EDITORIAL REVIEW: 4.5/5 — WC Safety Review of the 3M Virtua CCS, the wraparound with a built-in cord loop that keeps glasses from disappearing.
Editorial assessment by Steven Eaton, WC Safety editor, based on published 3M specifications and category fit. We did not laboratory-test this product.

The 3M Virtua CCS is a classic wraparound safety glass with a built-in Cord Control System — an integrated cord loop that lets you tether the glasses around your neck between tasks so they never disappear on a busy site. It's rated ANSI/ISEA Z87.1+ high-impact, with Scotchgard Anti-Fog on the standard Clear, Gray, and Indoor/Outdoor variants, plus a Clear Bifocal reader option.

Why the 3M Virtua CCS keeps glasses on hand

Safety glasses that get set down get lost — and a lost pair is an unprotected worker until the replacement arrives. The Virtua CCS solves that with a built-in cord loop: push the glasses up or take them off and they hang around your neck, ready and compliant, instead of vanishing into a toolbox. Add Scotchgard Anti-Fog on the standard tints and a bifocal reader option, and it's a practical everyday glass for people who are always on and off. Our full 3M Virtua CCS review rates it 4.5/5, and the safety glasses buyer's guide covers retention and comfort features.

Safety first: the cord loop aids retention, not protection — the Virtua CCS is impact-and-debris protection, not a sealed goggle. It is not rated against a chemical splash hazard, fine airborne dust, or vapor, which require sealed goggles or a face shield per your hazard assessment. And a tethered glass only protects while it's on your face, not hanging on your neck — put it on for the hazard. Choose eyewear against measured hazards with the when-do-you-need-safety-glasses guide.

What the listing documents

From the published specs: ANSI/ISEA Z87.1+ high-impact rating; a classic wraparound polycarbonate frame with a built-in cord loop (Cord Control System); Scotchgard Anti-Fog on the standard Clear, Gray, and Indoor/Outdoor variants; a Clear Bifocal reader option; base model 11872. As 3m safety glasses go, the Virtua CCS is the tethered member — a genuine corded safety glasses build and a true anti fog safety glasses on its standard tints.

Choosing your Virtua CCS variant

Match the tint to the light, all with anti-fog on the standard variants: Clear from the clear-lens collection for indoor work, Gray for outdoor glare, and Indoor/Outdoor for shifting light from the I/O collection. The clear-vs-smoke lens guide settles the outdoor call, and the Scotchgard variants pair with the anti-fog guide and anti-fog collection. The BF49 adds a bifocal reader for close-up work.

Where the Virtua CCS sits in the 3M line

The 3M line splits by feature: this Virtua CCS adds the built-in cord, the budget Virtua AP is the no-cord bulk-buy, the SecureFit adds self-adjusting temples, and the premium Solus 1000 brings a sculpted anti-fog frame with an optional gasket. Browse the full 3M safety glasses collection, and the best safety glasses 2026 roundup places the line against other brands.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The tether suits inspection, driving, and on-off task work where glasses get misplaced — the construction, manufacturing, and mechanics guides rank frames by task, and smaller-faced wearers should check the small-face guide and women's fit guide. Where the hazard exceeds impact — splash, dust, vapor — step to a sealed goggle from the safety goggles collection or the broader eye protection collection. For crew orders, quantity purchasing runs through a free Amazon Business account — volume pricing, PO numbers at checkout, and tax-exempt eligibility for qualifying organizations, with the walkthrough linked in our footer.

Excellent fit and perfect for protection!
As someone who values eye protection and safety, I was excited to get these 3M Safety Glasses, and they definitely exceeded my expectations. First, the glasses are very well-made and durable. The lenses are scratch-resistant and are also very lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. This is essential for anyone who needs to wear them regularly like nurses, doctors, etc. Second, the glasses are very versatile and can be used for a wide variety of activities. They are great for both indoor and outdoor use, and they are suitable for a range of jobs, hobbies, and sports that require eye protection.Third, the glasses are very affordable. I looked around and these were the perfect price point and function. Now the best feature is the foam around them. It provides a PERFECT seal for my face at least. I had to wear them when caring for my sick child when he had covid (he was coughing up a storm and couldn't mask so I figured protecting the eyes is a must). Eye protection combined with a mask and I felt safe. After that experience I ordered two more for my son and hubby.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with 3M Safety Glasses and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality, durable, and comfortable eye protection. Five stars!

RINSE THEM to clean. DO NOT WIPE THEM.
If I were using these glasses in a climate controlled environment these would be completely mindblowingly awesome. But, as it stands, I am working inside the confines of a hot welding lab and, though the gaskets do form a great seal, (even with the venting slots) perspiration does collect, though not in "fog" form.Without the gasket these are superior in every way (yes better than my jacksons).Just TRY and fog em up.Visibility is exceptional and peripheral protection appears to be spot on. The ear protection connections come in handy immediately and do not bind.Came a WEEK early by the way. Fantastic! The loss of one star is less a comment on 3M's product and more a comment on the fact that gasket eye wear is just going to trap moisture. There's no way around it.Meaning: Buy these glasses no matter your work environment. They absolutely ARE fog free. Just don't expect them to be magical moisture eliminators. They're good looking too, so I'm going to save them for winter when I can work without sweating like a horse.P.S RINSE THEM TO CLEAN THEM (its right in the instructions)The anti fog coating (I'd call em "fog proof", actually) is tough, but not scratch resistant. Either way, its definitely worth the extra 30 seconds to keep them crystal clear.Without the gasket these are stellar and would get five stars.I know I can remove the gasket, but I feel I have to review the entire product as ordered and shipped.I expect these to become the standard for research laboratory PPE.Also wish they came with a carrying case. No biggie. Crown Royal bag works like magic.

