EDITORIAL REVIEW: 4.6/5 — WC Safety Review of the Uvex Seismic, a foam-lined sealed safety glass for dusty work.
Editorial assessment by the WC Safety Editorial Team, based on published Uvex specifications and category fit. We did not laboratory-test this product.

The Uvex Seismic is a foam-lined sealed safety glass that sits between open safety glasses and full chemical goggles, using a peripheral foam gasket to block fine dust and incidental splash from entering the eye from the sides and top, in a wraparound nylon frame carrying ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 impact certification — not a full hard-shell chemical goggle.

Why the Uvex Seismic bridges glasses and goggles

Open safety glasses leave a gap at the sides and top where grinding dust, wood particles, and light mist get in; a full hard-shell goggle seals it but feels bulky for all-day wear. The Seismic bridges the two: a wraparound nylon frame with a soft foam gasket bonded to the inner perimeter that contacts the brow, temples, and cheek, sealing against fine dust and incidental splash without the rigid shell of a traditional goggle. It carries ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 impact certification and comes in eight configurations. As safety glasses go, this is the foam-sealed dust pick, and the best safety glasses guide and the ANSI Z87.1 guide explain the markings. It seals out dust without goggle bulk.

Safety first: the Seismic blocks fine dust and incidental splash, but it is not a hard-shell barrier for a full chemical splash hazard. For sustained liquid or chemical splash, wear D3-rated splash goggles or a face shield — the Seismic is a step up from open glasses, not a replacement for a sealed goggle. Confirm the Z87 marking on the listing, keep the foam gasket clean, and use the shade 1.2 variant only for light soldering, not welding-arc work. See the glasses vs goggles guide.

What the Uvex Seismic listing documents

From the published specs: an ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 wraparound safety glass; a bonded foam gasket sealing the brow, temples, and cheek; positioning between open glasses and full goggles; and eight configurations including clear, anti-fog, Dura-Streme bonded anti-fog, green shade 1.2, amber anti-fog, and a bifocal option across black and blue frames. These are true foam-lined safety glasses and sealed safety glasses credentials in a dust safety glasses frame. Confirm the variant and Z87 marking on the listing.

How the Uvex Seismic compares to other eye protection

For an open wraparound glass, the Uvex Genesis; for a Z87+ and ballistic frame, the Pyramex Venture II; for a frameless budget wrap, the Pyramex Ztek; for a full sealed splash goggle, the DeWalt DPG82 Concealer; and for the splash decision, the glasses vs face shields guide. The safety glasses buyer's guide covers the range.

Choosing the right lens and eye protection

Match the seal, tint, and coating to the dust and light in the task. Browse the eye protection and anti-fog safety glasses collections; for tint choices, the clear vs smoke guide and the amber vs clear guide; and for coatings, the anti-fog guide and the anti-fog vs anti-scratch guide.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The Seismic suits woodworking, grinding, and light-mist trades that need dust sealing without full goggles — see the woodworking eyewear guide and the manufacturing eyewear guide; for the sealed-vs-open call, the indoor-outdoor vs clear guide. Confirm the variant on the listing and retire the glasses when the lens or foam is worn.
