Why the kidde kn-cob-ic guards against carbon monoxide

In a larger home, a CO alarm sounding in the basement should wake the bedrooms. Interconnected hardwired alarms do exactly that, and the Kidde KN-COB-IC is built for that whole-home wiring. As carbon monoxide alarms go, this is the hardwired interconnect pick, and the best CO detector guide and the CO placement guide put it in context. It makes one CO detection sound the whole house.

Safety first: a carbon monoxide alarm is a life-safety device β€” if it sounds, get everyone to fresh air outside and call 911 or the fire department, then have the source found and fixed by a professional. This is a residential early-warning alarm; it is not built for occupational settings where CO can climb to IDLH concentrations that demand industrial gas-detection instruments and rescue procedures, so use the right tool for each environment. Keep fresh batteries in it, place it per the manufacturer manual and local codes, and replace the unit at its end-of-life date.

What the kidde kn-cob-ic listing documents

From the listing: hardwired power; interconnect capability for whole-home alerting; and residential carbon monoxide detection. These are true carbon monoxide alarm and CO alarm credentials as a residential CO alarm. Confirm the power source, UL 2034 listing, and end-of-life date on the listing. As with any life-safety device, the alarm or extinguisher is one layer of home protection β€” combine detection, suppression, an escape plan, and regular testing rather than relying on a single device. Buy from a listing that states the specifications and safety listings plainly, keep the paperwork, and note the manufacture and end-of-life dates when it arrives so replacement never slips, because a device past its service life can fail silently exactly when it is needed most.

How the kidde kn-cob-ic compares

Weigh it against the Kidde COB, the Kidde COP plug-in, the Kidde KN-COB-LP2, the Kidde KN-COEG-3, the Kidde 30CUAR combo. The CO exposure symptoms guide and the garage CO guide help you choose.

Choosing the right home life-safety device

Match the device to the hazard and the room: smoke alarms for fire, CO alarms for combustion appliances and attached garages, combination units where you want both, and a rated extinguisher within reach of the kitchen and shop. Browse the carbon monoxide alarms, CO detectors, Kidde CO alarms, smart CO alarms, smoke & CO alarms collections; and read the home fire safety guide to plan whole-home coverage.

Where it fits by home and orders

The Kidde KN-COB-IC suits new builds and remodels wiring a hardwired, interconnected life-safety system - compare it with the X-Sense SC07, browse the wider CO detectors and Kidde CO alarms ranges, and confirm interconnect compatibility with your other alarms before mixing brands. Whole-home coverage is the goal: an early-warning device in each key room, a rated extinguisher within reach of the highest-risk spots, and a practiced escape plan tie the pieces together, so read the home fire safety guide to map what each level of your home still needs. Perfect replacements for my old detectors
Something started beeping in the house and it was making everyone crazy. It wasn't a loud "there's a problem" beep but a quiet, subtle beep. After looking everywhere I finally checked the CO detectors and realized they had expired. Of course they all expired at the same time (since they were all installed at the same time). Got these to replace them and they are working great. They tied in to the other smoke detectors the way they are supposed to and are exactly what I need.

Good quality, top brand
Great quality, easy to install (but does involve wires if you don't have same clip in. Battery provided. Top class detector. Had two replaced as others (same brand prior model) expired. Reasonable price. Definitely would hear if it went off, test sound crisp and clear.

Accurate product description
Good price, fast shipping, and although the box was a bit roughed up the item was in perfect condition and worked after I installed it.

They work. Wish they were cheaper. End of Life beep is EXTREMELY ANNOYING!
I pick these same detectors every 10 years (that's their lifespan), and they seem to be reliable. What I hate is that when they reach end of life (EOL) they beep EVERY 15 SECONDS, VERY LOUDLY.I was out of town when mine reached EOL, so for 2 weeks they beeped, and loudly enough that anyone who walked up to my house could hear them; A dead giveaway that no one was home.

Easy replacement for out of date Carbon Monoxide detector.
The CO detector arrived and was easily installed. It has a triple prong (ground) electrical feed, so if you aren't replacing a previous detector, you may have the use the supplied electrical wiring kit.

Perfect For Me
This unit turned out to be a direct, exact replacement for the one installed that had reached end-of-life and was driving me nuts by chirping every few days (usually starting in the wee hours) until I went down to the basement and hit the reset button. I thought I'd need an electrician (I don't mess with the house wiring) but it's such a direct replacement that no rewiring was necessary, just release the quick-connect plug from the old unit , plug it onto the new unit and lock the new unit onto the existing backplate -- DONE. I sure wish everything with home maintenance could be that easy.

Perfect Match
It was exactly what we needed to replace. It had the exact same wiring and dimensions as our previous Kidde Hardwired Carbin Monoxide Detector that was 10-11 years old. Perfect match and love how quickly it arrives. Less than 24 hours
