Amazon customer rating: 4.6 / 5 - WC Safety review of the Little Giant Ladders HyperLite 24 ft Extension Ladder, Fiberglass, Type 1A, 300 lbs Rated.

The Little Giant Ladders HyperLite 24 ft Extension Ladder, Fiberglass, Type 1A, 300 lbs Rated is one of our picks for the ladder lineup. Everything below comes straight from the manufacturer's published listing - specs, capacities, and dimensions are theirs, not ours.

Ladder selection starts with the duty rating - the ANSI Type stamped on the label is the working-load ceiling including you, your tools, and anything carried. Fiberglass rails are the default around electrical work because they are non-conductive when clean and dry. Set up per the label and OSHA 1926.1053, and keep three points of contact.

Key details, quoted from the manufacturer's published listing:

  • 20% LIGHTER THAN THE COMPETITION: The Hyperlite weighs 20% less than others in its class, making it easier to carry, faster to position, and less taxing. Reduce the risk of back strain and injury without compromising strength or stability.
  • ENGINEERED FOR COMFORT: Unlike round rungs that dig in, HyperLite’s wide, flat rungs are shaped for the human foot and built to fight fatigue.
  • LEVEL CHECK: Just one inch off at the base can cause a nine-inch lean at the top of a 19 ft ladder. The built-in bubble level allows for quick adjustment on uneven ground to ensure safety and stability before every climb.
  • BUILT TO LAST AND REPAIR: Riveted rungs allow users to replace or repair damaged parts, extending the ladder’s life and keeping it jobsite-ready.
  • HALF THE FORCE, ZERO OBSTACLES: The Double-Pulley System takes the strain by cutting pull force in half and keeping the rope out of the climb zone. No hang-ups. No hazards. Just clean, controlled movement.

What to check before you buy

Duty rating, not just height
The ANSI duty rating covers the worker plus tools plus materials. Type IAA is rated 375 lb, IA 300 lb, I 250 lb, II 225 lb and III 200 lb. Add up everything that goes up the ladder.
Material vs. the hazard
Fiberglass side rails are non-conductive and are the default anywhere near live electrical work. Aluminum is lighter but conducts.
Working height vs. ladder length
Usable height is always less than the ladder length once you account for the overlap on extension ladders and the top steps you should not stand on.
Feet and footing
Slip-resistant feet only work on a firm, level base. Soft ground, sloped surfaces and smooth tile all need attention before the first step.

Frequently asked questions

What do ladder duty ratings mean?

They are the maximum total load the ladder is built for, including the worker, clothing, tools and materials. Type IAA is 375 lb, Type IA 300 lb, Type I 250 lb, Type II 225 lb, Type III 200 lb.

Why choose fiberglass over aluminum?

Fiberglass rails do not conduct electricity, which is why they are standard for electrical work and anywhere overhead lines are a risk. Aluminum is lighter and cheaper but should be kept away from live circuits.

What angle should an extension ladder be set at?

The widely used rule is 4:1 - one foot out from the base for every four feet of working length. OSHA states the same requirement for portable non-self-supporting ladders.

Can I stand on the top step of a stepladder?

No. The top cap and the step below it are not designed to be stood on, and manufacturers label them accordingly. If you need that height, the ladder is too short for the job.

How often should ladders be inspected?

OSHA requires ladders to be inspected for visible defects before initial use in each work shift, and after any occurrence that could affect safe use.

Where do the specifications on this page come from?

They are taken from the manufacturer's published listing. WC Safety does not laboratory-test products, and nothing is claimed here that the manufacturer does not state.

Does WC Safety sell this product?

No. WC Safety is an independent review site and an Amazon Associate. Purchases happen on Amazon, and we earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

How was the rating on this page determined?

The score shown is the live Amazon customer rating captured at the time of review. It reflects buyer feedback, not a WC Safety test result.
