The 3M 8210Plus N95 Disposable Respirator is a NIOSH-approved N95 disposable respirator that filters at least 95% of non-oil airborne particles. great for keeping particulate matter out of your respiratory system if you have allergies
I have a lot of trouble with my sinuses due to allergies. There are also a lot of risks of inhaling particulate matter around my house (I have pet birds, I scoop dusty cat litter, etc.). So I like to keep some of these around. Please note I am only using them to keep particles out of my respiratory system and I am not using them to ward off viruses, etc. (I'm not sure how good they would be for that.) I have also started using them when I am filing or sanding metal (or polymer clay) for jewelry making.I have a relatively small head (I am a small-boned woman) and these fit well enough. The metal around the bridge of the nose can be bent to help this better conform to your face. They do a great job of keeping dust out of my face when I am cleaning the room where I keep my birds; same for when I am scooping cat litter. If I remember to use these consistently when performing those tasks, I definitely breathe more easily at other times (without medication). For those tasks, I do tend to use the masks a few times, because I feel I am being wasteful if I only keep it on for 10 minutes or something. However, while you wear these and breathe, moisture can affect the mask material, rendering it less effective. If you are doing something like sanding or mowing the lawn (to avoid pollen here in Georgia) for a longer period of time, you would probably want to use a new one each time. And even for my scooping/cleaning tasks, I tend to not use one for more than an hour total. (I may be overcautious, but these are relatively inexpensive.)If you wear glasses (I do a lot of the time, especially at home), they will probably fog up some when you wear these. There is no way around it. When you breathe out, the moisture has to go somewhere. I won't hold it against the mask because I'm fairly certain this would be an issue for any mask. (I had some generic ones from the home improvement store with the orange logo and I had the same problem, for example.) This is more of a problem if you are doing any mouth breathing (something I tend to slip into when I wear these without really thinking about it).

Good for cleaning the litter box
I have respiratory issues and needed something to help me out when cleaning the litter box and the cloud of dust when scooping/pouring litter was sending me into coughing fits, not to mention being able to "taste" it and smell it (like it was stuck in my nose) for quite some time later. I was concerned about what it was doing to my lungs, so thought to pick up some masks. I don't know a thing about masks, so relied on the description and figured that something to filter particles of sawdust, etc., would be exactly what I was looking for.I wear eyeglasses and have a very tiny nose, so it was difficult at first to get the mask on with glasses - I had to take the glasses off and then fit the mask with the straps and then pinch the metal nose part to fit. I was able to put my glasses back on, but they were a little higher than I'd normally wear them - which with progressive lenses would be a bit problematic if I needed to see 100% what I was doing. But it's fine for the litter scooping. I did stretch out the straps before the first fitting, which helped the tight strap problem some have complained about.The mask fit well and I did not once smell/taste cat litter while scooping it and pouring new litter in, so I'm confident that the mask is doing what I wanted it to do. The mask is a little hot, and I do wonder what it would be like if I had to wear it more than 5 minutes. I was concerned that I'd have trouble breathing in it, or that any smell of the mask would make me start coughing, but I don't seem to have any problems at all. Since I'm wearing it for such a short period of time, I've been setting the mask aside and reusing it, and after 4 or 5 times of putting it on/taking it off, I've had no issues with the straps, fit or function. While I can't speak to how they'd work in an industrial setting, they definitely help me protect my respiratory system from the cat litter.

I am doing a backyard project that involves blowing gravel and other debris and it's kicking up a lot of dust and dirt. The first day I worked for a couple of hours and wore just a plain surgical mask, but dirt/dust was getting through and into my nose and mouth. The next day I worked for another couple of hours and wore a bandanna around my nose and mouth (like many landscapers do in my area) and dirt and dust was still getting through. After the second day, I woke up with nasal and chest congestion and irritation. Not good. So I purchased the 3M 8120 Particulate Respirator. They really work. I have not had any dirt or dust get into my nose or mouth while wearing this product, and no nasal or chest congestion or irritation.On me they fit very tight around my mouth,nose, and head, which was at first was uncomfortable and took a little getting used to. But now after a couple of minutes I don't noticed it. Also, there is a metal nose clip that you should spend time adjusting for the best fit. After working for a while I can feel sweat accumulate above my upper lip while wearing these masks, but it's a small price to pay for the protection these masks offer.I have not noticed any dust/dirt in my nose or mouth since wearing these. Also, I didn't realize it before, but before wearing these my breathing was pretty heavy, and I thought it was just from the exertion of working. But I think it was actually because I was breathing in dust and dirt. Since wearing these masks my breathing has been normal.I would definitely buy these again.

Hard to know what you will get.
I am not sure if it has been mentioned in another review, but there is a difference between the 3M 8210 and the 8210 'Plus. The 8210 'Plus' has the yellow fabric straps with the elastic inside (like a waist band) which are superior to the rubbery yellow plastic straps on the 8210. In my experience, the 8210's rubbery straps actually melt and snap especially when coming in contact with the sunscreen I use on my face. Unfortunately, I believe Amazon and/or the other sellers either aren't aware of the difference or willfully send out the 8210 masks, even though the Amazon page is describing the 8210 'Plus' as what you are buying.I have received the regular 8210 masks in place of the 8210 Plus on a few occasions. If I am not wearing sunscreen and pre stretch the rubbery straps before positioning on my head, the rubbery straps will hold out longer but never as long as the 8210 Plus straps. My gut feeling is you get more of the rubbery strap 8210 masks when ordering from Amazon warehouse deals as it has happened to me.Update: I recently received another box of 8210 masks instead of the advertised 8210 'Plus' masks. I ordered from a different Amazon seller hoping they would get it right, but I still got the plain 8210 masks with the weaker, rubbery straps.I really like the 8210 'Plus' masks and use them almost every workday.Update 6/16/26: Again, I have received an order of the 8210 masks in place of the advertised 8210 PLUS masks.Today, I wore one of these 8210 masks, with the rubber straps, while weed whacking. In one hour, a strap snapped, even with careful pre-stretching of both rubber straps. There is a difference between the 8210 and the 8210 'Plus' but Amazon just doesn't seem to have a handle on that yet.The 8210 'Plus' with the fabric covered elastic (like in a waist band) is the superior mask for durability so insist on it if that is what you ordered.
