What the DEX Cru553 is for

Reach for the DEX Cru553 for mechanics, gardening, kitchen prep, woodworking and precision assembly. Browse the full cut-resistant gloves range, or the broader hand protection catalog, to line it up against alternatives. Not sure where to start? Our how to choose work gloves reference walks through the decision. Buyers also stock these alongside material-handling gloves and search them as cut resistant work gloves.

Which size should you order?

Sizes Small through Large. Measure across your palm and check the glove size chart β€” a cut liner should fit snug so it does not bunch at the fingertips. The how to choose cut gloves by ANSI level walk-through helps you match both the size and the protection tier to your task.

How the DEX Cru553 compares

Weigh the DEX Cru553 against HexArmor Helix 3033, Ansell HyFlex 11-518, Ansell HyFlex 11-531. Need a higher tier? Step up through the A5 cut gloves or compare tiers in the A4 vs A5 guide. For impact as well as cut, see the impact-resistant gloves line. The best cut-resistant gloves guide ranks the full field so you can see where this pick lands.

Safety note: Cut and impact gloves reduce β€” but never eliminate β€” injury risk, and they are not rated against a chemical splash hazard, solvents, or live electrical work. Match the glove to a documented hazard assessment and replace any pair once the liner is nicked or worn through.

Ordering FAQ

What ANSI cut level is the DEX Cru553?
It carries an ANSI/ISEA 105 A5 cut rating. Cut ratings describe lab cut resistance, not a cut-proof guarantee.

Is the DEX Cru553 in stock and ready to ship?
This listing is active and ships through Amazon. Select your size to see live availability and shipping speed.

What size of the DEX Cru553 should I order?
Sizes Small through Large. Measure across your palm and use the glove size chart; a cut liner should fit snug, not loose.

Can I order the DEX Cru553 by the case?
Most sizes ship by the pair or by the box; bulk and case options appear on the linked Amazon listing for each size.

What tasks is the DEX Cru553 the right pick for?
It is built for mechanics, gardening, kitchen prep, woodworking and precision assembly. Match it to your hazard assessment before relying on it.

Does the DEX Cru553 work with touchscreens?
Yes β€” the fingertips are touchscreen-capable.

How is the DEX Cru553 different from a disposable glove?
This is a reusable work glove with a knit or leather build, not a single-use disposable. It is washed and reused, not discarded after one task.

Is the DEX Cru553 heat-resistant?
No β€” it is not a heat glove. For hot surfaces, choose a dedicated heat-resistant glove.

Does the DEX Cru553 have impact protection?
No β€” it has no back-of-hand impact guards. For knuckle hazards, choose an impact-rated glove.

How do I reorder the DEX Cru553 later?
Reorder by the model number shown in the specifications above, or return to this page and select your size again.

Should I buy the DEX Cru553 or step up a cut tier?
If your task matches the rating, this is the right pick; if you handle thinner or sharper stock, step up a cut level.

Where can I read an independent review of the DEX Cru553?
See our full specification-based review, linked at the top of this page, for build notes, pros and cons, and how it compares to the rest of the lineup.

DEX FIT Level 5 Cut Resistant Gloves
These cut-resistant gloves are great quality. Thin yet tough and offer excellent protection without sacrificing dexterity. The stretchy, 3D comfort fit feels snug, and I could even use my phone with the touch-screen-compatible fingertips. Machine washable and durable too. Perfect for woodworking, kitchen prep, and projects where grip and safety matter!

These gloves are the best on the market unless you go with their chain mail.
I've had these gloves for five months and use them daily for woodcarving. I constantly use razor-sharp knives and chisels with tremendous force to shape hardwoods. I've experienced plenty of blade slips, and were it not for these protective gloves, I would have lost a finger or nerve damage. A couple of days ago, I was using a freshly sharpened knife to make a deep cut into the handle of a wooden spoon when the wood gave way, and the knife plunged forward and into my left pointer finger. The impact was strong enough to cause me to drop the wooden spoon and wince in pain. The sharp pain I felt led me to believe I had severed my finger.I glanced at the glove and noticed no tears, not even discoloration of the glove cloth from what I figured would be my pooling blood. So I gathered my first-aid kit at the ready and slowly peeled the glove off my injured hand. The only injuries I suffered were slight bruising from the impact and an ever-so-slight cut not even worthy of mentioning. In other words, these gloves performed far better than my expectations. It's not often a product does what it says it will. Oh yes, before I forget, they are extremely comfortable. The palm of my hand measures about 4.5" at its greatest width, so I ordered the 2x. The gloves fit, well, like a glove. Also, I am able to operate my tablet and cellphone touch screens without having to remove the gloves. Lastly, will I recommend these gloves to others? I already have. Will I order more for myself? Of course.

Great gloves, sizing consistency issue
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I love these gloves. I use them for Wood Carving. They were recommended by Carving Is Fun. They're definitely can protect your fingers from a nasty cut, but still take your safety seriously. Like any cut-resistant glove, it is resistant, not cut-proof.The first pair I ordered in 2024 was a large. It was a little loose for my ~3.5" "knuckle-area" on my hand but I broke it in over time.I ordered another pair in 2025 but the size of the large was much different compared to what I ordered in the past. Unfortunately the medium is uncomfortable for me to wear for long periods of time. :/4 stars for now. If they can get their sizing to be consistent, I'd be happy to give it 5 stars.

Best working gloves!
These are incredible gloves! The grip and protection they give you is unmatched. I could lift heavier things with these gloves on and I used a shovel and rake all day and did not get any blisters. Amazing gloves! I chose the XS sized gloves and they finally fit- most work gloves, no matter if you chose small, never fit. But these were perfect and snug!

Saved my fingers ### times!!
I volunteer in a 'soup kitchen' and use a mandolin slicer pretty regularly. These have saved my fingers several times and are good for manipulation of the food etc. Makes cutting faster and work well over/under tight kitchen gloves.

Great gloves, not for heavy duty use
I’m an HVAC Technician. I bought these for use when I’m installing to protect against sharp sheet metal edges and the various hazards you’re exposed to during rough in or remodel installation.I found these gloves to be quite dexterous. I was able to start a new roll of electrical tape with them on. They fit like a second skin and are quite comfortable. They didn’t shift or slip on my hands when I was working on the roof on a 100 degree day.The nitrile palms are quite sticky, but not overly sticky. I carried 5 or 6 10” sheet metal ducts from my truck back into the shop and my hands didn’t slip once. They provided a firm grip on various power and hand tools, and when using a hole hog with a hole saw, it never jumped out of my hands when it bound up boring through joists. All that being said, they are just not up to heavy construction work. I began wearing them on a Monday and by Friday the nitrile was cracked and peeling off and a hole was beginning to develop in the thumb webbing. Interesting thing is, that was mostly in my left glove. The right has a small spot in the thumb webbing that has cracked and peeled, but it isn’t nearly as bad as the left. And I’m right handed. So maybe it was just that left glove didn’t bond well. I may get another pair and see how they fare. But for right now, at $50 a month in gloves ($12 x 4 weeks), they just aren’t cost effective for me.They really are a great pair of comfortable gloves, they just aren’t up to heavy construction.
