EDITORIAL REVIEW: 4.4/5 — WC Safety Review of the Uvex Futura, a panoramic sealed anti-fog goggle. Editorial assessment by the WC Safety Editorial Team, based on published Honeywell/Uvex specifications and category ...

Key Features
  • Panoramic Lens Design: Wider horizontal sweep of the polycarbonate lens compared to traditional cylindrical goggle housings providing greater peripheral vision and reducing the tunnel-vision effect that workers cite as a reason for removing conventional goggles during active tasks
  • Pivoting/Hinged Frame: The Futura's articulating frame allows the lens and frame assembly to pivot relative to the head strap accommodating a range of facial geometries and providing a more tailored, ergonomic fit than rigid non-adjustable goggle frames
  • Low-Profile Modern Aesthetic: Contemporary design that more closely resembles protective sport eyewear than industrial equipment an intentional design choice that improves worker acceptance and reduces the psychological barrier to consistent goggle wearing
  • Anti-Fog Coating: Interior lens surface anti-fog treatment provides reliable fogging resistance in standard industrial environments where temperature differentials and physical exertion create lens fogging conditions
  • Indirect Ventilation: Perimeter vents allow passive airflow for thermal anti-fog support while blocking direct liquid splash pathways appropriate for mixed-hazard environments
  • Clear Polycarbonate Lens: High-impact optical clarity for indoor and standard mixed-light work environments with UV 400 protection

EDITORIAL REVIEW: 4.4/5 — WC Safety Review of the Uvex Futura, a panoramic sealed anti-fog goggle.
Editorial assessment by the WC Safety Editorial Team, based on published Honeywell/Uvex specifications and category fit. We did not laboratory-test this product.

The Uvex Futura is an ANSI Z87.1 sealed safety goggle with a panoramic polycarbonate clear anti-fog lens for a wide field of view and a pivoting, articulating frame that adapts to different face shapes — it seals around the eyes, so confirm the D3 splash marking and vent type on the listing for chemical work.

Why the Uvex Futura opens the view with a panoramic lens

Tunnel vision is a real reason workers push goggles up onto their foreheads — a narrow cylindrical housing boxes in the sides. The Futura answers that with a panoramic lens: a wider horizontal sweep of polycarbonate for greater peripheral vision, paired with a pivoting, articulating frame that adapts the lens angle to different face shapes for a tailored fit. Its low-profile, sport-eyewear look is a deliberate choice to improve worker acceptance, and the clear anti-fog lens keeps the view usable in humid work. As safety goggles go, this is the panoramic wide-view pick, and the best eye protection guide and the ANSI Z87.1 guide explain the markings. It seals the eyes without the tunnel-vision penalty.

Safety first: the Futura is a sealed goggle that closes around the eyes, so it covers particles and mist that open glasses cannot — but for a chemical splash hazard, confirm the D3 splash marking and the vent type on the listing to verify the splash rating for your task. For concentrated or high-volume splash, add a face shield over the goggle. Preserve the anti-fog coating with lens-safe cleaning, and see the glasses vs goggles guide for when a sealed goggle is required.

What the Uvex Futura listing documents

From the published specs: an ANSI Z87.1 sealed goggle; a panoramic polycarbonate lens with a wider horizontal sweep for peripheral vision; a pivoting, articulating frame for a tailored fit; an anti-fog clear lens; and a low-profile aesthetic for worker acceptance. These are true panoramic safety goggles and sealed safety goggles credentials in an anti-fog safety goggles format. Confirm the D3 marking and fit on the listing.

How the Uvex Futura compares to other eye protection

For a chemical Flex Seal goggle, the Uvex S3405HS Flex Seal; for a Uvex Stealth sealed anti-fog goggle, the Uvex Stealth S3960HS; for a sealed clear anti-fog goggle, the Uvex Astrospec; for an indirect-vent splash goggle, the 3M Centurion 454AF; and for open impact glasses, the Uvex Genesis. The eye protection buyer's guide covers the range.

Choosing the right goggle and eye protection

Match the seal, field of view, and lens coating to the hazard. Browse the eye protection and anti-fog eyewear collections; for the goggle decision, the glasses vs face shields guide; and for the anti-fog coating, the anti-fog guide and the anti-fog vs anti-scratch guide.

Where it fits by job and crew orders

The Futura suits general industry, laboratory, and processing work where a sealed goggle is required but tunnel vision hurts acceptance, and its clear lens suits indoor and low-light tasks — see the laboratory eyewear guide and the manufacturing eyewear guide. The panoramic view and pivoting fit are aimed squarely at keeping workers in their goggles through the shift — see the construction eyewear guide for jobsite eye-protection selection. Confirm the D3 splash marking and fit on the listing, and retire the goggle when the lens is scratched enough to impair vision. Very pleased with these goggles!
I work in the OR and with patients. These goggles fit over my glasses comfortably and do not touch them. The lenses are clear and they are lightweight. Much better than wearing eye shield because you don't have to keep adusting them once you put them on. I forgot I had them on! They also fit over my N95 and surgical mask comfortably. They provide a seal all around your eyes which I wanted and do not fog up. The elastic is very comfortable. 5 Stars!