One of the best I've used so far
For the last two years I've been on the hunt for the perfect work goggles.I work in maintenance and there's so many tasks where my eye condition hinders my ability to work efficiently. Suffering from Keratoconus, an hereditary condition that weakens my cornea and reduces my vision to almost 20/400 I have to wear extremely aggravating Rigid Gas Permeable lenses. They feel like thick fingernails against your eye. Since there's a very thin layer of tears keeping them over your cornea it's very easy for a little speck of dust to get in there and wreak havoc. There's been countless times where a menial and simple task such as sweeping or getting under a sink and shaking some junk off the surfaces has caused me insane and intolerable amounts of pain. Sadly while at work I don't have my contact lens remover-a little plunger and a mirror to do it carefully since they can't be removed by hand. For the last year I used a pair of goggles I got from Walmart...they were okay for the most part. My biggest issue was that they would fog continuously and sometimes if I made a face it'd allow some air through, and unfortunately I'd be using a leaf blower or trimming--sending thousands of tiny painful particles into my eyeballs. Fast forward to a few months ago...the goggles were getting so scratched up that when they got foggy while I worked it was impossible to see through them, necessitating me to remove them every few minutes to clear the fog, then put them back on. By then I'd get dust all in my eyes or I'd have to close my eyes while I did this over and over. Now I got these glasses and everything has changed. I know these have small vents that might allow particles to get in but it hasn't happen to me yet. They feel cool as well, and the best part is that I have yet to see them fog up. Needless to say they work great.l. The seal is almost perfect and it blocks most large dust particles which is what I needed it to do.Getting under sinks now is not as much of a nightmare and I can see clearly while it's practically an over under there, or in the attic or crawlspace. The anti-fogging stuff they used is amazing. I'm very certain I'll be buying a few more of these again.

For those with large and slightly bulgy eyes - this is a dream come true.
I realize that this makes me seem like a frog-person, but I have no way of proving otherwise. So bear with me.Short story:1) Snug, comfortable fit with full eye socket coverage (check)2) Fog Protection (check)3) Fits on a respirator without leaking (3M 7000 series, check)4) Easy on/off (check)5) Cheap (check)6) Ladies love it (pending)Long story:I have been looking for my perfect safety goggles for a long time, and I have gone through a half dozen different models. I was feeling OK with one model for some time until I was sharpening a knife on my belt sander and a small piece of metal somehow shot around my goggles and hit me in the eye. Luckily it did not do any damage, but it was a reminder that properly fitting eye protection is extremely important. What you want most in safety goggles are a full wrap around your eyes (to prevent particles from entering). These do a great job in both respects, but I have had sawdust get through from a high velocity fan. Otherwise I have not noticed any penetration like I have with other goggles.Next, you want fog protection. Otherwise you won't be able to use them very long. I have worn these for hours without any fogging, and only once had to wipe them down after painting for an hour on a very hot day.The next thing your goggles need to do is fit snugly (and securely) on any other equipment you may be wearing. I was wearing chemical splash protection goggles for a short period until I realized they were no longer secure if I were to wear a respirator. These fit great even with a half mask.Typically goggles come with either an elastic strap or sunglasses-style like these do. These can come on and off easily with one hand, while you would not be able to do so with a strap. A strap can potentially give you a tighter fit, but can also get tangled with your hair or other straps if you are wearing something like a respirator. Also, in time the strap will lose its elasticity and you will have to replace it.This is also a great price ($12). You will not find a better product for a better price at your hardware store (I've tried).Whether or not my girlfriend actually likes me walking around the house in these or is just amusing herself is still data in progress.

but take it more like a really high C+
I'm giving them 3 stars, but take it more like a really high C+.... I just can't give 3.5 stars or I would. I really don't have much issue with them. They're comfortable, light, and they protect my eyes...which is the number one goal. They also weren't too expensive. My only issue is that I had to end up taking the rubber gasket out and that completely negates the extra protection you had by putting the gasket in to begin with. The problem I had is that I wear a helmet and a lot of gear...then I have to go do a bunch of work. The sweat just pours off of me and collects above the gasket (some of it does....most just drips off the side like its supposed to). Once enough sweat pools, it starts seeping between the gasket and the glasses or the gasket and my face (not sure which)....and the waterfall starts. This is a mess because the sweat streams down the lenses causing streaks, blurry water marks, and some fog. Its a combination of issues....but what it results in is me not being able to see. Its not even practical for me to wipe of the lenses frequently because I don't have time and my gloves are filthy anyway.... but when I was able to get them wiped off, the problem started again within moments.I finally just popped the gasket off and then the sweat could just fall down my face. After that I could see fine and there was no problem with the glasses.... but at that point they're no different than any other glasses. I don't know what could be done to make them better.... a person that sweats a lot and can't clean the lenses frequently may just need a miracle... but for me and my situation they ended up being a bit frustrating.Good glasses otherwise though, so if you just like them and don't sweat or will be using them in a cooler setting... they might just work well for you.

Excellent Glasses for Protection
I love these glasses and will be buying more, including the tinted model. I have a large head, and these fit incredibly well. Most safety glasses do not. In fact, I find that I forget I'm wearing them.I appreciate the padded attachment that provides additional protection. I took it off once, but I didn't care for the feel and was nervous about the lack of protection. The lenses stayed clear except once when it was really hot and humid. I'm not going to dock them for that; any glasses would fog just a bit.

Comfortable and effective, but didn’t last long
These 3M safety glasses were comfortable to wear and worked well for protection. The color is nice, and overall they felt good during use. However, they felt a bit overpriced for what they are, and they didn’t hold up very long—the foam padding eventually started to rip off. They work fine while they last, but durability could definitely be better.
