up a half. A fresh insole from the work boot insoles collection and a pair of work socks will sharpen the fit. Keep the leather looking right with a conditioner from the boot care collection.

Before you decide, cross-shop the two other soft-toe EH options we cover: the Ariat Longview Shock Shield if you want a tall waterproof boot, and the Georgia Boot Carbon Flex Wedge Chelsea if you prefer a pull-on wedge. All three live in the electrical-hazard boots collection.

How the Romeo SuperLyte compares

Shoe Style Toe EH standard Best for
Georgia Romeo SuperLyte Romeo slip-on Soft F2892 Fast changeovers, light weight
Georgia Carbon Flex Wedge Chelsea Chelsea Soft F2892 Wedge sole, pull-on
Ariat Longview Shock Shield 8-in boot Soft F2892 Waterproof, ankle coverage

Choose the Romeo SuperLyte over the Georgia Carbon Flex Wedge Chelsea when you want the lightest possible EH shoe with romeo entry; choose the Carbon Flex when you want a wedge outsole. If you need waterproofing or ankle height, the Ariat Longview is the pick. Not sure whether soft-toe EH is enough for your role? Read the safety-toe decision pillar.
