A filter is only part of a respirator, and it only removes what it is rated for. This P95 captures particulate, but it does not protect against gases or vapors, and it does not add oxygen. An air-purifying respirator cannot be used in an oxygen-deficient or IDLH atmosphere; those require a supplied-air respirator or a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Use the filter only on a fit-tested Secure Click HF-800 or FF-800 facepiece, with a medical clearance and a clean-shaven seal, within an OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 respiratory-protection program, and change filters on schedule or when breathing gets harder.
