FAQ
What is the difference between Type R and Type P?
Type R (Roadway) is for workers exposed to traffic and roadway equipment. Type P (Public safety) allows for break-away features and equipment access for police, fire and EMS while keeping high conspicuity.
How do I reach Class 3 with separates?
Pair a Class 2 (or Class 3) top with Class E hi-vis pants or gaiters — the combined ensemble qualifies as Class 3.
Does color matter?
Background fabric must be fluorescent yellow-green, orange-red, or red. Fluorescents boost daytime visibility; the retroreflective tape handles low light.
General guidance per ANSI/ISEA 107-2020. Your specific requirement may be set by the MUTCD (workers in federal-aid highway right-of-way generally need Class 2 or 3), your state DOT, or company policy. Confirm the requirement for your jobsite.
