Nice Climbing Helmet

This climbing hard hat is a nice one. The hat carries the requisite ANSI certifications, for safety departments' compliance. The suspension system was adequately adjustable, and comfortable, with the exception that is any chin strap, no matter how practical they are in climbing helmets (and they are.) Overall, it's a very nice design, and I recommend it to all climbers.

Not as comfortable

Didn't realize that this is a styrofoam lined hard hat. More like a motorcycle helmet. While it does offer head size adjustments, they are not as good as my normal Jackson helmet. The fit is too small to properly fit my head, feels like I am wearing a kids hat. The normal suspension headgear is much more comfortable.Unless you are required to get a class 2 hard hat, skip this one. Not that impressed. My regular Jackson hard hat is much more comfortable and fits better. It is lighter too. The foam liner adds mass, really noticable compared to without it.The sweat band on mine was falling off on one side when I opened the box. Took a good bid of fiddling around with it. It might stay now.

The Jackson Safety team decided that they were going to “jump on out there” {my father-in law’s favorite phase when one just must reach for something} and produce a sensational product. The final product suggests that someone sweated the details and kept working on the concept until they got it right.The Jackson Safety folks began with the criterion of making a TYPE II hard hat. [There are two broad types of hard hats – TYPE I and TYPE II. The TYPE II hard hats are designed to reduce forces from top impacts as well as lateral impacts—front, back, and sides. TYPE I hard hats are designed to reduce top impacts. What this means is that the Jackson Safety CH-2-300 hard hat met the minimum criteria established by the American National Standards (ANSI) and the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) and therefore approved by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).The Jackson Safety CH-2-300 hard hat also meets my comfort standard. There is a Goldilocks fit on my head – the hard hat does not fit too deep or too high on my head. Good, comfortable fit

This fits comfortably, particularly on my significant melon, is easily adjustable for size, and stays well. There's good airflow, and the strap stays in place, with no apparent slipping. It has an ample crush layer, and it appears to adhere to all the standard Type 2 specifications.The chin strap appears to be covered in some sort of faux leather, which makes it a bit difficult to adjust, though I'm sure this assists with keeping it in place.

Jackson Safety Type 2 Hard Hat

This is a very sharp looking hard hat that’s really comfortable. It’s got very nice soft straps on the part that touches under your chin so it should be more comfortable than your basic nylon strap. I can attest that it can definitely take a really good whack and you barely feel it. Make sure to measure your head so you know the exact size you need because the fit is the most important part of a hard had purchase after efficacy. If you have to wear it all day you don’t want to fight with it and this one looks good and protects well. It’s nice and light weight and has some nice padding. You can tell there is some quality in the design. I can definitely recommend this if you need a hard hat.

Really long chin strap

The Jackson Safety CH-2-400V Type 2 Hard Hat is comfortable on my head, but the chin strap is really long and the extra dangles down when I am wearing the hard hat with the straps cinched up. Because there isn't anything to attach the excess strap two, I've downgraded my review by 1 star, so 4 stars from me and overall recommend.

Excellent Type 2 Hardhat

This is a really nice Type 2 hardhat - super easy to adjust, even when wearing it with an easy to reach knob at the back of the hat. The padded suspension system is very comfortable, and even the chin strap has some padding. This is a big upgrade if you're used to cheap hardhats that just have nylon webbing. I like the venting as I tend to run hot and the matte finish is nice as I don't get glare off of other guys hardhats.Some have complained that the padding feels bulky, but they're likely used to using a type 1 hat which will only protect you from a blow to the top of the head, whereas a type 2 hardhat will also protect you from a lateral impact resulting from a blow which may be received off-center, from the side, or to the top of the head. If you need the extra protection of a type 2 hardhat, this is an excellent choice.

Great quality and visibility

This is a really nice quality hard hat that I have used when managing a tree-trimming crew. It has the safety features I need and is easy to adjust. However, the adjustment for head circumference is a bit limited without changing out the internals (which is certainly possible by design). As a result, it rides high on my head, without any adjustment that can bring it lower. This creates a bit of an imbalance, making it less comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I don't believe it causes any safety issue and it is fine for the amount of time I need it, but I may look into changing out the innards for something that will allow it to ride lower. Obviously, everyone's head shape is different, so your mileage may vary.
