GripProtect Ultra Heavy Duty Latex Exam Gloves Overview

GripProtect Ultra heavy duty latex exam gloves are powder-free, 8-mil examination gloves made from natural rubber latex for automotive, industrial, janitorial, and demanding medical work. At 8 mil they are roughly double the thickness of standard 3-5 mil exam latex, so these 8 mil latex gloves resist punctures and tears where a thin glove would fail, while a textured surface grips tools and slick parts.

This listing is the Small, sold in a 50-count box β€” heavy gloves often pack 50 rather than 100. As powder-free latex exam gloves, they keep cornstarch off parts, samples, and skin, and as textured latex exam gloves they hold onto oily tools and components. They are exam-grade quality, so they double as industrial latex exam gloves for clinics and labs that want a tougher glove.

The GripProtect Ultra gloves line is the heavy hitter among exam latex. For standard-weight clinical latex, compare the McKesson Confiderm or Dynarex Safe-Touch; for a premium 5.5-mil glove, the Adenna Platinum; and for an even thicker 14-mil glove, the Adenna Hero. See the full range in our latex gloves collection, and if anyone involved is latex-sensitive, switch to heavy nitrile gloves instead.

What GripProtect Ultra Heavy Latex Gloves Are Built For

Use case Fit Buyer guidance
Automotive and mechanical work Excellent 8-mil thickness and texture grip oily tools and resist tearing on parts.
Janitorial and heavy handling Excellent Durable enough for repeat use where thin exam latex fails.
Demanding medical and lab tasks Good Exam-grade and powder-free; a tougher glove for rough clinical handling.
Latex-allergic users Avoid Use a heavy latex-free nitrile glove in latex-restricted areas.
Solvent, fuel, or chemical handling Limited Even at 8 mil, latex is not chemical-rated; use chemical-resistant gloves.
Fine dexterity / sterile work Not ideal 8 mil trades some feel for toughness; for fine or sterile work use a thinner or sterile glove.

Safety note: these are natural rubber latex gloves. A Type I latex allergy can cause serious reactions, so never use latex on or near a latex-allergic worker, and follow your facility's latex-safety policy. If allergy status is unknown or anyone in the area is sensitive, default to a heavy latex-free nitrile glove. These are single-use PPE β€” even an 8-mil glove is not a substitute for a chemical-resistant glove with solvents or fuels.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Heavy 8-mil build β€” far more puncture- and tear-resistant than standard exam latex
  • Textured surface grips oily tools and slick parts
  • Powder-free β€” no cornstarch on parts, samples, or skin
  • Exam-grade quality doubles for tough clinical handling
  • Natural latex fit and feel despite the heavier gauge
  • Single-use; great for automotive and janitorial work
Cons
  • Natural latex β€” unsafe for latex-allergic users; choose heavy nitrile instead
  • 8 mil trades some tactile sensitivity for toughness
  • Not chemical-rated for solvents or fuels despite the thickness
  • Non-sterile; this listing is a single size (Small)

Heavy Latex vs Nitrile vs Vinyl: How to Choose

For heavy-duty disposable work the material choice comes down to latex sensitivity, chemical exposure, and feel. GripProtect Ultra is the heavy latex pick; the table shows where each material wins.

Material Strengths Best for
Heavy latex (GripProtect Ultra, this glove) Best fit and feel at a heavy gauge Automotive and industrial work with no latex allergy concern
Heavy nitrile Latex-free, more chemical- and puncture-resistant Latex-allergic users, solvents, and fuels
Vinyl Lowest cost, latex-free Short, low-risk, light-duty tasks

If you need a latex-free heavy glove, nitrile adds chemical and puncture resistance β€” see our best heavy-duty nitrile gloves guide. For the full breakdown, read nitrile vs latex gloves, the latex vs nitrile vs vinyl reference, and our glove thickness guide. For other latex options, see the SAS Dyna Grip and Grease Monkey latex gloves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes GripProtect Ultra a heavy duty latex exam glove?

Its 8-mil thickness. That is roughly double a standard 3-5 mil exam glove, so it resists punctures and tears far better for automotive, industrial, and demanding medical tasks, while a textured surface grips tools and parts. It is still exam-grade quality.

How thick are GripProtect Ultra latex gloves?

They are 8 mil, a heavy exam weight well above the 3-5 mil of standard latex. The extra thickness trades a little tactile sensitivity for durability, which suits mechanic, janitorial, and heavy handling work. See our glove thickness guide to compare mil ratings.

Are GripProtect Ultra gloves powder-free?

Yes. They are powder-free, so there is no cornstarch residue on parts, samples, surfaces, or skin, and less airborne powder that can carry latex proteins. Powder-free is the standard for both exam and clean industrial use.

What are these heavy latex gloves good for?

