The Platform Truck Push Cart Dolly, Foldable Hand Truck with 1000LB Weight Capacity, 36x24 is one of our picks for the utility cart lineup. Everything below comes straight from the manufacturer's published listing - specs, capacities, and dimensions are theirs, not ours.
A service cart turns repeated hand-carries into one rolling trip. Check shelf capacity and wheel type against your floors - non-marking casters for finished floors, larger wheels for thresholds and rough concrete. For loads past a cart's rating, move up to a hand truck or pallet jack.
Key details, quoted from the manufacturer's published listing:

What to check before you buy
- Distributed capacity, not shelf capacity
- Cart ratings are usually the total across all shelves with the load spread evenly. Concentrating weight on one shelf or one corner is what bends frames.
- Caster size against the floor
- Small casters are fine on smooth sealed concrete and terrible over cracks, cords and thresholds. Larger diameter wheels roll over obstacles that stop small ones dead.
- Shelf clearance
- Measure the tallest thing you actually move. Fixed-shelf carts are cheaper; adjustable shelves cost more but survive a change of use.
- Brakes
- A cart that will be loaded while stationary, or used on any slope, needs locking casters. Two locking casters is the usual minimum.

Frequently asked questions
How much weight can a utility cart carry?
Use the manufacturer rating as a ceiling and assume it means an evenly distributed load. Point loads and off-center loading reduce the usable figure substantially.
What cart material should I choose?
Plastic resists corrosion and chemicals and is easy to wash down. Steel takes more abuse and higher loads but can rust where the coating is chipped. Aluminum splits the difference at higher cost.
Do I need locking casters?
Yes for any cart loaded while parked, used on a slope, or working near a walkway. An unbraked loaded cart on a slight incline is a real struck-by hazard.
What is an ergonomic reason to use a cart?
It converts carrying into pushing. Push and pull forces are generally far easier on the back than carrying the same load, provided the cart rolls freely and the handle is at a workable height.
Why do my cart wheels stick?
Usually debris wound into the swivel or axle, or a caster rated for lighter duty than the load it is carrying. Both get worse over time and both make the cart harder and less safe to steer.
Where do the specifications on this page come from?
They are taken from the manufacturer's published listing. WC Safety does not laboratory-test products, and nothing is claimed here that the manufacturer does not state.
Does WC Safety sell this product?
No. WC Safety is an independent review site and an Amazon Associate. Purchases happen on Amazon, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.
How was the rating on this page determined?