Comfortable, no fog, I wear glasses! Quality product :)
These are exactly what I was looking for. I put them on immediately and wore them to see if they fogged up... NO FOG!!! They are comfortable and I have a really small pea head (they're big but what I need even though I'm small, so they would work for a man too). I wear glasses and they fit over them perfectly. There is a really nice comfortable rubber around them, and they are very clean and easy to see through! Great price on these as well :)

Nice Design for Glasses-Wearers; Great Tool to Help Combat COVID
I bought these goggles to fit over my glasses. They do that job admirably, but not perfectly - so they get 4 stars thus far after an hour of wear. What I didn't expect is that the goggles actually help my glasses stay fog-free! If they're nicely nestled atop my mask & the strap is snug, the UVEX goggles work just like a metal nose strip. I'll update my review after more wear-time... but I definitely think these are a good buy for any price up to $20.UPDATE:The ventilation built into this mask is kinda' awesome. If you look really closely at the soft vinyl frame where it attaches to the more-rigid lens, you'll see that there are teeeeeeeny little gaps arranged around the whole thing. There's a small number of downward-facing vents molded into the bottom (each measures something like .5mm by 5mm) and on top there's another tiny group of vents that make an upside-down U shape around the lens every centimeter or so. If somebody were to spray me right in the face with a fire hose, I presume that some of that water would dribble into the goggle... In terms of protection against COVID however I absolutely consider it a significant personal defense against random sick strangers' breath hitting my eyeballs. After 3 hours of nearly continuous wear there was only a slight amount of perspiration clinging to the inside corners of the vinyl.

No problems. Working well.
I wear these over glasses to work with resin. My glasses fogged inside them at first when it was warm, but I loosened them and there has been no fog since. I can see fine. Honestly, I forget I’m even wearing them.

Protection from the Virus
I recently read that goggles would be beneficial to wear as eye protection against the Coronavirus, so I decided to get a pair. Before doing so, I checked the CDC’s website, and it says either non-vented or indirect vented goggles are approved. These goggles are indirect vented, so they are fine. They are good goggles, they’re well made, comfortable, I can see out of them, and I can wear them with either my glasses or contacts, which is a plus. I recommend these to anyone looking for virus protection.

They do fog
I purchased these for use in the OR for COVID protection. They work fine, but they do fog up, and I don’t feel like they are an inpenitrable barrier. They are designed to breathe a little, which is both a plus and a minus. They fog less, but they are therefore that much less of a barrier. But they are adequate and do the minimum to make me feel somewhat protected.

Uvex is the best I have ever worn before in my life.
I have tried the Neiko 53875B, cheap $2 goggles, Safety Goggles Vented Clear Shop Chemistry Glasses , and a few other goggles from my school's student store and loaner pairs. This UVEX S345C is the clear winner. For reference, I have lab sessions that last 3 hours and 50 minutes in a lab that seems to be around the 70-75 F mark. I am 6'2" that wears a hat size 7.5 (New Era 59/50), and glasses with 53-17-145 measurements. These goggles have plenty of room to fit any face size. These can tighten to a child's head and expand to a very large adult head. The band is the typical rubberized material. The face seal parts however are not typical. They are still the plastic material, but the face seal area is very soft and flexible. Almost like silicone. This makes it much more comfortable to wear in lab and won't dig into your face like the other goggles. The goggles fit perfectly over my glasses, which are fairly large in comparison to the average person. The only problem I had, was with complete wrap around nature of the goggles. it merely place a tiny bit of pressure on my glasses, but did not not affect me too much.MOST IMPORTANTLY, when other people's goggles were fogging up, mine had absolutely none. Also, as for the raccoon face worries, I only got marks on four corners of my face, which all went away within an hour. Again, I had a 3 hour and 50 minute session and had minimal raccoon heritage left on my face.Edit: I forgot to mention that the bands should not rest on your ears as they will try to dig in. Instead, lift the band higher to let it stick to the back of your head an not rely on your ears for support. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Good goggles!!
So far so good! These are easy to see through, much clearer than I expected. Haven't had any fog issues yet, and the fit is agreeable. The band is rubbery and stretchy. The goggle itself is a bit flexible and contours easily to my face. I have a smaller nose so there was a small gap but my mask covered the space easily. I think these are worth the $12. I am considering buying a second pair for a family member.

Works well for its purpose
The only complaint I have is that it fogs up pretty quickly. But other than that they were perfect.

Nurse’s favorite
I’m a nurse and need to have 12 hour eye protection over my glasses, hat, hearing aides, and mask. This is a great fit. The only problem for a 12 hour shift is the plastic along forehead is soft plastic, fits perfectly but I’ve chosen to add a strip of moleskin. Now I do not adjust anything at my eyes all night! I look like I’m wearing ski goggles, but for COVID protection these are my favorites. Other goggles are fit behind the ears, uncomfortable and slip down, and need adjustment; bad potential transfer of germs to be avoided. We are required to have a solid barrier at the top of the goggles, and these provide that (no vents there. They do not fog up, in fact protect my glasses from fogging as the bottom design sets on the top of mask and my eyes get no fog! Blessings to all us front liners, take care!
