The Gateway 21GB80 Swap Wraparound is a hybrid that bridges safety glasses and goggles β€” a foam-lined, wraparound frame that seals dust and debris like a goggle while venting to reduce fogging, with ANSI Z87.1+ high-impact certification. Swap the temples for the included adjustable head strap when you need a tighter goggle-style seal. It is the one pair that runs as comfortable glasses most of the day and converts to a sealed goggle the moment dust picks up.

Why the Gateway 21GB80 bridges glasses and goggles

Most workers are forced to choose: safety glasses for comfort, or a goggle for a full seal. The 21GB80 Swap refuses the trade-off. Its foam gasket rings the lens like a dust dam, blocking the particles that sneak past the sides of conventional glasses, while venting channels fight the fog that plagues fully sealed goggles. Run it with temples for all-day comfort, then push in the included adjustable head strap to convert it to a tighter goggle-style seal when the dust kicks up β€” and it carries the ANSI Z87.1+ high-impact certification throughout. As safety goggles go, this is the convertible hybrid pick, and the glasses-vs-goggles guide and ANSI Z87.1 standard guide explain where each style fits. It is two eye protectors in one frame.

Safety first: the 21GB80's foam gasket blocks dust and debris and its vents fight fog, but the listing does not state an ANSI Z87.1 D3 rating against a chemical splash hazard β€” a foam-lined vented hybrid is not a splash goggle, so for chemical splash work choose a D3-marked indirect-vent goggle like the Bouton Futurex, and add a face shield for heavy splash. Fog is controlled by venting rather than a coating, and it is not a shaded welding goggle. Confirm eye-and-face requirements with the OSHA 1910.133 guide.

What the Gateway 21GB80 listing documents

From the published specs: ANSI Z87.1+ high-impact certification; a foam-edge gasket that dams dust and debris; venting channels to reduce fogging; and interchangeable temples or an adjustable head strap for a swap between glasses and goggle. These are true hybrid safety goggles and genuine foam lined safety glasses β€” versatile convertible safety goggles for dusty work.

How the Gateway 21GB80 compares to other eyewear

For a full sealed goggle, the vented Ergodyne Kaptas or clear Delta Plus Orion; for a D3 chemical goggle, the Bouton Futurex or Gateway Stoic; for an OTG option, the Condor 3PB83 or Sellstrom S71100; and for anti-fog, the 3M SecureFit. The anti-fog guide and construction eyewear guide help match style to the task.

Choosing the right eye protection for your hazard

Dust, splash, and impact are different hazards. For everyday impact eyewear, the safety glasses collection and safety glasses guide; for full-face coverage, the glasses-vs-face-shields guide and face shields guide; for shaded hot work, the welding goggles collection; and the full eye protection collection plus the when-do-you-need-eyewear guide help build the right kit.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The convertible 21GB80 suits dusty construction, woodworking, and manufacturing where conventional glasses let grit in but a full goggle feels excessive β€” compare eyewear with the eyewear buyer's guide. One pair covering both modes trims what a crew has to stock, so keep the head strap with each unit and retire the eyewear once the foam edge or lens degrades. For crew orders, quantity purchasing runs through a free Amazon Business account β€” volume pricing, PO numbers at checkout, and tax-exempt eligibility for qualifying organizations, with the walkthrough linked in our footer.

Nice for home safety without being bulky.
I use these as a homemade soaper; they're nice and comfy and light - they have a security strap that can replace the stems, but I've not used it. The lenses are antifog but I sweat in them; Still, they work for what I ordered them for and I like that they're not goggles.

Nice glasses, but no blocking of dust or debris from the side
I wear a 7 1/2 hat. The temples are tight, which is what one wants in safety glasses. The head strap is easy to place after the temples are removed, although it only has 1 inch of extension. All said, these glasses are what one wants for safety glasses. I do like the glasses. However, I chose these because of the "Foam-lined frame helps block dust and debris". The goggles I am replacing has a 1 inch seal. The foam on these glasses is 1/8 inch. I can run my little finger between the seal and my face without causing the glasses to move.. The foam seal needs to be at least 1/2 inch, if not 5/8 inch, for any debris to be blocked.

Used for COVID-19 eye protection on plane
Nice fit, comfortable. Liked the foam padding. Covered eyes well with wrap around. Used with mask while traveling on airplane. I wanted eye protection on plane. These glasses were easy to use, not bulky like goggles. And I felt better having my eyes protected from airflow on plane.

Excellent Value
This is my second set. The first set were tinted and worked great outside in the sun. I needed a new pair for working in the garage so I ordered these. They fit me great and can be used with the included band if you want to used them like goggles. No these are are not optically the best but fit my need to work in the yard and garage. They fog up occasionally but I never had a pair that didn't.

Comfortable but not made to last :(
Really comfortable, wear them daily seeing Patients in the office. Notice today that some of the surrounding phone is peeling off already. I’ve had them for six weeks. Obviously disappointed as the window to return has passed.Only other issue with it is the ends of the glasses pull my hair out every time I take them off.

Great bang for your buck eyewear
This is a great quality goggle that’s very inexpensive. Great bang for your buck item. I use these goggles for pickleball. It’s lightweight, sturdy/move around when you’re hustling to the kitchen or hustling back during a lob. It’s a great eyewear to protect your eyes and fit very well. I removed the lens itself so that it doesn’t give me that glare from the lights at night and does not fog up.

Scratch Easily
Not even sure how they became so scratched. It's not like I wiped them with a dry paper or that they rubbed on something hard. Nearest I can tell, they were either scratched by the bodies of tiny gnats or by wiping them with a photographic lens cloth, or both. Whatever it was, once they're scratched they're useless. You can't see anything except around the scratches. At first, I thought the scratches were just dirt so I bought anti-fog spray for glasses. I applied it with the cloth provided. They didn't get any more scratched but the spray must've rubbed off the anti-fog coating because then they fogged up right away. I had to dispose of them.Still, as an emergency pair of glasses, they are good. If one never ever touches the lenses, they will work as advertised. They're also good wrap-arounds with the strap, lightweight, and pretty comfortable.

What a difference
I bought these to help block some possible exposure to virus droplets. I don't know exactly how much they would help. But I wore them one day, in central California when the air was so bad from smoke from local fires. We had to be outside a lot and it was very hot. I sat down for a few minutes in the shade and felt like I could remove them for just a few minutes, since no one was around. Wow! What a difference it made to wear them. As soon as I removed them, my eyes started burning from the smoke. So I immediately put them back on. I bought both the sunglasses and the clear - just in case I ever have to be indoors with other people.
