Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit Cordless Earplugs Overview

The Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit Cordless Earplugs are cordless single-use foam ear plugs from Moldex, rated NRR 33 dB. With no cord to catch or snag, they keep a low profile for tight and confined spaces β€” the most economical choice for high-volume single-use. Start with our hearing-protection guide and what NRR means, then confirm the noise level you’re protecting against.

The Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit belong to the cordless ear plugs range and the NRR 33 ear plugs group. They are single-use (replace when soiled or no longer springy); for the trade-offs see foam vs reusable ear plugs.

What NRR 33 dB Means

NRR is a laboratory rating; NIOSH suggests derating it for real-world use. Here is how NRR 33 dB lines up with common environments (always confirm with a noise survey):

Environment Approx. noise Fit for NRR?
Power tools / workshop (~95 dBA) ~82 dBA after derating Good fit
Heavy equipment / construction (~100 dBA) ~87 dBA after derating Good fit
Manufacturing / plant floor (~90 dBA) ~77 dBA after derating Good fit
Firearms / impact (140 dB peak) Impulse noise Add earmuffs (dual)

Who Should Buy the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit?

Buy them if you want single-use foam hearing protection in a low-profile uncorded design at NRR 33 dB. Consider another plug if you need a different level or style: compare 6430 Alphas, 6450 Jetz, 6598 BattlePlugs. For the highest ratings see highest-NRR ear plugs.

Hearing protection only works when worn correctly for the full exposure. The NRR is a laboratory rating; real-world attenuation is typically lower, so OSHA and NIOSH recommend derating it when estimating protection. For very high noise β€” or whenever earplugs alone can’t bring exposure under about 85 dBA β€” wear them with earmuffs (dual protection). The Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit reduces noise; it does not eliminate it or protect against non-noise hazards.

Best Applications

Industrial & construction noise

Power tools, plants and construction work at sustained high noise suit a low-profile uncorded NRR 33 plug that won’t snag in tight spaces.

Shooting & range use

For range and shooting use, pair a high NRR with muffs for impulse noise.

What is the NRR of the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit?

The Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit are rated NRR 33 dB (EPA-labeled per ANSI S3.19). Real-world protection is usually lower, so NIOSH recommends derating the NRR when estimating exposure.

Are the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit cordless?

Yes β€” uncorded for a low-profile fit with no cord to catch, and the most economical option for high-volume single-use.

They are single-use (replace when soiled or no longer springy).

How do I insert the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit?

To fit them, roll them down between your fingers, pull the ear up and back, and insert β€” they expand to seal the canal. A proper seal is what delivers the rated protection.

What noise levels suit NRR 33?

NRR 33 dB suits common industrial noise once derated; for very high or impulse noise, add earmuffs for dual protection. See what NRR means.

Are cordless ear plugs less protective than corded?

No. A cord is only for retention; an uncorded plug with the same body and seal delivers the same NRR.

Are the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit NIOSH/EPA labeled?

Yes β€” NRR 33 dB is EPA-labeled under ANSI S3.19. WC Safety sells authentic Moldex hearing protection through legitimate channels.

Can I buy the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit in bulk or by the case?

Yes. Use the Request a Quote option for case and dispenser pricing on volume orders.

Should I choose ear plugs or ear muffs?

Plugs suit tight spaces, heat and all-day wear; muffs are faster on/off. Many high-noise jobs use both β€” see ear plugs vs ear muffs.

