Allegro 9200 Supplied-Air Respirator System Overview

The Allegro 9200 supplied-air respirator system is a continuous-flow airline respirator driven by an ambient-air pump. A quarter-horsepower blower is placed in clean, Grade D breathable air and pushes that air through a reinforced breathing hose to a full mask, half mask, or bib hood, so the worker breathes air from a clean location rather than filtering the work area.

As the Allegro 9200 series, this Allegro ambient air pump respirator is a versatile Allegro airline respirator. As a supplied-air respirator system it comes in one-worker and two-worker setups with 50 or 100 foot hoses and full-mask, half-mask, single-bib, or double-bib options, so this Allegro SAR system scales to the crew and reach you need.

Unlike a filtering respirator, a supplied-air system relocates the air intake to clean air; it does not filter the work atmosphere. It differs from a powered air-purifying respirator such as the Allegro EZ Air Deluxe PAPR or the Allegro EZ Air Max PAPR, which filter ambient air. Browse it in respiratory protection and full-face mask respirators.

What This System Is Built For

Use case Fit Buyer guidance
Contaminant near a clean-air source Purpose-built Pump sits in clean Grade D air; hose runs to the mask.
One or two workers Strong Pick the one- or two-worker configuration.
Mask or hood preference Strong Full mask, half mask, single-bib, or double-bib hood.
Longer reach Strong 50 ft standard or 100 ft hose options.
Oxygen-poor or emergency air Not suitable Continuous flow, non-IDLH; needs pressure-demand or air tank.

A supplied-air respirator only protects when the air source and setup are right. This is a continuous-flow system approved for atmospheres that are not immediately dangerous; it is not for IDLH or oxygen-deficient atmospheres, which require a pressure-demand supplied-air respirator with an auxiliary escape bottle or a self-contained SCBA. The pump draws ambient air, so it must sit in clean, Grade D breathable air well away from engine exhaust or any carbon monoxide source, and a breathing-air carbon monoxide monitor on the intake is strongly recommended. Confirm the assigned protection factor for your mask or hood, verify airflow before use, keep the hose within its length and pressure limits, and run the system within a written program under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. Learn more in our OSHA 1910.134 respiratory protection guide and the OSHA carbon monoxide monitoring guide.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Breathes clean Grade D air from a remote intake
  • One- or two-worker and 50 or 100 ft hose options
  • Full-mask, half-mask, or bib-hood choices
  • No filter to load in heavy contaminant work
  • Flow controls set airflow within the approved range
Cons
  • Continuous flow; not for immediately dangerous air
  • Pump must sit in clean Grade D air
  • Carbon monoxide monitor recommended, sold separately
  • Hose tethers the worker to the pump

How It Compares

Supplied-air and powered air-purifying respirators solve different problems. Weigh them before ordering:

Option Air source Filters? Best for
Allegro 9200 SAR (this page) Ambient-air pump, clean air No; supplies air Heavy contaminant near clean air
Allegro EZ Air Deluxe PAPR Belt blower + HEPA filter Yes; particulate Mobile welding-fume work
Allegro EZ Air Max PAPR Belt blower + filter Yes; particulate Higher-airflow filtered work

Choose the 9200 supplied-air system when you have a clean-air source and want to breathe supplied air, or a PAPR like the EZ Air Deluxe or EZ Air Max for mobile, filtered protection. See our respiratory protection complete guide, the OSHA carbon monoxide monitoring guide, and the best industrial CO monitor guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Allegro 9200 supplied-air respirator system?

It is a continuous-flow airline respirator driven by an ambient-air pump. A quarter-horsepower blower placed in clean, Grade D air pushes breathing air through a hose to a mask or hood, so the worker breathes from a clean location rather than filtering the work area.

How is it different from a PAPR?

A PAPR filters the surrounding air through a cartridge or filter, while this supplied-air system delivers air from a clean remote location through a hose. The 9200 does not filter contaminants; it relocates the air intake to clean, Grade D air away from the hazard.

What configurations does the 9200 series offer?

The series comes in one-worker and two-worker setups with 50 or 100 foot hoses, and full-mask, half-mask, single-bib hood, or double-bib hood options. Confirm the exact configuration on the listing, since the mask or hood and hose length vary by model.

What kind of air does the pump need?

The blower must sit in clean, Grade D breathable air as defined by OSHA, positioned well away from the contaminant, exhaust, or any carbon monoxide source. The quality of the air the worker breathes depends entirely on where you place the pump intake.

Do I need a carbon monoxide monitor?

It is strongly recommended. Because the pump draws ambient air, carbon monoxide at the intake would be delivered to the worker. A dedicated breathing-air carbon monoxide monitor, sold separately, alerts you when carbon monoxide rises above the set level.

Can I use it in an oxygen-poor or emergency atmosphere?

No. It is a continuous-flow supplied-air respirator approved for atmospheres that are not immediately dangerous. Oxygen-poor or immediately dangerous atmospheres require a pressure-demand supplied-air respirator with escape or a self-contained air-tank apparatus.

What assigned protection factor does it provide?

The assigned protection factor depends on the facepiece or hood you run, so a half mask, full mask, and hood are not the same. Confirm the OSHA assigned protection factor for your specific configuration against the Allegro documentation and your program.

How long is the breathing hose?

The 9200 series uses a 50 foot hose and the 9210 models use a 100 foot hose, both reinforced for durability. Stay within the manufacturer's maximum hose length and pressure so airflow to the mask remains within the approved range.

What maintains airflow to the mask?

The system includes flow controls so each worker can set airflow within the approved range. Verify airflow before use, keep the hose free of kinks and damage, and respond to any drop in airflow right away, since protection depends on adequate air.

Is it NIOSH approved?

Yes. The 9200 series is NIOSH approved for continuous-flow supplied-air use in atmospheres that are not immediately dangerous. Use it only within its NIOSH approval, the correct components, and a written respiratory protection program.

Do I need a written respiratory program?

Yes. Supplied-air respirators are used within a written respiratory protection program under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, including training, medical evaluation, fit testing where required, and maintenance. Follow the Allegro manual for setup, use, and inspection.

How do I maintain the system?

Inspect the pump, hose, fittings, flow controls, and mask or hood before each use, keep the pump intake in clean air, verify airflow, and monitor for carbon monoxide. Follow the Allegro manual for filter changes on the pump, hose limits, and part numbers.

Works great
We bought this so we can raptor line my daughter's jeep. This worked great to keep a supply of fresh air. We bought extra hose and ran it from inside the house.

Mediocre
The mask does seal but is very uncomfortable and the air hose is extremely thick and difficult to maneuver. A flexzilla air hose would have been a much better option. I’m going to have to modify this unit for mobile paint booth work. I feel it’s overpriced and worth about $600.

Ambiguous information provided on product.
Seems like a nice product, however, the still image shows a single connector while the video shows a "y' connector so that two people could use this at the same time. The literature that came with the product also shows a "y". I would have contacted the seller about this before buying, but the unsual "contact seller" tab wasn't there. Please send me the "y" connector or update your video and literature to show that this comes with a single connector and can be only used by one person.
