The TICONN 1491 is an ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 Class 3 hi-vis safety sweatshirt hoodie in fluorescent yellow-green, pairing the highest visibility class β€” a 1,240-square-inch fluorescent-background and 310-square-inch retroreflective-tape minimum β€” with sweatshirt-weight comfort and an integrated hood at a value price that makes bulk crew outfitting practical.

Why the TICONN 1491 makes Class 3 crew outfitting practical

Outfitting a whole crew in the highest visibility class β€” and replacing worn garments promptly to stay compliant β€” comes down to cost per unit. The 1491 is built for that: a Class 3 sweatshirt hoodie that meets the same ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 standard required on federally funded highway and road work, with the full 1,240 square inches of fluorescent yellow-green background and 310 square inches of retroreflective tape, at a value price that lets employers kit out entire teams. Sweatshirt-weight construction and an integrated hood add all-season comfort and head-and-neck coverage. As hi-vis hoodies go, this is the value Class 3 crew pick, and the best hi-vis hoodies guide and ANSI 107 guide cover how to match garment to the work zone. It keeps crews warm, hooded, and seen without straining the budget.

Safety first: the 1491 is high-visibility apparel for being seen in traffic and low light β€” it is not protective clothing rated for a chemical splash hazard, cut, flame, or arc. For those hazards, wear the appropriate rated PPE, including chemical-resistant gear for chemicals; the sweatshirt fabric adds warmth, not flame or arc protection. Keep the reflective striping on the outermost layer and unobstructed by the hood or bags, and confirm Class 3 fits your zone with the when-do-you-need-hi-vis guide. Retire the hoodie once the fluorescent fabric fades or the tape cracks.

What the TICONN 1491 listing documents

From the published specs: ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 Class 3 certification in fluorescent yellow-green; a sweatshirt-weight construction for all-season comfort; an integrated hood and front pocket; and the Class 3 minimums of 1,240 square inches of background and 310 square inches of retroreflective tape. These are true class 3 hi-vis hoodie credentials and a genuine hi-vis safety sweatshirt β€” a value hi-vis hoodie framed for large-scale crew procurement.

How the TICONN 1491 compares to other hi-vis

For a cold-weather fleece-lined full-zip TICONN hoodie, the TICONN 1903; for another fleece TICONN hooded sweatshirt, the TICONN 1485; for a Class 3 quilted bomber jacket, the GloWear 8377; for a Class 3 long-sleeve shirt, the GloWear 8371BK; for a Class 3 short-sleeve shirt, the GloWear 8367; and for a Class 3 surveyor vest, the GloWear 8346Z. The complete hi-vis apparel guide covers the range.

Choosing the right hi-vis garment

Match Class, weight, and layering to the work zone and season. For garment families, browse the safety vests, high-visibility, and hi-vis shirts collections; for outerwear and wet weather, the hi-vis jackets and hi-vis rainwear collections and the hi-vis jackets guide; and for the class decision, the Class 3 vests collection and the hi-vis vests guide.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The 1491 suits highway construction, warehouse, and outdoor crews who need Class 3 visibility with sweatshirt comfort across mild-cold shifts β€” and employers outfitting large teams on a budget. Wear it with the striping exposed, size it correctly to keep the reflective geometry in place, and retire it when the material fades. For crew orders, quantity purchasing runs through a free Amazon Business account β€” volume pricing, PO numbers at checkout, and tax-exempt eligibility for qualifying organizations, with the walkthrough linked in our footer.

What "Class 3" actually means

High-visibility apparel is specified by ANSI/ISEA 107, and the class number is not a quality ranking β€” it is a measured area of background and retroreflective material, matched to how fast traffic moves and how complex the background is. Class 2 suits roadway work under about 50 mph; Class 3 requires substantially more material and coverage of the arms, which is why a Class 3 garment is a sleeved jacket or sweatshirt rather than a vest.

For federal-aid highway work, 23 CFR Part 634 requires high-visibility apparel meeting ANSI/ISEA 107 for anyone working within the right-of-way. On other sites, 29 CFR 1926.201 covers flagger visibility.

Two practical limits. Retroreflectivity degrades with laundering and abrasion, so a faded garment can fall out of class long before it looks worn out β€” check the care label for the rated wash count. And hi-vis is conspicuity only: it is not flame-resistant unless it separately carries an arc or FR rating.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TICONN 1491?

An ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 Class 3 hi-vis safety sweatshirt hoodie in fluorescent yellow-green. It pairs the highest visibility class with sweatshirt-weight comfort and an integrated hood at a value price for bulk crew outfitting.

What does Class 3 mean here?

Class 3 is the highest ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 visibility level for roadway and pedestrian workers, requiring a minimum of 1,240 square inches of fluorescent background material and 310 square inches of retroreflective tape, as the listing states.

What weight is it?

The listing states a sweatshirt-weight construction for all-season comfort and temperature regulation - warmer than a shirt but lighter than a fleece-lined jacket, suitable as a standalone layer in mild cold or a mid-layer in deeper cold.

Does the hood affect visibility compliance?

The listing states the garment meets the Class 3 minimums of 1,240 square inches of fluorescent background and 310 square inches of retroreflective tape; keep the hood and any layers from covering the reflective striping in use.

Is this chemical or cut protective clothing?

No - the 1491 is high-visibility apparel for being seen, not rated for a chemical splash hazard or cut protection. Use chemical-resistant or cut-rated PPE for those hazards.

How does it differ from the TICONN 1903?

The 1491 is a sweatshirt-weight pullover-style hoodie; the 1903 is a fleece-lined full-zip hoodie for colder conditions. Choose the 1491 for milder weather and value, the 1903 for cold-weather warmth and a full-zip closure.

Why is the value price useful?

A lower cost lets employers outfit entire crews, replace worn garments promptly, and maintain continuous Class 3 compliance across large workforces - the listing frames it for large-scale safety program procurement.

What color is it?

The listing states fluorescent yellow-green background material, providing daytime conspicuity while the retroreflective tape returns light at night.

What work is it for?

Road construction, warehouse, and outdoor crews who need Class 3 visibility with sweatshirt comfort across mild-cold and all-season conditions.

What sizes are available?

Confirm the size and fit options on the product listing; a properly fitted hoodie keeps the reflective geometry positioned for its rated visibility.

High-quality PPEβ€”warm, visible, and holds up to tough work
This hoodie is excellent for cold weather on the job site. The material is a heavy, thick fleece that cuts the wind and keeps you warm throughout the shift. The reflective striping is highly durable and doesn't crack or peel off after going through the wash. It fully meets ANSI Class 3 standards, so there are no issues with safety compliance. The front zipper is heavy-duty and doesn't bind up. If you need reliable, rugged high-vis gear for winter, this is a solid investment.

Jacket is comfortable, well-made, and extremely visible
Jacket is comfortable, well-made, and extremely visible. The bright color and reflective striping really stand out, even in low-light conditions. The hoodie jacket itself is warm without being bulky, making it easy to move and work in. The fit is true to size, and the material feels durable enough to handle regular wear. I also like that it looks and feels like a normal jacket/ hoodie while still providing high-visibility protection. Overall, it’s a great balance of comfort, safety, and qualityβ€”definitely worth the purchase.

Awesome class 3 hoodie
I really needed something to wear at work that was in-between a lightweight T and my big snow jacket. This fit the bill perfectly. Very reflective, very comfortable. Great for most days where it's not to hot or to cold. Good pockets.

Minor problems, major solution!
Hoodie came with a small hole in the pocket, easily stitched. Fits perfectly, very reflective, and it keeps the cold out perfectly. Love it, very durable. Had it snag on a nail at work and no rips or tears! Overall love it, keeps my radio right next to me, pockets are a good fit, and the hoodie is perfect for under my helmet to keep my hair out of my eyes!

Great HI Vis jacket especially for the price!!!
For the price you can't beat it!!! Live in the pacific NW and it held up well in rain keeping me dry. I dont know that I'd want to use it as a raincoat but didn't get wet working construction outside. Very warm so definitely for cooler weather. It still looks new even after wearing it for most the winter.

Great for flagging
I work as a Flagger in construction, and this has been really helpful on site. We start early in the morning, so I appreciate how warm it is. Not only that, but it’s definitely rain resistant (not waterproof, but in a light rain my shirt stayed dry). The little radio loops are also wicked useful. I think the only improvement I’d suggest is deepening the hood (it’s too shallow to use under a hard hat, and won’t fit over one). I’ve convinced some of my coworkers to purchase this too, since it’s a decent value.

Decent enough.
It's alright for the price. Front pockets are really small and can only fit my hands, unfortunately, but otherwise okay.