Moldex saved me from Hearos EZ-Grip nightmare earplugs!
For the past ten years, I have been using Hearos Ultimate Softness NRR 32 earplugs. They were excellent in shutting out unwanted sounds and noise - I live in an old apartment building with some energetic & night-owl neighbours - super-comfortable to wear and very well priced.Until I ordered a refill, and noticed they had been redesigned. The new EZ Grip that Hearos had come up with, felt very soft and foamy, with an extended part that protruded from my ears - not really comfortable when laying on your side. And the worst part: they did not shut out noise and sounds the way the former flat back earplugs did. I felt horrified!I did two things: write to Hearos about their new nightmare product. And instantly went searching for alternative brands with mostly 5 star reviews. That's when I found the Moldex 6800 Pura-Fit earplugs. It felt like a bit of a gamble, given that you can only buy these in 200 pairs. But I was desperate to have an alternative. Thankfully, I still had some Hearos earplugs left. When the Moldex earplugs arrived, I tried them immediately. I noticed that they were a bit bigger, and the material felt a little harder than Hearos. This made me worried they might be painful to use on a daily basis. It was a bit getting used to. You can squeeze and roll them tight, and because the material is a little more sturdy, it takes a bit longer before they expand inside your ear. But once inserted, they feel perfect and the noise reduction is even better than Hearos. Moldex has an NRR 33, which is definitely noticeable.I did have to try out my alarm clock volume to see if I could still hear it well. My clock radio is set to classical music, and I can hear it faintly but well and wake up to it.I am sorry to have had to leave Hearos. And if they would come back with their old design - which I heard they are planning to - I would want to return to them as having been a happy customer for such a long time (I was able to get a complete refund for the EZ Grip disappointment). But I am so, so glad that I was able to find Moldex. And with their 200 pair box, I will be provided with silent nights for the coming three to four years. These earplugs keep functioning well and remain clean for at least one week, sometimes even longer. As a last remark for people with snoring partners: Moldex might actually be a better solution, with their highly effective NRR 33 noise reduction level.

It's cheap, works well and quite durable.
I've used 10 pairs of Mack's ultra soft foam (new design) and I have pretty small ears, so I'll base out my review with comparison to Mack's. Compared to the Mack's ultra soft foam earplugs, these are tad slight bigger (very small difference). These last way longer (I use them for 7 days each pair, but they can last way longer). They are definitely more comfortable because they are easier to insert deeper as they do not inflate as fast as Mack's. Mack's usually last about 3~4 days before drying out and they just inflate too fast to insert when dried out. Also, when Mack's dry out, it doesn't block as much sound as new pairs. However, Moldex earplugs even after a week of every night use are good as new. Just make sure to keep them in an air-sealed container when not in use, so they don't dry out. A 200-pair box can last you 2.6 years (7 day use for each pair) assuming you store them in an air-sealed box somewhere to prevent them from drying out. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for cheap and durable earplugs. If anyone is curious on how much you can hear, you can faintly hear if someone is speaking loud right beside you. No noise from conversation outside a room even with door open. Once you using earplugs, you just can't sleep without them. Sound of silence has never been this good. It's too worth it to miss out on a good night's sleep.

Best Ever For Noise Blocking - Deep Sleep!
I've had to wear earplugs to bed at night since moving into this house 3+ years ago due to noisy barking dogs. I was using other brands and thought they were good enough, I tried every brand I found available in local stores. My husband went on a tour for work and was given a packet of these which he did not use so I gave them a try and they are amazing. These block out more sound then any other brand I have tried and they do fit well inside my smaller female ear. (Some brands are so wide that it is hard to fit in my ear.) Unable to purchase these locally I bought them in bulk size from Amazon and they come in little packets of two. They wind up being less expensive than small packages purchased locally in retail stores.I'm sleeping even better now because these block even more sound out. I can't hear the barking dogs or my husband snoring or my husband's breathing. I can't hear my young adult son when he comes in at night after I am asleep. These have helped me greatly when staying in hotels, at a rekative's house and also while staying at two different friends apartments in New York City last month, to drown out sound of lots of traffic at night. I am sensitive to sounds and have always been easily awakened by noises and often when not using your plugs have trouble falling asleep in hotel rooms due to the different sound of the air-conditioner or heating unit and sounds from people coming down the hallway, closing hotel doors, etc. I hear none of that with these earplugs so can get a deep sleep and great night's rest using them.I read these five stars = I Love Them!

Decent Earplugs, With A Catch
We purchased these earplugs because we go shooting quite a bit and didn't want to continually buy earplugs at the range. We've used them for quite some time now and can say that they work really well. They are comfortable, easy to use, and block sound really well. The only drawback is that they don't do well if you need to remove them, then re-insert them (like when taking a quick break, needing to talk with someone, etc). They don't seem to rebound well on the second use. I'm not sure why this is. We have used a different brand in the past and those didn't seem to have this problem. We typically need to wait a little longer before they expand to fill the ear canal, or simply use another set if we're in a hurry. It's not a huge deal as we purchased so many, but just something to take note of if you plan on removing and re-inserting them during a day of use.