The 8-mil build suits automotive and mechanical work, janitorial tasks, parts handling, and demanding medical or lab use where a thin glove would tear. The textured surface helps grip oily or slick tools and components.

What size and pack do these come in?

This listing is Small, sold in a 50-count box (heavy gloves often pack 50 rather than 100). Select your size above if more are shown, and use our glove size chart to measure for a secure fit.

Do these gloves contain latex, and who should avoid them?

Yes, they are natural rubber latex. Anyone with an allergy or sensitivity to natural rubber should not use them and should choose a heavy nitrile glove instead, which is latex-free. Default to nitrile in any latex-restricted area.

Are these textured for grip on tools?

Yes, the surface is textured, which improves grip on tools, parts, and slick or oily items, the kind of grip mechanics and industrial users need. Texture plus 8-mil thickness is the heavy-duty combination.

Are GripProtect Ultra gloves chemical-resistant?

Natural latex handles many water-based solutions and light automotive contact, but even at 8 mil it is not a substitute for a dedicated chemical-resistant glove with solvents, fuels, oils, or harsh chemicals. For chemical work, see our chemical-resistant gloves.

Are GripProtect Ultra gloves sterile?

No. They are non-sterile examination gloves. They are not packaged sterile and are not surgical gloves, so do not use them for sterile procedures that require sterile-packed gloves.

Should I choose heavy latex or heavy nitrile gloves?

Heavy latex like this gives the best fit and feel when no one involved is latex-sensitive; heavy nitrile is latex-free and more chemical-resistant, which many shops prefer for solvents and fuels. Compare materials in our nitrile vs latex vs vinyl reference.

How does GripProtect Ultra compare to your other latex exam gloves?

GripProtect Ultra is the heavy 8-mil glove in the lineup. The McKesson Confiderm and Dynarex Safe-Touch are standard-weight clinical latex, and the Adenna Platinum is a premium 5.5-mil glove. For an even thicker option, the Adenna Hero is 14 mil. Browse the latex gloves collection.

Is GripProtect Ultra good for automotive and mechanic work?

Yes. The 8-mil thickness and textured grip make it a strong fit for automotive and mechanical tasks where thin gloves tear, as long as no one involved has a latex sensitivity. For heavy chemical or fuel contact, step up to a chemical-resistant glove.

Perfect glove
These are just the right thickness for about everything. My other gloves were so thin they broke through with any work I did. I bought them for around the house chores and not for medical reasons. These are tough enough for those tasks. LOVE THEM and will buy them again.

Great gloves
I have had thinner gloves that are hard to put on and tear easily but these, at 8 mils thick, are great. I am restoring an old pickup and frequently need to work with cleaning solvents, automotive paint primer and oil-based paints. These gloves are great. I've been through almost two boxes in the past 18 months (these projects never go quickly) and haven't torn one yet.

Great Gloves
I work as a Technician at a Dealership so I get my hands dirty often. I wanted gloves that were a lighter color so they didn't make my hands sweat too badly on super hot and humid days. I also wanted to reuse them. They can definitely be reused. I also like that they are very elastic before they rip. I catch my gloves on literally everything in tight spaces under the hood and the material just snaps back instead of tearing the whole glove. I've only ever seen small cuts or catching the tip of one of the fingers under the head of a screw I was tightening. I will say that a few pairs had some hard spots on them that were tiny, but very uncomfortable if your job is based on feeling with your hands. The gloves are still worth it. I'm here to buy a 2nd box and decided to leave a review!!!

Safe when water is unsafe!
I have eczema on my hands and can't put my hands in water. I have tried many brands of rubber gloves. They fall apart in a distressingly fast period of time. I searched for something in the disposable category and tried these hoping they would fit my needs. Because they fit so well I just put them on when I am in the kitchen and leave them on until I am sure I don't need their protection. I get my money's worth. Give them a try 100 lasts a long time.

Missed the fact that these were latex gloves.
There are strong and as thick as advertised. Feel like they should have a warning label since so many people have latex allergies.

There Durable
I have been getting these for three years. use them in restoring my cars.. The 8 mil thickness is ideal for me allowing protection yet I can still feel the texture of surfaces when sanding bondo. At 9 mil gloves I can't feel the texture..

little jewels
love the thickness, love the fit, they just slid on your hands, and last. If you get a small puncher it seems like it seals back up. I have cats and there little nails do not seem to affect them at all. Slices are little different, but still hard to slice. Just love the durability.

They are useful but not perfect
You find as you go thru the box they are all stuck together & some are torn. Poor quality control. I would shop around before purchasing . However these days we need gloves.

Not charged to correct account.
This product is for the nursing aides caring for my father at home. What l didn't like was that, instead of charging it to my dad's charge card as l had indicated, the cost was deducted from my gift card remaining balance.
