KASK SuperPlasma HD Hi-Viz Safety Helmet Overview

The KASK SuperPlasma HD Hi-Viz safety helmet combines an ABS outer shell with a high-density expanded polystyrene (EPS) inner shell for impact absorption. As KASK SuperPlasma HD Type I Class C equipment, it's tested for top impact only and carries no electrical rating, consistent with its vented shell design.

Safety note: this is a vented, Class C helmet with NO electrical rating - the vents that provide airflow break the continuous non-conductive shell required for a higher electrical rating. It addresses head impact only, not a chemical splash hazard or other liquid exposure risk. Never wear this helmet on any task involving exposed energized conductors or electrical hazard exposure. As a Type I helmet, it is tested for top impact only, not lateral impact - confirm your specific hazard profile before relying on it for side-impact scenarios.

This is a genuine KASK safety helmet ANSI Z89.1 EN 12492 design - it meets ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type I Class C, CSA Z94.1-2015, and the European EN 12492:2012 climbing helmet standard. The SuperPlasma HD hi-vis colors (Red Fluo, Yellow Fluo, White) all share identical construction. As a KASK climbing-style safety helmet, it has 10 air intakes with metal mesh vent covers and a universal 51-62cm adjustable fit. See our SuperPlasma HD vs Zenith X-Air comparison below.

What It Is Built For

Use case Fit Buyer guidance

Low-light or high-traffic site visibility Strong fit 8 high-intensity reflective stickers, hi-vis color options.
Electrical or arc-flash work Not suitable Class C has no electrical rating; use a non-vented Class E helmet instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What certification does the SuperPlasma HD carry?

It meets ANSI Z89.1-2014 Type I Class C, CSA Z94.1-2015, and EN 12492:2012 - the European climbing helmet standard. Type I means top-impact-only protection, and Class C means no electrical rating.

Is this helmet electrically rated?

No. Class C means no electrical protection. The vented shell design (10 air intakes) is why it's Class C rather than a higher electrical-rated class - vented helmets can't carry an electrical rating since the vents break the continuous non-conductive shell.

What's the difference between Type I and Type II?

Type I helmets are tested for top impact only. Type II adds tested lateral (side) impact protection. This SuperPlasma HD is Type I - confirm your specific hazard profile before assuming lateral protection.

What is the shell made of?

An ABS outer shell paired with a high-density expanded polystyrene (EPS) inner shell for impact absorption - a common climbing-style helmet construction that balances protection with a lighter overall weight.

How does the sizing system work?

A universal fit range of 51-62cm with an adjustable "Up & Down" sizing system that lets you dial in width, height, and tilt for a secure, custom fit without needing multiple shell sizes.

What color options are available?

This listing covers Red Fluo, Yellow Fluo, and White - all identical in construction and certification, differing only in color and reflective visibility.

Can I attach a headlamp to this helmet?

Yes. It includes 4 built-in nylon lamp attachment points designed for securing a headlamp without additional hardware.

Can I add eye protection or earmuffs?

Yes. The helmet has dedicated attachment points for KASK eye protection accessories and adapters to secure compatible earmuffs.

How much does the helmet weigh?

Approximately 0.99 lb (0.45 kg), consistent with KASK's climbing-style helmet design that prioritizes a lighter feel for all-day wear.

How is this different from the KASK Zenith X-Air?

Both are KASK safety helmets, but the Zenith X-Air is a distinct model with its own construction and certification profile. Compare specifications directly rather than assuming the two share identical features.

How many reflective stickers does it include?

KASK states 8 high-intensity reflective stickers per helmet as part of the hi-vis design, positioned to improve visibility from multiple angles on site or in low-light conditions.

How do I maintain this helmet?

Inspect the shell, liner, and vent mesh regularly for cracks, dents, or UV degradation, keep the mesh vent covers clear of debris, and replace the helmet after any significant impact or per KASK's stated service life, even if no damage is visible. See our how to clean a hard hat guide and do hard hats expire guide for more upkeep guidance.

Different but better
Light, good ventilation, much more comfortable after an 8 hr day than the old traditional helmet. The flip down lens is much better than glasses in the heat. Chin strap took some getting used to but I don’t notice it anymore. After my coworkers got done making fun of me, they started asking me where I got it

Sits a bit high on the head but great for jobsites
This helmet is very comfortable, lightweight and decent looking for a helmet. The only issue is that it sits really high on my head. Great value for the money.

The most comfortable
I must say this is the most comfortable hardhat I’ve ever worn. I’m a superintendent for commercial construction company I love how you can fasten the flip up eye shield to the heart hat. I just wish they would come out with a light that works well with this helmet give them time. I’m sure they will.

Disappointed in hearing protection mount
The fit seemed okay, though I did not even use this in an actual worksite before the hearing protection adapter broke out of the helmet while using a set of Peltor ProTac III noise canceling ear muffs. From the get go it required me to partially disassemble the mounting for the earmuffs to get them on the helmet, and just manipulating the ear muffs up and out of the way to rest on the helmet as shown in some other product example images the screw mounting the adapter to the helmet pulled through damaging the helmet. Really disappointing, there needs to be more thought put into the design of this feature, it looks good, but that is about it. There is a replacement unit coming though I won’t be mounting earmuffs or headphones to this helmet. Knowing what I know now I would pass on this helmet.

Great helmet, lamp clips are not an accessory you can repair/replace.
Had this helmet for less than two months and the lamp clip broke. I was in the process of attaching a headlamp band through the lamp clips when the clip snapped under light pressure. There's no reason to bend these during installation, as the band fits under the clip with almost no effort - which is why I was surprised when the clip broke. Kask was very responsive with a warranty request, but told me there was no way to repair this. They requested that I send it back and wait for a replacement. The Zenith helmet has replacement clips you can purchase...unfortunately, the Superplasma clips are not a replacement item. Would be nice to be able to replace the clips upon failure.