Best brand ever
by far the best hearing protectors I have ever used. I was turned on to them when our Fire Department issued them for protection from our loud heavy rescue equipment. I use them for everything from sleeping to block out spouses loud snoring, barking dogs, howling coyotes, back up alarms of heavy construction trucks, train noises, shooting practice. When I use them for sleep, I hear nothing not even my own heartbeat. they are soft and slowly form to the ear cannal snuggly but not noticeable when sleeping, I forget I have them on. They are by far the best brand I have ever used, I have tried dozens in the past. I will only use these now. I love how they are wrapped individually pairs so I can keep them in my pocket and have them ready when ever. They are great on jet planes and long travel trips, Great to sleep in hotel rooms with loud parties going on next door.

No sore ears in the morning :)
I used to use MAX earplugs for about 2 years and I noticed that my ears will be sore in the morning. I have small ears and its been two months since I purchased Moldex and they do not hurt my ears. They are very soft and small and fit nicely into my small ears. I would highly recommend for small people (I am 5 feet female). Since you get a lot of earplugs with this purchase, I use one set for 1 week or less if the earplugs are dirty. As for sleeping, I am a light sleeper and I find them very helpful especially since they fit snuggly into my small ears. It blocks most sounds. I can't hear the fan in my room, but sometimes I can barely hear the dog barking outside if my window is open (I close the window).Update: It's been a year-and-a-half since I started using these earplugs and I am still using them on a nightly basis. I really love them, my ears never hurt except for when I put the earplugs wrong which happens once in awhile, but this is my fault. I will still highly recommend those earplugs for small ear people like me! Love them!Update 2: it's been almost three years and I'm getting ready to buy another box that will last me a few years. I have been using these earplugs every night since my first review and I am still loving them! Comfy and quiet nights. I will recommend to use each pair less than a week due to wax build up. Otherwise, no complains!

A Great Product - comfortable, effective
I've been trying different brands of these disposable foam ear plugs. 3M, Hear-o's, and now Moldex. All have had very good noise reduction. The reason I rate these higher than all the others is that they are slightly longer. Not hugely, but noticeably. Also, these seem to be a little easier to form for insertion than the others and insertion seem to be more likely to fit on first shot.I wear these to control noise primarily while sleeping. I have used them in loud environments.I find that these are much easier to remove in the morning. I do have to remember to not insert them TOO far. :)excellent product

Another great Moldex product! Yes they are soft.
I have been using another Moldex ear plug (for sleeping) but wanted to give these a try to see if they were softer and still blocked more sound. I do feel like they slightly block more noise, while also being a tad softer, which I really like. I got the box that has all the individual wrapped pairs, that's nice if I want to grab a couple to take on a trip, but I would prefer to buy a big bag to save on the paper if I can find that next time. However, this was the cheaper bulk option I found this time. The thing I would change is the length. I would love these to be just a little shorter, I am carefully putting them in my ears, but I think making some a little shorter would be good for those of us with small ears. :) I would give them a 4.5 if there was an option, only due to the length.

That might be fine for a shop or warehouse
I have been using these for a number of years now. They are individually wrapped. The description wasn't all that clear there and the picture suggests otherwise. Why is that important? - well for one, Moldex sells these same in a bulk dispenser. That might be fine for a shop or warehouse, not so much if these are needed to be carried in a vehicle or a pocket. I did that once. Get the wrapped ones.It should be noted that these earplugs are washable. Is that typically done? - maybe. For sanitary reasons, it's best to use a new pair daily or washed. They do lose some efficiency and might get puffed from the process, not a big deal if one uses it around some lower levels noises - such as riding in a car or sleeping in a noisy apartment complex. Just find some washable bag (maybe an unmatched sock, tied at end). ... If around loud continuous noise - like jetliners, off road equipment, etc... then I'd suggest using a new pair. (actually, it's recommended in high levels in a noisy environment to use ear plugs with earmuffs. most people don't. I mean, don't we all love sitting next to the mega speakers at some concert :) )If your preference is to have the corded, then those are an option. If your preference are for the rubber/silicone ones, they are more durable and easily washable. My only observation is that they can vibrate some, like when riding a mower or 'loader. The foam ones were more comfortable and have an NRR rating of 33db.I recommend these
