uvex stealth safety goggles — what the listing actually specifies

Overview

Impact protection and splash protection are different tests. ANSI Z87.1 rates spectacles for impact, but only a device marked for splash (D3) is evaluated against a chemical splash hazard; safety glasses with open sides do not qualify, and a face shield is a secondary protector worn over primary eye protection rather than instead of it.

HydroShield Permanent Anti-Fog: Chemically bonded hydrophilic coating integrated into the lens during manufacture not a surface film that can be worn away. Moisture spreads as a thin, optically clear film across the lens interior, eliminating the fog droplet formation that clouds vision. Performance persists through the goggle's full service life.

Standard Fit (Non-OTG): Designed for workers without prescription eyewear the standard Stealth frame geometry provides the optimal face seal and comfort for non-spectacle wearers, without the larger OTG cavity that adds unnecessary bulk for this population.

Stealth Platform Frame: Pliable thermoplastic elastomer that conforms to diverse facial contours, distributes contact pressure evenly, and maintains a complete wraparound seal without hot spots during extended wear.

Who it's for

These safety glasses are suited for use in manufacturing, construction, laboratory, and industrial environments where eye protection against impact, debris, or UV hazards is required. They meet ANSI Z87.1 standards for occupational eye and face protection.

Safety officers sourcing daily-use eyewear for crews will find these glasses appropriate for workers who require ANSI-rated protection during grinding, drilling, and general assembly tasks.

What to check before you buy

Splash, dust and fine dust are separate ratings
ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 marks D3 for splash and droplet, D4 for dust and D5 for fine dust. A goggle rated for dust is not automatically rated for chemical splash.
Direct versus indirect venting
Indirect vents keep liquid out while allowing airflow, which is the chemical-splash configuration. Direct vents breathe better but let splash through.
Seal against the face
The seal is the whole point of a goggle. Facial hair, temple arms of prescription glasses and poor strap tension all break it.
Goggles are primary protection
Unlike a face shield, goggles are primary eye protection - and are what a shield should be worn over.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need goggles instead of safety glasses?

When the hazard can reach the eye from the side or below - chemical splash, fine dust, or high-velocity particles from unpredictable directions. Goggles seal; glasses do not.

What do D3, D4 and D5 mean?

They are ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 markings: D3 for splash and droplet, D4 for dust, D5 for fine dust. Check which one your hazard requires.

Can I wear goggles over prescription glasses?

Only OTG-rated goggles. Forcing standard goggles over frames breaks the seal, which removes the protection you chose goggles for.

Direct or indirect vents?

Indirect vents for chemical splash - they block liquid while allowing air. Direct vents give more airflow and suit dust and impact where splash is not a factor.

Do goggles replace a face shield?

No, the relationship runs the other way. Goggles are primary protection; a face shield is secondary and is worn over them for grinding, splash and molten hazards.

Where do the specifications on this page come from?

Worth it's weight in gold.
I have 800 fruit trees to spray. The worse part of spraying these trees is wearing a respirator and goggles so the blast sprayers fan that is slinging chemicles does not get in your eyes and mouth. It takes about 1.5 hours to soray these trees. I got a decent respirator making it not so bad to wear. It has a bottom exit exhaust helping to not fog the goggles. But I could not find goggles that would not instantly fog up in the humid early mornings, making it so hard to see and drive the orchard rows. Letting the condensation mix with sweat and drip back into my eyes and burn. It was such a hassle. Untill I found these. They did not fog and stayed clear allowing for perfect vision and comfort while towing 3000 pounds of water/chemical mixture through uneven orchard rows behind my tractor. If I lost them today I would immediately purchase a new pair immediately.

Great
Great quality. Can still fog just like most options that are fairly closed off and don't have active ventilation like a fan.I ended up not using it much.I mostly use the more "glasses" style.

Makes life enjoyable
I have extreme case of dry eye. These googles mean I can walk, bike ride and hike and not worry about wind bothering my eyes. They fit securely and I've not noticed fogging. My only complaint is they easily scratch.

Low cost, high performance, reliable eye protection.
I've used alot of safety goggles over the years, and I tend to use them for 6-8 hours at a time. Comfort and functionality are a big deal for me. As a woodworker, these prevent any chips from entering my eyes while not cutting bloodflow on my face. The soft eye enclosure guarantees hours of comfort.Get a set of this, and wash it with mild soap and water after every use. You don't need to spend alot on safety, and this is a good example for that.

Know your face size
The mask was okay but I have a thin face so I can't really vouch for his quality other than that but I could have bought better and I did.I've already returned this and customer service on Amazon acknowledged it and returned the funding, yet I'm still being said to have not followed through with return.

Good and best price there is
My university tried to charge me 40 dollars for these but they got them on Amazon so I gotta write a review after they saved me 20 dollars. They fit good they’re easy to adjust the seal feels good I think all around they’re good especially for chemistry labs. My only issue is I had to pay for shipping but even with shipping it was 20 dollars cheaper than my university so overall I’m extremely satisfied

Literally saved my eyes in Ochem lab
I got this for my Chemistry labs. Very sturdy and definitely protected my eyes when my reaction product spilled in my Organic Chemistry I lab. I was able to see quite clearly with it except when I wore face masks. I had to seal my face mask at the nose tip to prevent fogging.

Good but not for narrow faces
These were recommended by a chemical engineer I know. They are bearable but not comfortable, which is as good as it usually gets with a lot of ppe. They stay in place without shifting around too much but are also not terribly difficult to adjust. I like that they are easily sanitized or washed. They seem pretty durable. My vision was not impeded by the goggles themselves, but there was not quite enough room for my glasses under them, and I don’t do contacts so that was an issue. While they were too small for my glasses they are also slightly too wide for my head and there is nothing that can be done to adjust that. These could be great for someone else but did not fully meet my needs.
